I think it’s their last performance together before they all start going of to the military and they gave it everything. These will be the iconic performances of these songs. What slays me is how much money they bring into South Korea every year. That in 2018 7% of all tourists in Korea were there because of BTS. I can only imagine that percentage had only grown. And their international impact on how the world sees South Korea and the inclusion and love they spread is unmatched. I could go on and on. The first song/video you reacted to was Dynamite. 😊

My personal theory is that they are seeing how long they can grow their hair out before they have to buzz it all off when they enlist in the military. And what happened with that is that the congress in South Korea was still arguing about whether or not BTS should be exempt from the mandatory military service and BTS said, just forget it we’ll go. Jin said in a recent v live that he had gotten a lot of hate mail for not serving in the military by age 28 ( he was given an extension until age 30) and that it hurt him a lot. He said he has always been willing to serve his country. And although it’s not something our country does now, it is something we have done in the past, for example: the Vietnam war. Even Elvis was drafted for that, did you know? And with Kim Jung Un in the north threatening just a few days ago, nuclear strikes against targets in South Korea and Japan, beefing up their military is of the utmost importance to South Korea. The demilitarized zone between north and South Korea is just a short drive from Seoul, where BTS live.

You really should react to Jimin's live performance of FILTER. It's mind blowing!! 💯 There are two different performances. Day one, and Day 2. My favorite video of it is Day one by BTS in trends. It's the one where you can see everything not just his face, and from the waist up. You miss so much of the amazing dance from most of the post of the performance. Hi Toney. Thanks for reacting to these two opening songs of the YTC Busan concert. It was amazing and the choreo for Run BTS was new and debuted at this concert. Unfortunately they won’t be performing it again at least until they all return from their military duties in 2025. Military service in SK is mandatory for all abled body males starting at age 18 or 20 (I’m not sure), with few exceptions. Although some people tried (not BTS), they weren’t able to get exemptions for the guys. Jin, being the oldest, will serve first. I think he’ll be going in December of this year. The others will eventually follow with the goal that they all complete their service by 2025. They’re required to serve between 18-24 months. We army are saddened to see them leave. BTS has never tried to get out of their duty. Although they probably prefer not to go, they will serve their country proudly. In the meantime, we’ll wait with eager anticipation for their safe return. It will surely be a great day when they come together once again , to perform in person for Army 💜

They HAVE to serve in the military in S Korea (it is the law) by the time they turn 30 (that is for BTS, for others, the age is 28), so they have no choice, but right now, Jin is first as he turns 30 in Dec., the others can choose when to enlist on a less stringent schedule, but I believe all will go sometime in 2023 (perhaps after solo projects are finished and released) so that they can get done and out. Supposedly their serving requirement is 18 months, so we are hoping they will regroup and return in 2025 (BTS).

Every time I saw a reaction on this concert I always wanna cry that I couldn't fly to SK that time and aside from the fact that it was a FREE CONCERT, it's kinda frustrating bc it is the last concert of them as a whole group before they enlist to military service. Jimin was/is my bias for so many reasons, voice and his dance talent being only a couple of them. He is crazy intelligent and has got to be one of the sweetest people on the planet. But the more I paid attention and learned about the group, the more I became an OT7 fan, they all bring so much to the table! Man they killed that so hard. So. Dang. Hard. The BEST (especially when considering they are totally out of practice of performing like that). As for military service it's complicated. Yes it's mandatory. And if they had gotten an exclusion it could have been politically tricky for them. But haven't they already served their country? More than any other performer? More than even Korea's national athletes? So I feel like this whole thing needs a reframe: As far as assisting national security, allegiance to the country and doing their part to ensure the future welfare of The Republic of South Korea they have ALREADY served - as cultural ambassadors, meetings with their President, as Youth spokespeople at the UN (twice!) and with President Biden for goodness sakes and not least - by filling their State coffers with TRILLIONS of Won thru tourism, etc.... They have already invested their time, their name, their thinking, their hard work, their social capital... Willingly and without hesitation. They done served their country already. And now they're making them put on a uniform too? whoa. that is something.

