Me (an American) looking at my turbo 400 trans that costs me a ham sandwich and a cherry ICEE from 7 Eleven and telling myself I don’t need another project lol
Love the fact you say the controllers don't work that well. I heard similar from one other guy in conversation and whenever I asked the question online the internet gets angry.
dont work well WITH MECHANICAL PUMP. Thats very important point since you could put a programmable ecu into it like dsl1 and with ofgear controller they work well as much as i have heard.
Thanks for posting such amazing transmission choice content. It's very good to hear from personal experiences, not internet stories. Some of your best factory choices are impossible to find, here in Canada. Thankfully, some of your top autos easier to come by. :)
Hell yeah thanks for this video and examples for the actual set ups. My buddy and I can't wait to get our hands on one of those 606s and put it in an American classic! Love your channel (#nobrohomo) and keep up the killer work!
On the automatic trans e control you can use a drive by wire pedal that will provide one of the signal needed, a rpm signal tru generator can be used. The other is a vehicle speed, and that is all you need
So for a manual, a T56 six speed is a great overall choice. Great. If one is going 5 speed, Tremec recently released the TKX, which is like a swap friendly version of the TKO. I haven't checked in a long time, but I know of an old Dodge truck in need of a rescue. The OM606 is a great diesel option when the Cummins 2.8R is too small, but a 6BT is too heavy. The OM606 is E300 CDI rare where I live, though, so getting any version of the engine would be pricey. But one can dream, no? Came here partially because of Team Boosted with their diesel powered Z-car.
Really good material you are producing here, I have a 2014 Sprinter L2H1 316cdi 4x4 is the om606 the best engine also in a Sprinter if one would like to make it last forever? Looking for 2-300hp lots of torque and probably a auto transmission so that it would stay on the torque curve better. Like to hear your professional opinion in my case, thanks.
Looking into these swaps again and this video is pretty convenient, CD009 seems like a really affordable option here so I was wondering what your flywheels for that swap weigh. They look fairly thick which makes me worry that it might have too much rotational inertia for what I want. If I need to I can probably make my own adapter kit for a thinner flywheel lol.
Thank you for your time donated to automotive enthusiastic community! This is a very informative video, I wander, did i miss any vids about G class tranfer cases? I am contemplating to convert my 2002 500g with M113 5L gasoline and 722.6 gear box with 750 transfer case. As a donor I got 1999 OM 606 with 722.6 automatic, my Q is any options or kits a to make auto electric TC shifting motor to a manual, as far as my understanding of this is a making instead a plastic splined shifting rod into alu or ss rod and shifter cable? If you will be kind to give me a suggestion, it will be great! Am I going wrong direction? Regards!
Great video thankyou luke! One question i have that u never answered is......What about the heavy duty 722.6 with the dsl 1 ecu and ofgear controller.......I ask because a) where im from rolling coal all the time going to bring problems from leo B) being able to have a couple of maps at the flick of a switch one for say off road use only😛 and one for economy/low smoke is a huge benefit and will not draw as much attention to a 400bhp om606.............i also like the flappy paddles(tiptronics)u can get with 722. So whats your advise im possitive many others wont want the restriction of the mechanical pump single setting while driving, i know I sacrifice its simplicity but its not worth it where im from a dual mapped ecu application is best
You can get a standalone controller for the 722.6, I have one in a box still from PCS with the whole pigtail and the gearbox connector or use OFGear controller. Never got around to putting a 722.6 in my W124 before I sold it, but that means I have a spare for my w211 with the OM648 in it.
Had this channel been an American channel: Loads of stupid jokes; loads of stupid editing transitions; know-at-all-lism; ...I can go on and on. Man, DieselPumpUk is by far the best informative channel i've seen in years. Your products and creations seems to be top notch. If I get me a G-wagon 90's or older, i'm definitely going to be your loyal customer. So happy I've found you guys. Cheers!!!
