@Alexandru Zamurca Yes . The locks are in the transfercase and the front and rear axel and those parts Stay the same. G wagen has a separate transferbox driven by a short propshaft between the gearbox and transfer box. For example a LandRover has a different setup. Those have tranferboxex which directly Bolt to the gearbox which makes it more difficult to to fit a gearbox from another manufacturer.

Goal is a 300d converted to a sex spd and one of your pumps and couple other goodies.

Could you please explain further? I am interested in doing a project like this in a pickup truck. And reliability is my first goal.

​@@tortugaclan These older engines were designed with external balancing. Only from the end of the 80s the production engines are built with internal balancing. And in this case the OM617 is just the latest evolution of an engine created in 1956, the OM621. The next generation, the OM601 has internal balancing, like all newer engines. So, if you change your flywheel, you must need to rebalance the whole: counterweight pulley / crankshaft / flywheel Or balance the new flywheel with the old one for matching .

Maybe I should have confirmed that most will be using this with a Turbo’d or turbo version om617.

I've got a 300GD om617 with fourspeed but it has a long ratio 4th Gear. I think the gearbox might be from a Mercedes passenger car. I don't know, it was in the car when i bought it. One,two,three are pretty short and 4th is a country mile away. I run 3000 rpm at 100km/h. On a good Day theTop speed is 130- 135km/h. Round 4000 rpm. I've driven other G300d om617 and those had shorter ratio in 4th. Mine is pretty much useless for towing buy relaxing to drive and fuel consumption is pretty ok. I always drive 100 to 110 km/h
