The E M10 was the first camera that I fell in love with, after having the PL-2 and PL-5 bodies. My greatest growth as a photographer was a result of the M10 bodies and in particular, the ability to make so many setting adjustments with the camera up to my eye. I upgraded to the E M10 Mark II and still use that along with my E M5 Mark II. I also feel strongly that the M10 Mark II is a superb camera for the beginner and it can be found at very inexpensive prices. Thanks for your review, and along with other reviews, I just may find myself upgrading to the Mark IV model if I can suppress my fever to add a M1 Mark II to my camera bag.

I recalled you mentioning in this that you had the Em10 Mk ii as a back up so I thought it might not be a bad idea to keep on the lookout for such. Sure enough, a brand new Em10 mk iii showed up on a site for just over $250 including the 14-42mm lens. I also bought a wrist strap. I am blown away by the visual this little camera puts out. Lots of bonuses and the weight is barely noticeable. For sure a backup on most days and the main camera on a crowded street where one might appreciate anonymity! Great suggestion and video. An excellent demonstration of the camera's capabilities. I believe the E-M 10 is a big seller in Japan, despite the ubiquitous nature of mobile phones and selfie sticks, and I think it deserves to be a lot more popular elsewhere than it has been. I'd go out and buy one tomorrow if I didn't already have the E-M 5 ll.

Thank you Jim, I think that the E-M10 is an underrated camera despite me using the E-M1! Like yesterday, I use it as backup and whilst travelling, getting out the E-M1 for the main shoot. I could use the 10 the whole time!

Very helpfull. One ? i have is, has it got a horizontal marking line to use when taking views etc. I have a list to starboard!

I borrowed the mark 4 version of the camera from Olympus for the production. I have a mark 2 of the E-M10 and it has a built-in spirit level. This can be viewed on the screen or finder by repeatedly pressing the Info button which goes through a cycle of four options and one of course, is the spirit level.

Well, Mr Forss, having seen you use the Mk II quite a lot, what do you think about the Mk IV? It definitely feels a lot more plasticky and whereas I much prefer the ECG-3 grip to be fitted on my Mk II when I use it, I find the Mk IV is OK without one, just as well as you can't get one since the flip-down screen would be impaired by a grip. But what do you think about image quality, ease of use/changing settings etc? Mk IV a worthwhile improvement or not?

I am not sure that I am the right person to answer your various points. As I say in my introduction, the programme is presented as an experience and not a technical assessment. I leave that to others whose expertise in that direction is better than mine and who might discuss build and image quality. Olympus offered the loan of the camera for a limited period for my RU-vid Channel and because of that restriction I thought it best to show what was possible covering a variety of situations that a beginner might encounter. I was fascinated by focus bracketing (or stacking), but as you may have guessed, I still prefer to exercise my traditional skills when it comes to controlling depth-of-field. I believe the sensor is an upgrade. As you know and I state in the show, I have the Mark 2, which I use as a backup to my E-M1, my preferred choice of weapon. The build of that camera is quite different in size and weight and sometimes at 77 I could wish for something lighter and smaller. The sun is shining on the North Downs at the moment, and I might be tempted to go out this evening, but I shall take the E-M10 as I can slip it into my pocket. If I had the Mark 4, I would be quite happy to use that.
