Loved that catwalk behind u Andrew. That cat stopped to rest & completed disappeared in the background. The point weight has alot to do with spine but the guys with heavy arrows here mostly into hunting really praise the stability & tighter groups of their shooting. I used to put a 3D target deer up on the ground in a spot where a branch hanging down covered the spot in the target that I was aiming for. During that time I was only shooting compound. I actually have video of hitting the end of a branch, the arrow hits the 10 ring, & a 2 foot branch falls to the ground. Only possible with perfect arrow flight & a heavy arrow which is very efficient with F.O.C. I will be practicing this afternoon. Last hot day & its been that way over a month. I did too much mowing yesterday & almost gave myself heat stroke! 😒😭
My new cats are loving where I live. Lots of places to roam and hide but they are so vocal and need there humans around them. I have found a sweet spot with my 800 spine arrows from my 31lb bow. They have 120grn points and measure a tad under 29" carbon to carbon. I tried 100grn but the arrow flight was just a bit off (weak) however due to the 120grn point being longer, it actually stiffened the arrow slightly and boom, my scores are going up over 18m. In fact I shot our postal on Saturday ( a short Chicago - 18m with 40cm target face and scoring gold =9 red =7 blue=5 and so on.) so out of 540 I got 524. I hit 8 reds with 3 on the last end where I lost concentration and was chatting with some friends that had just turned up. Due to our weather here last week, visitors and having to take our dog to the vet for the last time (Friday was not a good day) I didn't shoot after work last week. This week things look ok and I should be able to get in a t least 100 arrows after work. We did have our coldest morning yesterday. at our place at 07:00 it was -5.6 degrees C. 🥶
@@brookvalleylife724 Wow, i didn't think u could get that cold! That shooting & that setup sounds dialed in. I just turned each of my bolts down 2 turns to shoot more arrows, but my supplements I'm taking r giving me more stamina as well as strength. Going to do another 3 types of arrows shooting again since i didnt have the weather to shoot in. Rain tomorrow then I can shoot 5 to 6 days in a row with nice weather. Sorry to hear about your dog. The last deer I bottle fed & weened entirely on my farm turned 17 yrs in May & she's so smart with wisdom & others let her lead cuz they don't want the responsibility. One of a kind generational type animal. Her mother b4 she was born was close to death b4 I found her a miracle drug & saved her life when she was knocked down with pneumonia. Interesting how all things happy for a reason. Take care.
@@josephtreadlightly5686 Cheers Joe. Keep up the good shooting. we got our dog when we first came to NZ. as a bigish dog (Lab retriever cross) making it to 15 was a great effort. She had a fun life and it was time. What supplement do you take. I just have a berroca (vit C) every morning, and that's it.
Paleovalley makes 2 items, the Apple Cider Vinegar that comes in pills that has 4 superfood items that also comes in them plus I bought a bag that has those same 4 items in a powder form that u make shakes out of so I use that to wash them down. Then they have a Grass Fed cattle pill which has nutrient rich vitamins in a pill form. The pill form is made from ingredients from the beef, liver & heart. My digestive system was pretty bad since 2018 & I hit rock bottom 2 yrs ago late in 2022. My goal @ the end of the year is to go from a 9% BMI & 165 lbs to 5% BMI @ 175 lbs. X-mas in 2022 I was 5'11" & 147 lbs! Very little muscle mass & I'm naturally trying to bring that back. 😮🎉😅
I have buy this cool Matrixriser (same color) for 170€ and i use this with Satori Limbs. I love This. I have a old Riser "Aerotek" too and i think, its near to the Matrix. I love all Bows from Hoyt. The Dorado is really light and Smooth bow for hunting.
It's funny as the Matrix is the only Hoyt riser that I have had trouble shooting, but it think it comes down to the grip. For once a hoyt grip I didn't like. Aertec is a great riser. I still use it for my clout bow. Hoyt do make fantastic equipment but the price has gone way beyond what I can afford.
@@brookvalleylife724 That's why I only buy used bows. Hoyt Aerotec with GrandPrix limbs €500. Hoyt Dorado complete €150 Hoyt Matrix with Satori limbs €500. I'd rather have a used branded bow than a cheap one. You can tell the difference in quality. And it's worth it if you use it.
@@StikoNiko That's a good way of getting some good equipment, however some of the "non-big branded" equipment that is available now, at really good prices are as good as some of the big brands. I like a bargain, but also want quality. I have found a few amazing brand that provide this. First would be Nik'a Archery. Their ET-11 and ET-15 range risers are amazing and a really great price. I have been shooting them for nearly 2 years with no issues and their N3 limbs are fantastic. Topoint do a good riser, but their prices are increasing as they become more known. Junxing (TBOAW) can be hit or miss. I have 2x Junxing H7 clone risers and they ate great. But I have heard of some people having issues with the H8 I think. So many different brand now, you really need to do your homework.
