I have reviewed both cameras on my channel but in this video I take look at these two competing cameras together. This may seem crazy at first as the Fuji has a larger APSC sensor, compared to the Olympus micro four thirds sensor. These two cameras are very similar in price so I think this comparison makes a lot of sense.

The release today of the OM-5 details is quite frankly a kick in the teeth for people who want the mid range OM camera, who can't afford the OM-1. A 2nd hand E-M1 mkIII gives far more value for money.

I agree, I have seen a few videos and am quite honestly very disappointed, Chris from DP Review summed it up nicely and he uses olympus cameras

The Olympus has got a nice flat video profile, which isn't a proper log profile of course, but still manages to preserve highlight details and raises slightly the shadows, enough for me at least, so i can later add a bit of contrast and saturation for a very nice result. The profile preserves very good natural colors, without the need for in depth color grading, when you are opting for a more natural result. Great video. Thanks

Thanks, I will do some experimenting with the flat profile.

Excellent review... In my opinion, the colours of the video from the olympus looks better to me.

I used the standard profile on both cameras and no colour grading was done in the edit but I agree, I also like the Olympus look.

Great review Bob. Thank you. Olympus did appear to be slighly over exposed on video test as far as sky goes. Very interested in the AI software. Looking for link. Thanks again. Really like your professional opinions on the equipment. Keep them coming!

Hey! Thank you for the comparison! Why again are the codecs for video better on the XS10? And besides the headphone jack, is the autofocus on both usable for video? Thanks for your reply :-) Kind regards, Simon

The AF on both is very good but if I had to be picky I would say the EM5iii is a little better.

Thanks for the compared review, very useful! I am considering theses cammeras, and I'm finding difficult to decide. I do all kind of pictures but mainly nature, and I would like to explore and learn on macro world.

I would choose the Olympus then, and if you can buy the em1mkiii even better.

@@jangarcia1338 why would you choose Olympus? just to know

If you do macro and closeup flower photo handheld outside in nature the excellent Olympus stabilization should help a lot. And all lenses have good minimum near distance.

For image comparison, please compare the same scenes, neck to neck. Otherwise, with different lighting conditions and different objects, it is very hard to understand the difference.

E M5 Iii IBIS can't be that bad, something is wrong maybe the OIS in Panasonic lens is On!!!
@AvpStudios

I think it was, I didn't think this would be a conflict, maybe it is. The camera is great but the menu system is atrocious and I thought the Sony's were bad! Loving the weight and size though and the images are excellent.
@markhoffman9655
@markhoffman9655 3 года назад
@@AvpStudios You can not use non-Olympus brand lens OIS in synch with the Olympus body IBIS, same with Lumix IBIS and OIS. Also check which IBIS mode you are using otherwise it mayn't perform correctly for what your are doing.

So if you were going to choose between one or the other for a all round family and amateur photography camera, which one would you choose?
@AvpStudios
@AvpStudios 3 года назад
I have tried to answer this question many times and have come to the conclusion their is not a definitive answer. There is a wider range of lenses for MFT but the Fuji performs better in low light. Overall if I had to choose one it would be the Fuji, but both cameras are great.
@EricMustardman
@EricMustardman 2 года назад
If someone put a gun to my head and forced me to choose, I'd probably pick the E-M5 III over the X-S10. There are more very good lenses available for MFT, the E-M5 body as well as the pro grade lenses are weather and dust proof, the AF is good (although not the best), the IBIS market leading and the entire system light and compact. The Fujifilm X system is great, no two ways about that, but as my personal go-to system, it'd be Olympus. Then again, I'm a photographer, not a videographer.

Great comparison. Thank you. I had been considering the Fuji, (as well as the Sony a6400) and was recently recommended to look at the Olympus. I have a Nikon D7500, that I use almost exclusively with an 18-200 lens, (I have a 50mm lens as well, but rarely find I am happy using it - pictures are possibly sharper - but its just harder to get the right frame. Am almost always on the Auto mode. As I take my camera on holidays, I am finding the Nikon a bit on the bulky & heavy side - but if I trade in for one of these will the quality of pictures be as good (or better). Apparently the Olympus may have weather sealing, which could be useful, but then the Fuji is better for low light. I mainly do landscapes of places visited, or family & friends photos, but could do with using the camera more for video too. I like the range of the zoom - and would probably not change lenses much Would you recommend I : 1. change over to one of these (Fuji or Olympus) 2. Wait for a newer model of the two cameras you have reviewed to come out (or something else that may be about to launch) 3. Is something else that fits the bill now that I should consider instead (small, IBIS, weather proofed, good quality etc) 4. Just keep what I have 5. Get a smaller pocket camera eg Canon G5X iii or Sony RX 100 vii 6. Give up with Cameras, and just use my iPhone 11 Pro - which actually gives pretty good results Your opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks

I agree, the Oly is OK for short clips but not much more. It is a real shame as the AF in the Oly is great, unlike Panasonic AF

The video on Olympus is really crappy but it's really what you get most onf the time with this camera. I love the ergonomics, design, ideas on the olympus, but the color rendering and the exposure are really bad : over exposed, strange colors, flashy green, globally dark without god contrast, lifeless... It's really sad, because it's so lovely in the hand !