What about the combination 722.6 electrically controlled behind the motor running off Baldur's ECU driving the original om606 edc pump? Seems like there's so much potential with the 722.6 if the control is just refined well enough
Recommendations for trans fluid,,, Syn? VS Dino fluid, brands, and trans coolers. USA heat issues are real and kill transmissions on the regular. Thanks for the info better than any sales video you could make.
off-topic, what would the effect be if you had a no2 line into a suitable glowplug hole fitting and was open during an acceleration run? so rather than port injection it would still be injecting after the inlet valves have closed but of course, still running when the exhaust valves are open and help drive the turbo with the waste no2/ reduce smoke.
I thought the 722.608 was rated at about 330 Nm, but it can take 250hp from a 606? Thanks for the info btw, I was not into diesel at all before your video, but I now consider buying a w210 300td
in places that didnt get the om606, e.g. australia got 20 of them total apparently, someone exporting them from the uk? cant imagine international shipping would be too good for an engine of that size but, im a curious australian.
@DieselPumpUK I'm looking to go for a mild setup at least for now and I'm curious about the 400hp bracket. you mentioned that the 722.6 will take it stock you just dont use them because of ecu controlled problems when converting to Mechanical pump's. Now my question is are you saying that a stock 722.6 from a say 99 e300td will take 400hp? because if so I should be completely fine since I'm only looking to make around 300hp with one of your hybrid turbos and maxing out the stock pump.
I'm surprised you didn't mess with the Chrysler 3 speed autos like the 727 or 904/998/999 as they have a mechanical kickdown. The newer 4 speeds like the 500 and 518 can be a bit flakey due to the "bolt on" 4th gear, cheaper parts, and fluid compatibility.
Hi grate video, do you think I can upgrade a 722.6 with an after market TCU and stronger parts up to 1000 HP, unfortunately there is not much I can get from where I live! Maybe the fly wheel torque converter etc...
In a t1n sprinter van would you do a om617, or would the om606 fit? Looking for 200hp with 500nm torque, with manual trans or a manual auto. Daily driver with the occasional trailer.
Do you make a GM manual adapter that will have 12” clutch capacity? I am very interested in a om606 in a 4WD application. Nv4500 12” clutch compatibility. Excellent and very informative videos, by the way!
hy there!! you are sick men ! i am a patrol lover , and when a whatch your videos with the om606 turbo in it !!!! dammm !!! the td42 gearbox will handel the om606 engine ??
Have you ever looked into options for New Venture 4500 (5-spd) & 5600 (6-spd) manuals that you find in a lot of Dodge trucks and some GM trucks mostly from 1994 to 2007, the Mercedes G56 manual trans that you find in the newer Dodge diesel trucks mostly from 2007 to 2016 and the ZF5 and ZF6 that you find in some Ford diesel trucks. I didn't see any adapter kits for potential projects on the american/canadian side of the pond ;)
How much are the om606 and the gearbox plus any other things needed for a convertion of a Shogun/Pajero? Has anyone put this in a Mitsubishi Shogun/Pajero?
I just got my 190e 2.0 automatic , but I’m thinking of a OM606 swap and make it a manual. The transmittion that I saw were the 53DZ / BZ , as well as the T56 magnum. Anyone here who have done a swap / changed the transmittion from an auto to a manual , any tips / suggestion are appreciated
What manual transmissions can i swap into my W124 E300D? What cars have transmissions that bolt right on? Keep in mind e300’s are rare in the states which is why im looking for options
I have a 1975 jeep Cherokee chief with a amc360 th400 with Quadra trac dana44 front & back I’m wanting to swap the 360 for a om606 maybe looking for 300-350 hp & good torque I’m keeping the th400 & Quadra trac system looking for ideas not sure if I have to buy a engine premoded or if I can get one out of a used car & not have to mod too much not a good mechanic but I try🤣🤣🤣
Do you know which van gearboxes would work with it? Been looking at swapping it into a sprinter, running no more than 200hp. Would the stock gear box be ok?
You might consider a GM TH200, slightly larger than a TH 350 and used in Buick Grand Nationals Turbo V-6. among others. Close ratio 4 speed with .67 overdrive, no electronic, fully hydraulic trans. Art Carr at CPT can build them all the way up to 1000hp level but for the 400hp level only minor mods needed. Millions made during the 80s and 90s here in the US. By the way have you ever considered a compound Turbo. Quick Spool but very high boost is possible. A very popular and pretty common upgrade on Cummins Diesels here.