Try two stabilizers out front using an adjustable v bar. Eliminate the v bar extension. Put another v bar on the belly of the bow for the v bar rods. It must be an adjustable v bar. Thanks for the videos Tom Lund
I thought they might sound different but I didn't hear anything discernable. For the ease of attaching them the spin vanes seem like a no-brainer. I was only able to spend a little time outside. Humidity & temps are so high that it's hard to handle the bugs all day long but I'm going to try. Running out of days in July. 😮🎉
@@josephtreadlightly5686 Hi Joe. Yes they sounded similar. The spine vanes had a better flight but apart from that, very little difference. We had our first rain day in ages here. Still got to shoot a few arrows this morning. Tomorrow looking bad for rain but it is winter. I shot our postal yesterday. 18m at 40cm target face and 60 arrows. 548. My second highest in competition setting. Trending up and I also did a few at 70m. That was not too bad either. Think I have found a few things to work one for good arrow flight. It seems that where you are the weather want to screw you over either it's freezing you or boiling you. Sounds like you need a nice air conditioned barn. If only we had the extra millions to spend on fun things....

this is awesome! I'm going to be using your idea to build my own :) Quick question... I have too many to hold in a single 1000 and will be pairing with another. How would you suggest I connect the two to provide a channel for the fish to swim between?
Depends on size of fish, but a piece of drain pipe (4" min) with Uniseals for attaching. Or just have separate ones (but you may need more than one pump and filter).
I look @ it Andrew as a stable platform. Javelins are made weight forward & adds consistency on throws as well as penetration into the ground. You can't measure a throw or shot that doesn’t stick upon impact. Waiting for the rain & lightning to leave to get a few shots in. If its not that way its too muggy & buggy to even be outside. Horrible summer so far which means I'm going to have to play catchup when the weather turns for the better.
These arrows are flying alot better with the 120grn up front and with the spin vanes. For the price, these arrows are great. Sound like you are only going to get a few month of shooting this year. I get annoyed when we have a few days of rain. This winter, so far, has been quite dry with little wind. It's been chilly for here 😁 but not too bad and we have had some great days for shooting. If I have been well, I guess my average is about 100 arrows 5 days a week. My issue is my target is being shot to bits. I have a new one coming but it has been delayed on the ship from Europe. These first world issues....🤣
I did that when I made some adjustments. Yes it moved the fletched arrows across but the bare shaft landed in the same weak position. To get a good tune I dropped 1lb on draw weight and this made the arrows tune better.
Victory arrows, 500, 125gn points (wanted 150 to reduce spin), full length (reduce spine), no fletch (fly “straight enough” and on target) 32lbs limbs but measured at 36lbs (waiting for the Nika cornerstone 38lbs)
Now this is why I like to see what everyone is shooting. For me, even shooting 40lb with Victory VAPs I shot a 600 spine with 140 grn points, and they only just tunes. For 36lb, both Elong and Pandarus Icepoints tune a bit on the stiff side, but very close at 700 spine. Arrow are 28.5" carbon to carbon with 120 grn points in the 700 spine. You must have a long draw length and that is why the 500 spine works.
@@brookvalleylife724 I don’t have a long draw length, I think I’m comfortable with 29”, giving a ‘stick out’ (welding term). Using the full length 500 spine, the theory is, as I move up in limbs, I can cut it down to match the 38 and the 46 lbs limbs. I’m planning to cut 1.5” (1/4” at a time) off when I get the 38lbs Cornerstone. I should be 30.5” I’m planning to use 100gn points if I need further tuning. Secretly, I want to ware out these Victory in order to justify buying new arrows
I see. Should work well. I have just changed some 100grn points in my 800 spine arrows for 120grn. It made the arrows stiffer... guess the extra length of point inside the arrow is making it stiffer than the change in point weight should make it weaker.
@Australian_Made ok. I think I have never used it. In fact I have used stick on spin vanes virtually all my archery career. I have used them all from the real spin wings, gas pro, spider vanes, pandarus and the Aliexpress vanes I use now. So much easier to repair and fletch.
