Agreed but we let them do it. Start writing your politicians to change these regulations. Go to town meetings. It has been done in other states with the tiny house movement where government tried to impose big sticks and brick housing standards onto tiny efficient homes. Now they are realizing this is a safe, sustainable way for people to live happily and be sheltered. In Washington they are now acutely aware there is a shortage of affordable housing, even for those making a decent income. I see it in every seminar I am required to attend in my work as a government employee. People need to be allowed to help themselves out of homelessness and if your property has room for a van, an rv or trailer to solve that problem, it should be allowed, as long as sanitation in ANY form is maintained and available.

true ive been "evicted" twice from the zoning dept from living in my rv in private back yards ,where i was paying rent to stay at . then after each time i was staying at walmarts and side streets until i found another spot .makes no sense

That is kinda my current situation, living full time in a travel trailer while getting my shyte together. It's sad that RV people like us get such a bad rep because of people like these damn squatters who just pull up, trash the place, then bail.

@@Urapunk It's one of the best ways to get back on your feet after a set back. Your bills are at a minimum and your cost of living can be as cheap as you need it. Living in National Parks where you have to move every 5 days and they only have a dump station and no sewer at each spot, isn't very convenient. But, you don't pay for lot rent, so it's worth it when you're trying to save your money. Some people just can't live in a "tiny home" so it isn't for everyone.

When you own a property and you have a jerk neighbor, you have to either sell or be stuck.

This happened in a city in Orange County California by the wash . Went out of control and eventually demolished it.

@@marksmith801 That may be so, but laws and reform won't make it impossible for people to obtain guns. More difficult perhaps, but the last I checked, Fentanyl is something controlled by law and I would not have much trouble getting that. It would stand to reason that obtaining a firearm wouldn't be much of a problem. All a person would need to do is bring guns over from Mexico. They get drugs across that border without issue. I don't see why guns would be any more difficult. Those people who ridicule an "AR-15" do not know anything about them. It is a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle like what Grandpa used to use to eradicate ground squirrels.

It's not kind, at all. Allowing drug addicts to live outside or in delapidated RVs and actively making it easier for them by either feeding them, giving them tents, etc. might look "kind", but its cruel. It's putting a bandaid on a bloody stump of a leg and going "look how good and nice we are to those less fortunate than us!" meanwhile doing jack shit in terms of rehab, mental and physical health, and pathways back to normalcy.

Then if I am still living, I will buy a new minivan with credit so I can live in it the rest of my life parked somewhere near a morgue using my social security check for food and door dash. I am not dependent on anyone. End of Story.

25k a year on min wage.... save at least 3k of that a year since they don't pay rent, that's 45 k after 15 yrs. In some places, that's more than enough for a down payment on a little 1 bed condo. Then you're set.

Lots of people retire in RVs , best to stay on blm land and work part time or 3-6 months out of year then have the rest of the year off..pretty sweet really if done right

That is a much more tenable solution. Have a designated RV park with a parameter fence where people can stay and be safe if they comply. Parking along the road in this way is too open and increases the risk of everyone involved. It looks dirty, will devalue properties in the area, and attract drug dealers and their sort.

After that....resolution. Just like how they solved the camper issue, just make it legal to do whatever the next issue is....next thing you know, crime is reduced to nothing because there won't be anything to enforce

@@ADBBuild This is a short-sighted solution. Allowing people to park for long periods of time is not a tenable option. It devalues properties, becomes a target area for drug dealers, and is generally unsafe for locals and those who living in the trailers. It would be better for the city to buy land for designated parking...like an RV park. Have a fence around the entire parameter and regulate who goes in and out with certain rules that must be abided by. This would be safer for everyone involved.

Enabling is not a solution to a complicated problem that people refuse to face. The problem start at the southern border which is wide open allowing drugs to flow into our country. The Drug cartel can produce fentanyl pills for 50 cents a piece and sell them for $4.50 on our streets. A majority of these “campers” are addicts that we refuse to address with a positive treatment program. Taxes are collect from you and To “solve” this problem only to be drained in “administrative” cost. The addict gets a sign bolted to a pole saying “Free Permit to stay here.” You and the politicians feel good though because you think you’re helping with these kind of “solutions” but all that is happening is our money is being stolen by “compassionate” people when tough love is the solution. When there is a comprehensive mandatory drug rehab program, closed borders and citizens that are not willing to sweep these issues under the rug just so they can feel good, only then do we get our streets back.

As a home owner, if someone parked an rv infront of my house to live there, I would take an excavator and drag the rv/destroy it.

They aren't. All laws have stayed intact unless permitted. They have to be permitted to do this and it looks like they will only issue permits where sanitation and dumping services can be made available.

They did a 180, cleared all the RVs, installed concrete blocks to prevent future parking. The road is a major route to the main hospital, and ambulances were having issues getting through. Guess they didn't think it through (big surprise!)

Ironic how they trash up the most beautiful states first. Why couldn’t they trash up some desolate desert land. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to live there before the extremist liberals got voted into office. We were all a bit liberal and a bit conservative making it a great place to live years ago. But we saw the change just before we left. You could not pay me to ever go back. It’s heart breaking. They had the most beautiful state and the cleanest cities back then.