They all killed it but Tae, Jimin, Suga, and Hobi especially stood out. Jin had been hospitalized for a throat infection a few days before and barely got his voice back to be able to sing so he killed it for effort IMO. Jungkook and Namjoon always give 120% on stage and did here. About service keep in mind mandatory service is expected and a social obligation in many countries like South Korea, Israel, Switzerland etc it’s implemented differently in all but yes it’s foreign to US folks. To them they didn’t want to get an exemption (that in my opinion they waaay earned but it’s political to not give them one). The other kpop companies tried to drag BTS into getting all kpop idols exemptions which BTS didn’t ask for. It’s been a big headache and stress for years. They seem very proud to do the same service as their fathers, brothers, uncles, friends. They never back down or think themselves above it and the way they are doing it they don’t owe this fairly corrupt government any favors they are actually totally making a boss move how they did it on their terms. No one using them. They are staggered enlistment a bit with Jin going soon (he turned in his paperwork this week just waiting for his slot which make take a few weeks or 2 months) and then the rest will go after their solo stuff is released. I’d expect Namjoon and Hobi go soon after Jin (rumors are RMs album and his collab with Pharrell drop this month) then Suga, dunno about the youngest 3 but sometime next year. They they will be back in 18 months. In reality change is good, it’s part of growing up and becoming an adult like going off to college. They need and want to do it and honestly we likely are only looking at 12 months or less with all of them serving and then they will be back and Jins solo album will come once he returns. It’s scary because it’s unknown to many of us but as frustrating as it is like Jin showed us they (and Jin especially) have given us the tools a helmet and taught us to ride on our own. They will join us again and I hope we all use the time to better ourselves that’s what BTS would want and what would honor them. Hell I’m still back logged on their content and they have been dropping stuff so fast since June I will need the time to catch up (my wallet needs time to recover from all the merch drops lol). So in summary I’m sad, I’ll miss them, and I am so incredibly proud of the example they are setting to others to take up responsibility.

If no one was exempt from military service then it would be easier to accept but people DO get exemptions. Apparently anyone who brings esteem to the country, so gold medal athletes, classical artists. And they don't exempt the group who has done more for the country than any other? Rich kids and government workers also find a way to get exemption, funny that. BTS has never said they wanted en exemption so it was a power move by them to announce they are all going. I mean this happens to all idol groups and, although they may have not done all the high level things BTS has, they are also their friends and peers. Other countries wouldn't have cared if they didn't serve but in SK I think this would have impacted them for the rest of their lives. We just need people like you to keep reacting and keeping BTS alive for us, and also looking forward to all their solo projects coming up. BTS and RM with Pharell may be coming soon!💜

50 years ago S Korea was considered a 3rd world country after the Korean War. Just last week NK fired missles at the SK/US practice maneuvers. Yes, SK needs an active military, any country bordering a hostile entity needs one. Do I like it? Of course not but that isn't going to stop hostilities and wars. BTS have always said that they would serve when called. So yeah, it's uncomfortable but necessary. Have a great week!

Hi Toney I just discovered your channel and have been binging your BTS reactions today 😂 please try out the "Run BTS" variety show which is their own weekly show where the boys play a lot of quiz games and try different challenges. The show was on pause for 10 months after 155 episodes, and just made a come back a few weeks months ago! They are amazing on stage but I think j you would really enjoy getting to know them as just 7 guys. I can't wait to laugh and have fun with you watching Run BTS if you ever decide to give it a try! You can easily find episodes for free with eng subs on RU-vid!

I prefer this version to the Steve Aoki Remix but then I love a live band. I love the heavy beat and bass from the band. I prefer live bands but I'm biased as I've played and sung in live bands since I was 15. The whole Busan Concern was brilliant, I live streamed it and then I saw it at the cinema mmmm I sort of sung my lungs out and ended up horse due to shouting RM's rap lines oops

you are right, they are amazing performers, live shows are a treat. I love Run BTS, it is an amazing song. Truly, I think that BTS members are patriotic and decided to serve their country. And it is their decision. I feel very strongly that the falling manpower numbers should be addressed by adding women to the conscription rolls. If the population of youth is falling so quickly women must be able to depend their homes, and their country. And I know women can do a good job. It is ridiculous to think they cannot. As to how I feel about it...I think it is very much an unfair situation. The same criteria used to exempt other artists and athletes, etc...well BTS has clearly reached that threshold and they've been called on for diplomatic duties, even held this concert at no expense to the government, but clearly for the benefit of the city of Busan and SK as a whole. Have they promoted Hallyu above and beyond many of the exempted people? Yes they have. I could write about ten pages on my assessment of the military issue but I will stop here. On another topic peripheral to the break...well they are tired and need a break, so I hope they aren't roped into doing concerts and serving...doing two jobs instead of one. The government has slyly put out the idea that BTS can perform in concerts for the national interest, which means they will be holding concerts without being paid for them, solely for the benefit of the government and the public interest.

As South Korean's they see it as their duty to serve their country especially when their neighbour is North Korea. It's national pride.

Toney, their country is still technically at war with North Korea as only a peace treaty was signed officially in the 1960s. Every healthy male citizen has to enlist in the military or if the military agrees then to a civil service like the police for 18 months. It is a madatory enlistment with the exemptions given to males in the classical arts and national teams like the football team. They (BTS) have always said they were going to enlist. It is just a matter that I hope the military will keep them safe. It is not easy for celebrites in there. It is extremely dangerous and wears on their mental well being with all the leaks and pressure. The last idol case that we know of being Taemin of SHINee. That was horribe and they had to move him to work in civil service to commute from home. The USA stopped the draft system, mandatory enlistment, I think after the Vietnam War.

