If you’re around my age, you probably grew up watching Omar Gooding, from his hosting gig on Nickelodeon’s “Wild & Crazy Kids,” to his role as Mo on “Smart Guy” and his breakout role as Sweetpea in the movie “Baby Boy.” It was an honor hanging out with him-he’s super down to earth and hilarious!

This would be Omar’s very first time eating Indian food, so I was pumped to show him the ropes. He’s not big into spice, so I’d go a little easy on him in terms of heat! Inside, we met Angat, whose wife is expecting!
We’d be eating a thali, which is a huge platter containing smaller bowls of different Indian dishes. It would include gobi manchurian, a samosa, chana masala, aloo “Kobe (for Kobe Bryant),” butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, dal, saag paneer, and more! We’d also have garlic naan, biryani, chapati, and raita. It smelled so good!
We started with the chicken tikka masala, which was so creamy and made with tender breast meat. Next was the butter chicken, followed by the dal makhani, which is made with black lentils. It’s earthy, tasty, and really healthy. The dal tadka is a mushier yellow dal and is also amazing!
The aloo gobi contains potatoes and cauliflower, and the shahi paneer comes in a rich, yellow gravy made with cream and tomatoes. It’s very creamy! Next was the saag paneer, which was like a creamy spinach dip! The chana masala had a slight kick and was also very tasty!
Then, we talked a bit about Omar’s movie “A.M. Radio,” which is available on Tubi! It touches on lots of important topics and is a beautifully told story!
Next, the tandoori chicken arrived! We tried the tangy and sour pickles, the aloo samosa, and then their amazing drink made with masala water. It was a little strong!
The tandoori chicken was smoky, tender, and juicy! We followed that with the gobi manchurian, which is an Indo-Chinese cauliflower dish that kind of reminds me of popcorn chicken. It’s unbelievable and is coated in an incredible sauce!
Finally, we jumped on the king of dishes, the lamb biryani! It’s insane on its own, and then we added some raita to make it creamy. You can also mix in the other curries as well! It’s so flavorful. Each dish was better than the last!
Then, Omar and I left out to go have some tacos at his taco spot!