I have a 1975 Jeep Cherokee chief with a Quadra trac & th400 I’m wanting to use a Benz diesel for bout 300-350hp I would like some good torque for towing Wasn’t what engine for would work without major mods as I’m not a good mechanic 🤣🤣
I emailed them about compound turbos and they basically said they're not interested in them because the engine already spools quickly. I figure things can always get better lol
What about a billet internal upgraded 6R80 transmission with a standalone transmission controller with a billet triple disc torque converter. Behind a 600bhp om606.
I’m considering getting a 606 to swap into a 16 Tacoma 4x4. Automatic. And I’m unsure of the hp I want to make. 350-400 range maybe. And it’ll be a daily. Is that askin to much or is it doable. If doable. What transmission would you recommend
What about an NSG370? I for a 300hp engine? I am wanting to put on in my jk and would like to retain stock gearbox and tcase for exemplary crawling gearing.
What’s a good Manuel Transmission I can use that’ll keep it mechanical and allow me to use 4x4? I have a 98 k1500 with 4x4 rn it has the 5.7 vortec and 4L60e
How much for the OM606 engine? I need one to build my Y61 Nissan Patrol. Had the horrendous 3.0 ZD30 had a blown heads. What do I need to know about the build? How much change do I need to do from the standard/manufacture setup of the nissan Patrol, I have the 5speed TD42 gearbox, where can I find the adapter plate? How much does it cost? Does the standard Y61 ZD30 cluster run with the build?
As a rule in the gas world more hp means less mpg, is it the same in diesel? I'd like a 400-500 HP dailyable 0M606 in a 1984 Chevy 4 door long bed. What kind of fuel economy could I expect with a 6 speed behind it?
My concern is chatter, would having the ZF with your adapter or CD009 have excessive chatter? The 6 spd CLK trans has the option of going with the dual mass flywheel, however according to your chart it won't be suitable for a 450-hp setup. I was hoping we could get a video one day on flywheel/chatter sounds from the adapters you offer? Would really love to go with your ZF kit for the 606
I got y61 2005 on 38"15,5 R15 tires and diff in 5,13, Im wondering if the automatic can take this om606 and maybe get around 200hp from that motor. Is it posible for that gearbox to handle that or would you recomand some other option, I use the car for snow drive and mountain tours in summer in Iceland.
What all is done to your 80e? I’m about to swap my 2500 suburban and it comes with one. Will be using y’all’s adaptor. If planning on 5-600 daily hp. Hopefully closer to 1000lbs tq.
hello. I have an om605 in a w202 and I want to increase the horsepower to the maximum of the diesel pump, I'm not sure how many mm it is. but I think it's a 7. Please tell me which turbo to put in to have the minimum consumption stock style 7/7.5 and when I step on it to deliver maximum power with the stock pump. I read on the internet that it reaches 250hp. please give me some recommendation.
@@lilbHEMI I think he dont know that, show me what project hes having 722.6 trans and where he done something on that? hes just refereing on stock transmission... You can do a lot whit thoes trans, if you look mayby @turbobandit videos, there is +1000hp mb and they use only 722.6 transmission because thoes can handle it.
So, what is the appropriate automatic transmission for a G-wagen with OM606, around 350hp. I'd use the G300D as a daily driver; occasional off-road, camping, hunting; and regular towing of about 2.5 tonnes? This question assumes switching the IP from electrical to the OM603 mechanical pump. If keeping and updating the electrical OEM IP to allow 350 HP, then would upgrading to the 722.636, strengthened internals, better conductor plate, and an OFgear transmission controller be appropriate? My question boils down to what is the appropriate transmission for OM606: 1.) ~350hp with the OM603 mechanical IP and 2.) ~350hp with an upgraded OM606 electrical IP?
from research ive done getrag isnt amazing. idk where youre located but im in the states doing a 124 build. i bought a zf6 37dz and had it shipped here for less than $400
Would a 5-6 speed mercedes gasoline gearbox (from SLK/ W203) be able to be upgraded to handle 276 hp / 385 nm tq? (C36 AMG) Or is it necessary to have the diesel box?
