Very timely, as I changed my form last weekend to correct a problem with my sight picture!

Cheers Kelly. My form has changed a lot over the years but my sight picture has always been the thing that stays the same (luckily). Not many people talk about what you actually look at when aiming, so I thought, let's see what people think. Congrats on being selected by the way.😁

I've always used an open sight picture to the point that it doesn’t matter if i have a compound with no peep or a recurve where u look around the string. With the compound the sight was adjusted with my cables lined up even with the edge of a riser. Even b4 i clicked my thumb release by pulling back my eye would be looking @ the cables. I will be getting my new prescription tinted frames this week & my eye fatigue should go away. Looking forward to that since i have a month b4 i get the last of my newborns on the farm. I will send u a p.m. so u can see a couple of short videos around a minute long with these things that r only hours old & already moving with instincts.😮😅

Getting the right glasses helps a lot. I wear progressive everyday but cannot use them for shooting, so have to go back to my old glasses for "distance". They are good but my new prescription sunglasses are also progressive so again, cannot use them for shooting. It would be great to see you videos. I am no farmer but for my first 18 years, before joining the Navy, I was a country boy. Now here in NZ we live 5 mins out of town but it feels like being back in the country again. With the amount of wildlife we get and how quiet it is, it is a great place to live.

@@brookvalleylife724 Yeah Andrew, my lenses r going to be tri-focal progressives. I called them sun shades cuz I have great low-light vision & I'm getting the darkest lenses they have since I am very sensitive to bright light with my fair skin & blue eyes. My DNA is of a human from a northern climate in Europe or North America. 😮😅🎉❤

@@josephtreadlightly5686 we sound like long lost brothers. 😁 I also have a very fair complexion and blue eyes, grew up as having reddish hair and freckles (now it's more of a greyish colour 🤣). I have three colour during the year Winter = Blueish, Spring and Autumn = whiteish and summer = red. Here in NZ the sun is really strong compared to the UK so I have to be careful.

@@brookvalleylife724 I truly believe that 2 years ago when Iwas 20/20 vision @ the age that u r now that I would need glasses. But that wasn't the case. I crushed the eye test last week & my Dr. said I have no degenerative collapse in my sight & I hope that's the case. She said that I was very consistent ( like Archery) with my left eye to my right eye testing that I should be very comfortable with my 1st subscription. I am in wait mode & I can't wait to shoot again. Just texting has become tough. My shooting will be 12 meters to start.

Yes, consistent sight picture is important. How about consistent head position as well?
@brookvalleylife724

Very much so. I had an issue with keeping my head down. It may have been due to me wearing glasses but I am really trying to get a fixed head position now.

Yes, those 4 positions ARE the four which I am aware of.

Hi Joseph, great video, thank you. What adjustments would i need to make to move the string from the left side of the riser to the right hand side of the sight? (Right handed)

Hi, It's Andy here, Joseph is one of my subscribers. As for moving the string in your sight picture, once you are at your normal anchor , it really depend on where you put your bow arm. If you move it slightly right the string will look like it moves left and visa versa. Hope this helps.

@@brookvalleylife724 Sorry Andy, new to RU-vid posting. In fact I had to create a channel just so I could ask you the question, so this is my second ever post. Your answer was very helpful, thank you, but, if I move slightly right to adjust my string picture, now I'm aiming "off target"? Do I turn my whole body to a slightly open stance or do I adjust the sight pin right or left to get back to gold? New to archery too lol. I've subscribed to your channel and looking forward to watching the rest of your content. Thanks Steve

@trujedi Hey Steve, no worries 😄. As for you moving and now aiming off, yes it would be. You would need to find which works best for you. And set up that way. If you tried to shoot as you do now it would not have good results until you reset your bow and got used to it. Hope this makes sense.
