The elephant in the room re this lens seems to be the price and the comparison price-wise with the non-M43 version. I'm guessing there must have been cost involved in adapting the lens to M43 (and are there other enhancements to the M43 version?). Bringing this lens to the OM system is going to be a big deal for serious wildlife photographers (regardless of cost) and I think it's great that OM system are expanding the format (despite the negativity they seem to attract). None of this rambling means I'll be buying the lens unless I unexpectedly come into money any time soon.... Great review video though!
@@ronschuddeboomdigiscoping3693 It's a lens designed for larger sensors, so the glass inside (and consequently the lens as a whole) is unnecessarily huge and heavy. But the biggest insult is the fact that the "normal" Sigma version of this lens costs 1500$, and this rebranded version costs 2700$.
Even at 2kg, I reckon this lens will be extremely popular. Yes the Sigma design will annoy a lot of people with the price hike but you can't get this specs anywhere else. OM system has modified it and put Sync IS at 6ev for the long end, if that's true and 1200 at 6 EV, that's even better than the 150-400 pro because with the built in teleconverter, I don't think it will have 6 EV anymore. It has better weather sealing than the Sigma and it works with the two MC teleconverter, you are not getting these features with the Sigma lens alone and you can to 1200mm with m43 instead of a crop in 900mm with either APSC bodies or full frame. OM system knows it and that's why it charge us the premium please read and learn
not good wildlife photography, are you kidding, those shots were stunning, love them all. thanks for this beautiful video. guess i will try to get it by July at most. it will remind me of the good old bigma and 4/3 bodies days.
for what its worth, i've had the 150-600 on sony. Its a FF frame lens which has obviously been adapted to go on mft. i dont really understand why anyone with mft would want a ff sized lens? defeats the object. Might as well go FF instead