Yeah, I really like the Bohning 🎉 products. That Platinum has worked better than anything I've tried & I've used many others. I used to use the fletching glue made by Bohning I think they called Fletch-Tite. But after using that I think I've had less problems with the Platinum since it's been on the market. My pins I press in with a very small piece of a plastic shopping back which has a rubbery texture to it. But I don't bust alot of pin nocks since I don't live & shoot in Adelaide😮🎉😂❤😅. P.S. That spin vane comparison shoot should be nice. I know that Steven guy is smitten by them cuz they are easy. 🎉
So you watch Mr Hann as well. He is a good one to watch as he tells the truth. However funny you say about the spin vane comparison, as I shot it this morning. Possibly next weeks video. And yes I prefer spin vanes as well as they are just so easy to use. With the normal plasti vanes, I always seem to have some that just seem to fall off when they get tapped by another arrow. Other stick fast and are a nightmare to remove, so I just don't know??? Here in NZ we are also starting to bust a lot of pin nocks. Must be a Southern Hemisphere thing...😁🤣😂
I was making Victory arrows here b4 they had fletched ones I'm the stores. All cuz of Mr. Hann. Always 👍 his videos but I wish he would adjust his sight b4 shooting a whole round or a large group. 😕
@@josephtreadlightly5686 if Victory did 3.2mm I/D I would have a look at them. I think they are a great arrow. I do have some VAPs, and yes because good old Steven reviewed them and they were a good price. They have gone up now though. It is good to see how different arrows react out of the bow. I do the same. Shoot an end with my arrow of choice and center them, and then see what other arrows do. 😁🙂
That is a sweet setup Andrew even though it's your #2. I never thought I would adjust to that grip but it is that grip that just scratches my itch.😮 It's really that good & no need to customize it. That stab. full kit is a brilliant idea. 👏 I like the way that u can adjust it so u won't kant your bow. Day #15 today of my cold which I forget that I still have...until I sneeze & a bunch of white stuff shows up in my throat. Just been too wet here but I think I'm getting wet weather in the morning tomorrow so the afternoon will give me a break. Good day mate to try out the new Polarized prescription lenses by Hurley Optics. Should be 🌞 by then but they work nicely on cloudy days cuz they're Polarized 👌.
Hi Joseph. This is a great setup. The N3 limbs and the ET-11 work amazing together. The stabs are great for a beginner. Having a cold really does bring you down. 3weeks of it is no good. Hope you feel better soon. I think I may have had the beginning of another cold but plenty of vitamin c has helps. I shot a fita 18m yesterday and only shot a 521. Felt off, but today felt a lot better. Did about 150 arrows and was good even though it was a bit chilly for us (nothing like you get). Hope the glasses work well for you. Keep well and have fun shooting.
I’d love to see how the Nika limbs fit into the Nika riser in the manner defined by Jake Kaminski standards. I believe a snug fit is more accurate than a sloppy fit. Can you show viewers the fit, please. How about doing a analysis of the efficiency of all Nika limbs using Norbert Mullaneys standard method that he created back in the 1970s. Tom Lund
hello from Georgia... USA... great video, nice to see the landscape of N. Z.. Editing was also excellent. what's the distance in the Match Play Round ?
Hi Gordon. We were only shooting 30m for the matchplay. Great fun but really cold as we were supposed to be in our summer. My body didn't like it and decided not to move properly.🥶
They dont work just work in conjuction with Einhell .In 2013 Ozito was taken over by Einhell .And most of the Ozito tools are the same as the ones sold in Germany and other parts of the world where they are marketed. I live in NZ and have mostly Ryobi tools as I always thought Ozito were very low quality but have now changed my mind. With most Ozito tools being at least 30% cheaper than Ryobi which is also a budget brand they are better value and with a 5 year guarantee you cannot go wrong.
Nope. It's me. Do it on very bow I have from Hoyt (3 different risers with different grips ) to these Nik'a grips, I have actually moved my grip to ensure my grip it correct. Just me and how I hold my arm to keep my shoulder down. This is one of the things I say when asked about coaching. Everyone is different, and you need to see the archer shooting to find out what their differences are. It's funny because it turns out I had been holding my grip incorrectly for years. It's good now and a lot more consistent.
I’ve been thinking about your inconsistency. Have you tried Knock Tuning? Turn the knock 45 degree and repeat the test with that one arrow. The theory is….in this imperfect world, carbon arrows are pressed around a rod, it’s formed inside a tube (that’s the popular perception). If the inner rod is slightly imperfect, you’ll have a thicker wall on one side…the stiff orientation. This is similar to tuning a wooden arrow where there is a stiffest direction The inconsistent stiffness in regard to the knock orientation, May bias the shaft for favouring a spin. I tested my victory arrows. From factory, they claim it’s “Spine Aligned”. All my bare shafts I’ve used so far is bare shaft and when tested, has a left spin. That’s my strange contribution
It works well. I'm very impressed with it but wish it had USB-C. I got some extra picatinny holder for other bow so I can try on 4 bows now. Cornerstone limbs are excellent for the price.
I would recommend the C2 Cornerstone limbs that r lighter & faster. From all accounts they shoot similar with the feel of the C1🎉. I shoot my N3's quite a bit more since they r a step up but really hold very well @ full draw. They almost feel like there's a letoff to them.🎉😮
@@peterxyz3541 They r quite a bit slower than the N3's. I don't think the C1's split the difference between the C2 & N3 🤔. I own the C1's but they made the C2 afterwards so they had a value model to the N3.
