I love how you actually gave BTS a chance and looked into their other music. Cuz a lot of people just listen to one song and call them trash. You seem really chill and genuine :)

This actually has a much deeper meaning than people realize when they first listen to it. To make a long story short, when they say "bring the pain", they're actually saying bring on the pain of facing and accepting their shadows. The shadow of an individual represents the aspects of their personality that they tend to repress. Given that your shadow is part of you whether you like it or not, it's important to accept it because it'll only make you a better person in the end.

This was probably one of my most favorite reactions I've ever seen. The way you just fully embraced everything and pretty much watched it twice without planning to, not over-expressive or under-expressive, and really latching on to the messages. You got this man's 32yr old A.R.M.Y sub here.

I love it that you’re taking their work in for what it is, and appreciate their artistry without any preconceived notions now, because of the boyband from Asia, k-pop prejudice thing. You’re starting to see what we see, it’s not just a “phase” or following what’s popular right now, or teenage hormones or any of that. Is the appreciation of pure talent and hard work in our part and gratitude and humbleness in theirs. Is their lyricism and performance and the passion they have for what they do. It’s inspiring and if nothing else, it deserves respect for their perseverance and genuine attitude towards the people that helped take them so far; their fans. That’s why we get so defensive when people make mean comments out of ignorance or stubbornness, because it has been the case from the start, that for one reason or another people simply don’t want to give them a chance. And this isn't even the mv. This is "only" the dance version. The mv is like an entire movie of symbolism and storytelling. We tend to recommend this version because it showcases their amazing moves.

Little did they know that shortly after singing "bring the pain on", they were going to be dealing with a whole new level of pain with the pandemic. But they fought that, too and brought army with them. They are amazing. It always brings a smile to my face to see people falling down the rabbit hole. Our boys are worth it. And you got Jimin right, but he was singing with V. Jungkook was the one with the incredible high notes. V and Jungkook were the two that it took me the longest to sort out...so...no worries. You'll get them figured out before too long.

I also recently went down the BTS rabbit hole earlier this year. I’m 48 and fell in love with all of them. I can’t get enough. For me, their music is healing. I started subscribing to you during your earlier reactions to BTS because your reactions emulate what I feel when I watch their videos as well. I love how you try to break down the songs meaning. You’re not afraid to be wrong and welcome feedback from the army. Keep doing what you do. I’ll be on this journey with you, too. Butter is coming! Bring it on!!💜

Don't worry too much about names early on, you'll get there. I couldn't tell them apart for at least the first two weeks except for RM. I started learning their names when I started watching their show, Run BTS, because it shows the different personalities and helps you learn who's name goes with who. They have great messages in their songs and that just one of many reasons I'm a BTS fan. Enjoy your journey!

The woman in the beginning they zoom in on... that is Sienna Lalau... the 19 year old choreographer for this piece. :) One thing to note, the album, Map of the Soul 7, is a concept album. It follows Jungian philosophy of self-acceptance through your Persona, Shadow, and Ego (which are the titles of the Intro, Interlude, and Outro for this album). If you get the chance... I HIGHLY recommend listening to the entire MotS7 album from top to bottom. It's a conceptual masterpiece. :) (and deserved a Grammy

If there was ever a live performance i suggest you check out, the version of On that they did on Jimmy Fallon in Grand Central Station is *exquisite* you really get a sense of how amazing they are as performers - they sing the entire thing live, and knock that tough choreography out of the park at the same time. Plus you get to hear the drum line hyping them up through the tough parts. It's honestly an entire experience.

Oh no worries you'll eventually get the hang of their names sooner. It took me a month to differentiate their voices and identify it with the faces. Not that they are not memorable but I got lost watching their videos because they are mesmerizing to look at and the lyrics are captivating. They admit their crazy schedule and lifestyle they are having as super stars scare them and tire, and almost drive insane, but they are determined to go on, embracing the pain, and will to fight back. On J-Hope part: "breathe on the small things, my air and light in the dark” BTS have a song called “Boy with luv” that describes their love and appreciation for Army. Its original Korean title is “작은 것들을 위한 시” which means “A poem for small things”. So, on that part, J-Hope is talking about Army (“small things”).

I am so unbelievably happy that you said what you said about how army reacts to hate. A lot of people don't understand that when we come together to demand respect it's not just because we're "crazy about them", it's because we genuinely don't believe they deserve it. After what they've been through and how far they've come, all the struggles we've heard they went through, it's hard to watch people tear them down the way they do. Either that or it's bigger than just them. I'm so glad you understand that, not many people do and they automatically assume we're just a bunch of crazy, hormonal fangirls with nothing better to do than whine about our boys.
