Thank you very much! My next ship will be the Krakatoa, a modded version of the Vulcan. I love the Vulcan but due to the vanilla in-game limitations, I was not able to fully realize my original vision for it, until now. Guide coming soon!
Very excited to see it. I've started this game a dozen times . I mostly like the ship building, base building and exploring. Not really interested in becoming Starborn at this time.
Just wanted to say thank you for the ship build guides you have done. I really like the aesthetic of the ships you do and have enjoyed rebuilding them and flying them. Can't wait to see what you do with the creation club. Thanks again!
Mods are definitely going to be employed from here on out, I was just waiting for the Creation Kit to be released for all the console folks. Thanks for watching!
You mention the Creation Kit, do you intend to release your ships as official Creations? This would have potential, your builds are beautiful architecture masterpieces.
I won’t say no, but a major concern that I would have is that doing so would basically eliminate the need for the instructional nature of my content, which I think is what brought most of my viewers to my channel. I will keep it in consideration though, and if there is a good way to do it without damaging the growth of my channel, I’d be totally open to it.
Yes, that would be a great choice! I built this long before the latest patch, hell even before the patch that added difficulty sliders, so that Elianora mod wasn’t even available.
The Vanguard Obliterators and Exterminator 95mev Autos are very close in terms of DPS, and they both top the chart. One is slightly better for sustained DPS, and one is slightly better for burst DPS, I just don’t remember which. All I know is those are the two most versatile weapons in the game and I run both of them with Hellfires as my third weapon group. It’s my favorite loadout and anything else that I have tried feels like I’m shooting BB guns at my targets. Thanks for watching!
@@WizeOldWizard thanks for the detailed explanation! I also think particle beams are by far the best and the vanguard hellfires are super satisfying to use as well, their dps is so good that they even work against shields to an extent lmao I haven’t used rockets too much yet, I see a lot of people swear by them as well
@AcBaLkX I can’t handle how slow the missiles are, now, when I get to NG+, I’ll consider using the Starborn torpedos that are included with the DarkStar mod. I’d love to give those bastards a taste of their own medicine.
This is a good point, but for the sake of clarity, it is not mandatory for the build of the ship because the only reason for that mission is to obtain the UC Prison Shuttle. You are absolutely right though, to get to the Comspike and Conduction Grid quests you have to have already completed Echoes. And, to be completely fair, technically Absolute Power and The Best There Is are both optional to the build as well. I just consider those mandatory for a slight edge when playing on Extreme.
Looks like I can’t get the commspike because no one is at the Key because I finished the quest and SysDef is there. Jazz isn’t at Ship Services and Porrima doesn’t have it either
You can just install the Darkstar mod and use those versions of the comspike/conduction grid. They are significantly more powerful, and you can stack each one twice. Same with the Darkstar scan jammer.
You build the DarkStar Terminus, which is basically a landing pad with ship builder, and all of the DarkStar ship modules are accessible from the Terminus. The author of that mod has a RU-vid page called R.L. Parker Gaming, so that is your best source of information for anything relating to those mods. If you watch the Krakatoa video, you can see the mod in-action, and there are links to follow in the video and description.
Oh you mean a mod from the Creations tab. No thanks. I don’t trust those mods for being reliable enough. And with the way my game behaves (crashes even when I manually hard save) I’m not about to introduce more headaches. Truth be told , I don’t know how anyone still plays this game on console the way it crashes all the time. No idea if it’s just me or not but if I could I’d get my money back.
@@WizeOldWizard ok can you tell me more about this Darkstar mod, since you’re using it? Because one of my big reasons for not going through NG+ is because I don’t want to lose the stats on my suit and have to rebuild my ships. Does this mod allow me to keep them or make it easier to reroll them? 🤔
I sincerely hope you don't stop building. Your ships are amazing. The Creation part is OK but to watch you build helps many of us. You're very creative. Your building techniques are very helpful. Keep up the good work
Planning to get back in the game with the new patch, and just in time you come up with another interesting build. My go to ship, no matter what else I have built so far, is still the improved Basilisk, that's just a design for the ages and an absolute monster. But I will build the Omen just for fun to see how it compares. Als: why the Aurora grav drive? The RD-3000 Beta has a better thrust, better health, and clocks in at just 9 mass more. BTW: You and Veronica - still a better love story than Twilight! 😀
Mass was a very important consideration in this, so much so that even 1 extra point would begin to decrease Mobility. You can absolutely choose that grav drive if you want, but there’s no real need to increase thrust, as the 13g gives the ship as much as it needs, and drive health is irrelevant because I never worry about whether my drive is damaged in combat. If I get myself into a fight, I finish the fight. Hahaha Veronica just acts nice because I’m a customer. I bet she’s actually a bipolar mess!