This was such a great concert. Watching this the day after jin enlist is so bittersweet, I’m trying to stay neutral on the whole enlisting thing cuz it’s just something they have to go through. RM said he’s ready to go through the life he has to live through so I’m trying to follow his lead and just wish them good health. Tho good on them for not letting the government keep dangling exemption and basically stringing them along.

Well it all depends on how you look at it.... the options are serve the military or serve prison time (there are some alternatives for special cases and some religious groups as determined by the governement) so I don't know if you would consider that "forced".

Thanks for appreciating them, for seeing what J.M does, and for being sad that this video ended. Not that I want you to be sad but you know what I mean. About their military service, they were being played by politicians. So a few months ago without telling ARMY, they made the decision to do their service. I think if the pandemic had not happened, and they had been able to do their Map of the Soul 7 World Tour, which was already sold out when lockdown started, that that would have been their end of chapter 1 and they would have done their service then. ON Kinetic Manifesto and We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal were things that they meant to perform for ARMY on that tour. ON KM is a skills flex, and WAB:TE is a love letter with an implicit promise to return. But the pandemic did happen, and they reorganized their focus, and decided to try to take the American music industry head on, and they blew up so big that their President started talking about giving them a special accommodation so they would not have to serve. He did all kinds of things, including recognizing them as special presidential envoys. They spoke and performed at the U.N. General Assembly. President Biden invited them to the White House to get their support for fighting Asian hate crimes. Despite these very noticeable high-level political bits of support, when a new president came in to South Korea a few months ago, he signaled that he was not going to accommodate their military service. But he also tried to signal that if they gave and gave and gave, he might give in. So he was basically trying to use them. They did this big Busan festival thing, they were supposed to get local support and funds, which they did not. So HYBE put the money in to make that happen. It was right about the time that they started planning for the Busan festival that the BTS members and HYBE made the decision that they would serve. That's when they started getting set up for their end of chapter 1 start of chapter 2 solo stuff. As it turned out, Busan local politicians also tried to use HYBE and BTS multiple ways, including trying to make money off them, but also by hurting their reputation. The original Busan venue was an unsafe one, lacking infrastructure and easy access for the expected 100,000 people. HYBE changed it. And the event was safe, and everybody did end up making money over the course of the week. There was a drone show after the concert. You should look for a video of that, it's awesome. So their serving is their way of doing their usual thing of using wit and charm and hidden messages to tell their haters where to get off. And they are showing that they are honorable and serious about being citizens of their country. They cannot be faulted. From my point of view, these guys are like seven angels. They are very human, they make lots of small mistakes, but their hearts are always in the right place. It's almost as if they came to teach the rest of us how to do it the right way, and that contrary to popular opinion, if you do it the right way, you will not be hurt for it, you'll get lots of love. In the MMA 2019 show, the interlude right before Dionysus is the Christmas hymn O Come O Come Emmanuel. It makes me shiver every time. Link that up with the many references to wings in their work, and then check the MV for Jin's new solo single Astronaut. Somehow these guys are the universe's gifts to our sorry times. Update - This is the last verse in the hymn O Come O Come Emmanuel: O come, O King of nations, bind in one the hearts of all mankind. So, North Korea and South Korea are still formally at war, they have some sort of amistad but I don't know exact details. North Korea border is only about 15 miles from Seoul!! So all the males in their families have served. It's not just mandatory, but it's about helping protect their border and being proud to serve their country. Who knows what positions they end up serving. I know other famous actors, etc, get public service positions sometimes. I can't imagine they would put him in any kind of position where the public Army fans would be able to find him, lol.

BTS gives 4.5 billions+ to S. Korea each yr alone and the gov't refused to give them a exemption from the military but South Korea will miss that money for 2yrs. They don't want to admit that 1 k-pop group is holding the economy together. But give Olympic players, opera singers, Soccer players, rich kids, Instrument players, etc a exemption. BTS has been waiting since about April for answer about exemption and Jin will be 30yr old in dec you have to be enlisted by 30, so BTS said they all will go in at different times but be finish by 2025. Gov't said people that Represent the South Korea and make them look good. But these people give nothing to the economy and bring no money into the country like BTS. They never had so many people visiting South Korea until BTS. But it is mandatory military service for the men in South Korea for 18mos-2yrs.

I respect their decision on the military and selfishly am disappointed but get it. The only thing I cannot help saying is post-military Idols never seem to be the same. While I am not saying BTS will become a bunch of Elvises, losing their cutting edge, refreshing spirit, and wind up doing cinematic roles in B rate movies. What I am saying is few Idols pick up where they left off. They are forced to experience life without youthful exuberance and freedom. I am not sure what kind of outcome to expect with BTS but it is likely members may emerge with different outlooks.