Bow sounds quick enough, but your groups suck. You video just reminded me to not equipment my new recurve with all that extra junk, one stabilizer is enough. 800's, I was thinking 500 hundreds would work better.
Yes, when I did this I was just getting back to shooting and still had an injury. Alot better now. 500 would be way too stiff. I shoot 800 with my indoor set up set at 31lb, 700 for my 36lb setup and 600 with my 40lb setup.
@@brookvalleylife724 Maybe I wrong assumed that you were using 100 grain tips and longer arrows. I've never seen 700 shaft at my local shops, now I know.
@@kengunnett2017 on the 800 it was 100gr points, but the 700 had 120 gr points and 600 140 gr points.. Got a fellow archer at the club shooting 32lb but needs 900 spine arrows. Crazy how different setups need different spine arrows.
Tom ?Lund were you using the same spine when testing arrow spine rotation ? With the large difference in weight maybe different spines make a difference..?
Rewrite original post: 1, all my arrows are unfletch (because I’m an intermediate archer, not good, not bad…fairly competent) 2, I can do a Walkback tune with a dozen or two dozen arrows in one session. 3, during these walkback tunes, I do note the natural arrow rotations on bare shaft 4, current arrows are Victory “pink” arrows. I believe they are just painted V3 6.5mm common shaft. This combination is a left spin.
I have never really taken any notice of this and only ever got RH fletches. Would I see a difference if I tried LH fletches. Maybe another experiment to do 😁
it's the result of spine alignment in the shaft, basically where the seam of the carbon is that causes them to spin either left or right. unless you have a spine tester there's no obvious way to find it. Most high end arrows are spine aligned so make all of them idenctical with the printing that's on it. This is such a pointless endeavor though for target archery. The difference for me between 4" gas pro right spinwing vs 5" left wing feathers on a left clocking arrow is exactly 0 points on wa18 round. There's a good case to be made for hunting since you essentially have 2 sets of vanes, ie one being the broadhead up front that has to play along nicely with the vanes in the rear. Wich is why you just can't install inserts randomly but use the broadhead to aling everything up.
Cheers Ronny. I always try to fletch along the writing or the alignment marks. It was fun to experiment and see what happens. Spine seems to be extremely important with arrows. Maybe an in depth look for another video??
@@brookvalleylife724 I assume that the cheap arrows used are not "SpLined" out. They put their logo on the shaft as it falls out of the machine. I also use the Skylon and I can't imagine that the logo is always at the hardest or softest point, although this doesn't necessarily have to be the seam. That would be too easy and would make the SpLine test** pointless. BTW: The SpLine tolerances of the Skylon are not that bad compared to other arrow manufacturers. (1,4 -3%) **But,i also think there is a bit of voodoo involved in the SpLinetest of carbon arrows! 😉
@@HallyuKa I didn't spine align them. My Skylons arrows seem pretty good and the Pandarus were very good. I don't think i'm good enough to see any spine alignment differences when I shoot (at the moment). I still shoot ok scores but yes it's very much of some witchcraft going on and if you get too involved, it can scramble your brain 🤪
From my experience of arrow clocking you need to be within 1m of the target to get a true reading. If you are any further away the arrow can "over-clock" and give the illusion of turning the wrong way! Try removing your long stabilizer and standing shooting so that the arrow barely clears the riser by a foot when it enters the target.
@@brookvalleylife724 I tooo have no experience with clocking to learn their natural/preferred rotation. My understanding to the logic of the topic is to start at a metre, record results, move to a metre & 20cm, record results, move to a metre & 40cm, record results, move to a metre & 60, [...], 1m 80, [...] and that is enough. Compare results, and verify direction of rotation. My understanding to the logic of the topic is that starting out at 5 metres already has a possiblity of 540° & 720° of rotation and such like. With the risk of that much twist, your results have the potential to be [err, hummm] `twisted´. 😉
I wonder if the very slow rotation of a bareshaft has any measurable impact on accuracy when you consider that the spin vanes spin so much faster in whatever direction they prefer. Shore Shot Archery compared bareshaft spin to a bunch of spin-type vanes. He found the bareshaft rotated a bit in the first 2 m but then basically stopped rotating which isn't the case for spin vanes. That makes me think that the tiniest variation in form from shot to shot overwhelms any bareshaft rotation preference on shot accuracy by a large margin. Always good (and interesting) to explore theories like these.
Agree with you Rick. It's fun to see these things and if by some small margin you get better accuracy, I will look at it. For beginners this is something you don't really need to worry about. But it was fun.