Wizard, you need to get the Darkstar creation mods I just rebuilt the Razorleaf and I have 41,812 cargo with 25,550 shielded with 100 maneuverability and 180 speed plus 7,200 shields It includes a building landing pad. You can put at your outpost and it has absolutely every engine and every habitat made by every manufacturer. With Darkstar variants for everything You don’t have to go anywhere to build a ship.
Bro your piloting is insane! That boost turn into a drift w/ thruster is crazy I’ve been tying to copy it since you did it in the scythe but I just can’t get it right.
@drshoots101 i disagree with you completely. We build different ships, neither are inherently better or worse. I LOVE the ship you just made a post about!
Annddd another epic Wizard ship build. I love it. Can't wait to see what you do with mods now that they're out for Xbox! I'm still playing with them and deciding which ones I want to run, lol. I know a few mandatory ones that I want, but otherwise I'm shopping around.
1:20....Looks like your moving on, far far away from us newbie captains, ship builders. ??!! This *Creation Club* sounds like the next logical move ,for a Professional Passionate Ship builder. From my Crew , to yours.. wishing you the best and truest path , in all your StarField Adventures, Captain.
Not sure what I said to make you guys think that I’m not going to keep building ships, all I said was that the Omen would be my last 100% vanilla build, since we all have mods now! I’ve been itching to increase the level of control I have with the builder, while also decreasing the restrictions that the vanilla builder imposes on us. The first modded build is releasing right… NOW!
Really cool. Looks like a bigger, up-gunned Wraith with a better hab layout. Also, being the serious amateur historian that I am, I feel I must point out that the Red Baron was one Freiherr Manfred von Richthoffen who, in fact, flew a TRI-plane (Fokker DR.I to be exact). ;) On a related note, hearing Ghengis Khan going head on vs the Va'Ruun zealots in ham to ham combat was something to behold, lol!
Ghengis showing up as your ally in space combat is always a fun twist, and I love when he joins in. No kidding about the Red Baron eh? Awesome facts, thanks for that, and thanks for watching another one!
Richtofen only flew the DR.1 tri-wing on the last 17 missions he went on. His first plane was the Fokker F.1, he also flew an Albatros and Halberstadt.
Hell yes I've been waiting for this I will say best mod for me for shipbuilding is unlocking all ship parts in outpost lander. Excluding quest locked items Edit: after building I made a few cosmetic changes. Mainly swapping nova radiator for deimos and moving spine a in front of it with a spine c behind. Also added a nova braking engine and cowling in between the wings using the flip glitch on deimos wing a. Since it's pretty much covered you don't see the glitch. You're ships I rarely every make changes to but if I do they are small cosmetics
I’m currently building an extensive mod list, and I will absolutely be including that one. I’ve already shown, many times, where parts can be acquired, and how unlockable parts are unlocked. Now I’ll be able to just recommend this mod and save my viewers a BUNCH of time. I will still build part-by-part, I’ll just be able to skip the ‘part gathering’ phase. Let me know what you think of the Omen after you’ve had enough time to really get a feel for it. Thanks for watching!
Nice one! Goes right along the ideas I had for a bounty hunter concept. Going to use some moded modules for my design and borrow ideas from your very well built ship! 🤟
I have been strategically dabbling since launch, but put strict restrictions on what I could use. Now I can freely experiment with ship building mods, instead of being limited to QoL stuff. Didn’t want to leave out the massive console crowd!
