--------------
WARNING! Motor rooms are for engineers, well I AM an engineer, but guess what I mean is "authorised lift engineers". I know the dangers in these rooms as I've been interested in electronics and lifts since I was about 10 years old.
I can't put it in any other clearer words than this... you'll die if you touch the wrong thing in a motor room! Motors run on 415 volts, the cabinet is probably 110 volts! Keep the interest and passion going for what you enjoy, but don't get yourself into a situation where you may never come back. Be careful people!
--------------
I noticed this building on my radar and the unmistakeable shape of a motor room at the top.
It gets better, with the exception of a photoelectric beam in the doors, it's a completely original Schindler Platt lift!
It gets EVEN BETTER! The motor room hatch is unlocked.
Well, it gets even better, so guess you'll just have to watch the video.
Yeah I know "what's this guy like!?" you're probably thinking, but was so excited to see this vintage lift motor room!
I always try to edit my videos down to a watchable chunk, but, sorry, just couldn't do it with this one because there is so much in it that I just want to share with you guys!! I've cut it into two parts, but I'm sure you'll agree (well if you're interested in old lifts that is LOL!) it's the most interesting lift motor room I've filmed to date!!
Hope you enjoy watching it also! :)
Matt

Dear Matt. You say that You are an engineer. I see that You now some things, but I would say that You don't work on elevators. The BIG switch on the floor in the machine room is not overload switch. That is over travel switch. It is activated when elevator doesn't stop in end levels and it "cuts" all three phases. I worked on this model of elevator for five and a half years. And then I switched to more modern elevators and worked for four more years. If You have questions, contact me, please

I don't have to wonder what this guy is like. He's like a big-eyed boy in a candy store, and I don't blame him. This is wonderful! So glad you found it and was able to sneak in. I understand the wheel selector better than the other but I'll get better. As to the voltage, the really and switches are 110 and the motors are 415, right? I also heard that anything over 400 volts will reach out and grab you. Are the motors 3-phase? The relays had 3 contacts. Just wondering and the best to you. You give your best to us. Hi Chay!!

Btw if you just wait and watch, you can see the NC floor slsector relays join when someone presses a button inside the car. Paitence is required tho :P The relays are normally offset too *(1 for g, 2 for floor one) I am not sure with this lift, but that's how it is with Otis. Glad you finally worked out what the relays were :) It's not hard as it's just logical :)

Same with me being interested in electronics but I’m still only 10 BUT I completely understand them lol I’ve see 10 machine rooms within 5 months.

oh nice!! When I first started work in 1989 I already had a hobby with electronics. I was making latching relay circuits when I was 10 years old. It's great to have a hobby in electronics - it's something that you might learn at school then forget, but people that are interested in it can use it when they start work. What job are you planning to do when you leave school? :)

The mystery roller switches on the selector wheel... Could they be hooked up to the panel lamps on each floor which indicates where the lift currently is?
@patricksifmas
@patricksifmas 2 года назад
yes that is true. the rollers are connected to some contacts, and when the roller gets pushed in or out, the floor lamp activates.

01:56 : "doesnt do anything" yes, it does something. it turns the lift on or off. translate "ein" and "aus" from german