They do, but normally that would equal a shield rating of 2700 with the 28t. I got an extra 300 from somewhere, it is a bug and some of my other ships have it as well but with an even higher buff, up to 3600 when I’m in the ship.
Thank you! My outfit is an apparel mod from Nexus, not sure if it’s been made for CK yet. It’s a leather re-texture of the Striker Streetwear, and the item must be added via console command, unless you looted the Streetwear (no mask version) during the Striker quests.
Do you need a certain amount of temples done for the armillary to actually glow in your grav drive? I've tried to do the porthole trick to view the grav drive on some ships like how you've done but when I actually go into space and look through the window there's nothing glowing like how it should be?
The armillary tends to disappear after you exit your ship, or between taking off and arriving in orbit, not sure which. Either way, just go to the armillary screen, remove it, and then build it again. After that it will be visible until you grav jump or land somewhere, again, not sure exactly what causes it to visually disappear.
I love all these builds but can someone explain to me the point behind maxing the power usage for all the categories? Even without counting teh grave drive you would need to to unpower things to max out others.
It isn’t really possible to do this and achieve maximum possible performance. You have to balance your total power requirement with how much power your reactor makes. You ALWAYS want your shields and engines fully powered, then the rest goes into your weapons. Having a partial stack of engines helps with this as you’ll then have extra points to place into your weapons systems. The only shields worth using require 12 power so you’ll always be stuck using 12 of your power pips on that. But, depending on engine choice, you may only need to put 6 or 8 points in engines to fully power them. It’s for this reason that I use Auto-type weapons, as their DPS does not suffer from partial power allocation. Non-autos fire slower if they aren’t fully powered.
Really love these builds, you show them so well, easy to follow on and help us make our ships once we see how you do them. One request I have, can you maybe do some builds for , say level 30 to 40ish? I have to admit I get a bit lost as to when certain parts become available (Skill Level wise) and where to find them! I recently started a new game and I am some way off Level 60 :-)
@@WizeOldWizardI built it and I must say.. it is a great ship. One of my favorites. I’m not big on combat so I can’t say much about how it performs 😅 but the few times I did run into some enemies it’s handled like a champ!
@BakedBeanGaming excellent! I definitely seek out ship combat, but if you don’t do that intentionally, nothing you run into will best you in a fight. Thanks for the feedback!
One question and this is not a knock in anyway shape or form, but why did you pick those particular engines instead of something like the white dwarf just wondering
That was the original goal, but even with no cargo holds, the ship’s mobility would suffer a lot with the 3015’s. A ship meant for piracy and smuggling needs some cargo capacity at least.
When you take a registered ship in and completely swap out the modules to build something like this do you get $$credits for the modules you swap out? Or do they charge you the same regardless?
It doesn’t matter how the ship was acquired, any part that you replace in the builder will give you back a fraction of the original cost. You never get back what you originally paid. So in the case of a captured ship, since that was no cost to acquire, you would technically be getting credits back. Although, the cost of that part’s replacement will usually be much higher, so you’ll still end up spending credits to make changes.
@@WizeOldWizard Well I guess you have to pay the hangar fees, labor, dock fees. Maybe in the future our outpost will have a hangar with ability to store our own parts
I’ve been trying to get one video out every week since I started, but, life just happens sometimes. And, sometimes, the outpost cargo links are so stubborn that they actively try to prevent you from completing a build, no matter how hard you try. Thanks for your continued support!
@WizeOldWizard not at all, it's awesome. I've been messing around with transforming a Wight into my own custom pirate ship (I enjoy tweaking and enhancing ships while keeping some of their general design choices, namely shape.. in this case, the two arms and cockpit being further back on the ship), and this fits with my own ideas very well. I'm likely going to build it and possibly tweak it a bit. Great work as usual!
I am feeling much more comfortable with editing and recording voiceovers, and I’m having a lot of fun doing it. Really appreciate you sticking around and being such a consistent supporter of my content. Thanks for watching again!
@WizeOldWizard what a great ship!! Since I'm on Xbox and we've been without mods until recently, I did put some Darkstar Astrodynamics weapons and Reactor that match the look and dimensions of the vanilla modules. I love the layout! Easy to get around the inside of the ship and I love the core window!!!
Here's a Spaniard who wants to thank you from the bottom of his heart. It's one of the most elegant designs I've seen and that I've felt most like my own mind. Unfortunately, I no longer have the patience I used to have, partly due to health problems, but this video, your step-by-step explanation, and the result (In my case it took almost 2 hours to find the equivalent in the language hahaha). It's magnificent. I think I'll also make one of your cargo ships, mostly to cover my Digital Diogenes. As I said, thank you so much for this marvel and all your work. It was a pleasure to meet you. I'll share your work with my acquaintances, and you have a new subscriber.
Well I certainly hope that I took most of the thinking out of it for you so that it was as easy as possible to replicate. Thank you very much for the kind words, the engagement, and for subscribing!
Do you think you could perhaps do a House Va'ruun themed ship at some point? It would go great for players RPing as one of The Promised. Perhaps it could be an overhaul of the Va'ruun Hymn?
I will absolutely do this at some point, but I think I’ll save it for when Shattered Space is released. Hopefully we get some wicked goodies in the ship builder. The current Va’ruun ships are just Stroud-Eklund bricks that I really dislike. I’m guessing that since the Va’ruun we currently encounter are zealots that have removed themselves from the rest of their people, they no longer have access to actual Va’ruun ships.
@Frosto_Boi not a bad idea, though I haven’t liked the Taiyo habs compared to the rest. That could be a good design challenge too though. I’ll keep this in mind!
Was waiting for this one since I saw it in Vulcan video. It didnt disappoint!!! Yesterday I finished building my small figher ship... 180 speed, 100 mobility with just 2 engines..So alot reactor power for weapons.. It is a beast and best combat ship I ever used in starfield.. Bud damm, didnt enjoy it for too long.. Now I have to build this thing.. Love your Omen - considering it is vanila no glitch build. It is best looking ship I saw in starfield...This will be my new main ship.. ( And I hate ladders in my ship - and now I will have 2 :-) ).. As always great video, really enjoyed it!! And your no cut building is really impressive !!!
@shanehall8447 modded builds are on the horizon, but I’ll still be avoiding obvious glitch techniques. It comes down to how much I hate the clear, sudden intersections between parts. Some awesome things have been accomplished by builders using glitches, it’s just not my cup of tea.
Build it, took it for a spin and now I have my home ship until I go to unity... I really like it.. It is great balance.. not too big, not small.. And layout of interior is amazing.. Dont even care I have two ladders now... You did really good job!!
Taking on the freestar! Nice job man almost a level I can build your ships again. Hail the Va’Ruun and the great serpent we will take these ships and become snake protectors of va’ruun’ki
@danceswithowls4000 Bounty Hunter suit, and a UC helmet with the armor plating over the visor. I require daily offerings in the form of Va’ruun, Spacer, or Ecliptic sacrifices.
The Omen looks fantastic, and I think changing the weapon loadout was the right move. I also liked your exit from Neon. The Exterminators (ie. mEV95) are stronger than PBOs. I moved from PBO 175s to 95mEVs, as well. The damage is greater in the same amount of time, with no problems with sustain in long fights. I've made a similar change with my C-class weapon loadout (PBOs to Obliterators). Thank you again for another great build!
Yep, it is deceiving, but basically the game shows us the fire rate from the start of a burst to the end of that burst, and within that small window of time, the fire rate is accurate. The problem is the game doesn’t show us the rate of fire from the start of one burst to the start of the next. It does not factor in the delay between bursts, and that is what knocks the PBO’s so far down the list. Just so you know, the class C particle beams are outclassed by the class B ones. If you want max damage, class B seems to be the best choice. I used the same weapons for my soon to be released modded Vulcan build, the Krakatoa, but with a twist. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching!
Wow, another winner. This one is fun to fly. Now I have to go through my ships and update my weapon loadouts for your other ships I built :) . I can't wait to see what you can come up with when you use the Creation mods. Thanks for all the work you continue to put into your videos. Update: Gone through 2 NG+ and in each I have found this ship is just the right size for the crews. The smaller ships are great if I ever get a alternate universe with no Constellation and have to go it alone or with a small crew. I feel literally claustrophobic with the whole Constellation team (and Cora) on the smaller ships. LOL
My mind is churning with ideas thanks to mod availability. Thinking I might start with a Super Basilisk? Sucks about the confusion with weapons, I humbly apologize for my lack of awareness regarding that. Sometimes numbers are deceptive, and Bethesda fooled us all with hidden variables. But, now we know!
Finally did my first NG+. One of the first things I did was do the Mantis quest and rebuilt this ship. I also replaced the top Habs with the Crimson Fleet Habs available on Creations. The workshop, captains quarters and the 1x1 armory work perfectly on this ship. I’m a fan of your entire fleet, but THIS is my go to ship.
Wize, the central ladder is great…but, when I enter the ship the ladder is facing away from me. Is this build possible with the ladder facing you as you enter? So you don’t have to go around ladder prior to climbing it.
No, the ladders are always in that orientation. But, if you notice, when using a ladder-entry landing bay (such as the Deimos or Nova or Hopetech) you spawn in facing forward. With the hatch-entry landing bay, you spawn in as if you walked through the hatch. So in the Helion with the same landing bay, you spawn facing forward instead of facing the rear of the ship. So if this really bugs you, swap the hatch-entry bay for a ladder-entry bay, and you’ll spawn in facing the interior ladder. That’d be the only real solution, but that would also mean you lose the bottom deck.
Exactly the opposite, Vulcan is best for smuggling as it has a higher shielded cargo capacity. Omen is better for combat because it’s faster. They can both handle those roles just fine either way though so it’s more a matter of personal choice. If you’re running mods, however, I highly recommend the Krakatoa instead of the Vulcan.
@drshoots101 w1z4rdofb0z on reddit. For Discord, once you create your account, there is an invite link on my YT channel homepage, just click on that and it will take you straight to the readme on my server.
That is a good point, I will make sure to mention that in my future videos. The vanilla ships are all in my original universe, but I built the Kronos and Typhon in NG+1.
@@WizeOldWizard Thank you very much! great to hear you will include it in the future ^^ Main reason I've started to think about it is that I went from ng+2 straight to past 10 not building any ship in between so I could really feel a difference when I did (I exclusively used the guardian in the meantime)
with the help of your guide on basilic ship i created a great ship that i want to look all the time thanks for your guidance on this galactic journey of hours... ohh great wize old wizard thanks a lot again and again
Nice build! I quite liked it. I did a couple things differently in my first version: Namely I did not want a ladder that went between more than 2 decks. So went with the HopeTech landing bay (love those red lights particularly for a Pirate build) and used a nova top docker (replacing the nova shroud in the middle on top of the ship) with the mini radiators on each side to deflect from it's non-perfectness hehe. I also had no habs on that bottom level. I just built v2 and went with your bay, but the ladder stops in the Battle Stations. I instead went with the Taiyo Enhanced Shogun Cockpit (at least I think it was, it was the best Taiyo cockpit and had 320 cargo) which opens onto the 1x1 behind the cockpit. I also went with the NovaGalactic Armory (love having those mannequins on ship) instead of the workshop because on the bottom level, I used the Crimson Fleet (Mod) Cargo 1x1 which adds 700 cargo capacity for 5 Mass that the bay opens into and beyond that I have the Crimson Fleet Workshop which has everything in one 2x1. It also has an infinite capacity chest for those times when you just have too much hahaha I was utterly surprised at how deadly it was in combat! Now I have to get the UC Mission done so I can get all those sweet Vanguard weapons (I don't like unlocking things with mods that get unlocked naturally by playing the game, I can be patient hehe) for my v2 build. Was also pretty pleased with myself that I managed to do it from memory this second time round ;P One final thing, I think it looks better with the Deimos Wings back one spot so they end up on each side of the fuel tanks. The line coming off the dual prong front is nicer as well.
One of the best things about the ship builder is the ability for anyone to take a ship and make many adjustments according to their preference. My discord server is a great place to share photos of your builds, doesn’t matter if they’re one of my designs or an original, feel free to join, and thanks for watching!
@@WizeOldWizard OK so just finished a loop using the ship. Actually two of them! LOL I wanted to run the Crimson Fleet first in this runthrough, so I made it as a Pirate Ship as listed above. I quickly swapped out all but the Battle Stations and Captain's Area for Crimson Fleet habs (Creation Mod and I wholly recommend it) to just finish out the theme of the ship. Before I finished Kryx's Legacy though, I went to do the Mantis quest (now the second time I played as "Mantis" for the majority of the run and boy is it fun) and I made a Mantis version using the Razorleaf as a base that is more in line with what was listed above. And I gotta say aside from the great layout, impressive combat, and all around good use of non-hab parts, the ship while large is also compact enough to get you much closer to where you need to be when you land on planets. Its squat footprint showed up as a positive time and time again! For instance, when doing "Failure to Communicate", I landed right next to Lopez's farm. With my old ship designs, it was always a walk. And that just kept happening in other locations as well! Take walking the pilgrims path: With this ship, I landed on the island with the insects that direct you to the "star map" rather than having to skip-jump across the lake to it! Regarding discord, I appreciate the invitation, but I don't really discord. Sharing here is good enough for me :) Again well done! Final tweak: I did away with the ballistic weapons in favor of some suppressors for those rare occasions when you just want to disable the ship which happens in a few quests. Sure, with targeting you could probably disable it without destroying it. But thematically for things like hostage rescue it's nice to leave their ship intact. Or if you want to steal the ship hehehe
Build it and let me know what you think! I spend a lot of time balancing and optimizing, and this ship is the epitome of my experience with building vanilla ships. It is exactly as heavy as it can be before losing mobility. Thanks for watching!
I greatly appreciate your support and engagement! My first fully modded build is coming very soon. One other video to get out before that one, but I should be able to get the guide for Kronos out within two weeks.
Love it. I've been using your Scythe since you released it but with all the Amps I need to craft and carry while exploring planets I decided it was time to use a ship with an infirmary so I can do it from my ship and not have to go back to the Lodge all the time. Not a dealbreaker but it's nice. Did the Basilisk have an infirmary, I don't remember? 🤔
Yessir, Basilisk, Citadel, Vulcan (and Krakatoa) all have infirmaries. There is also a mod that makes the infirmaries actually function, as long as you have Rosie Tannehill aboard as a crewmate.
@@WizeOldWizard First off, thanks for the rec on Darkstar. I am using it, and oh boy did going through NG+ mess up everything the first time LOL! Immediately went through it again and the game runs MUCH better. Load times are practically instant, and I am able to turn on the Autosave function (after 10 min) when pausing the game. I am going to go through NG+ with is stuff until my Starborn suit is Level MK 30+. The stats should be off the charts. As for the Infirmary, why wouldn't they function properly? Why the need for Rosie? Another bug perhaps? BTW his ship is cool and does the job but it's also small and no pharmaceutical lab so when I'm done again NG+ing everything I'll settle and build one or three of your ships. 🤪
That wouldn’t have anything to do with the reactor, that error means that you have weapons attached that would total more than 12 power in one group. You should have: 6x Vanguard Obliterators, 6x Vanguard Hellfires, and 3x Exterminator 95MeV Auto Helion Beams. Each weapon has a “max power” rating, and each weapon group can have a maximum of 12 power applied to it. So, if a single weapon’s ‘max power’ rating is 2, then you can equip 6 of them. If the max power is 3, you can only equip 4 of that weapon. If the max power is 4 (such as those Exterminators) you can only equip 3. For extra clarification, you can equip weapons that would equal 12 required power regardless of chosen reactor. So if your reactor makes only 20 power, you could still equip the same number of weapons.
@TheChenny73 it absolutely is, but if you want another step up from this, the Scythe takes the cake for combat efficiency compared to any of my other ships. If you build that ship, equip it with these weapons. Since it has the fastest engines in the vanilla game, it is almost untouchable. You’ll love it.
I’ve built an entire fleet of vanilla ships, but I will be utilizing mods from now on. That said, other than ships like my upcoming Kronos, you should still be able to tweak my modded builds to be vanilla, with a few changes to core component and weapon choices. I don’t want to entirely leave out the vanilla crowd!
