his done most of them jokes before, the management joke, joke then dance, and a few others, thats probably y the crowd is so though, most of them have heard it before and thought they where getting something new for there money.
@Terrra91 Dont mean to bring race into it. I find most 'non englishing looking chaps' get a much more hostile reception from crowds than white comedians in the UK. If you look at black/asian comedians they will constantly bring up their race to get a laugh and loosen the crowd up a bit. Stephen K Amos is one guy that stands out in my mind that does that. He is amazingly funny and its a shame he has to do that to warm the narrow minded in the crowd up.Omid gets a Bigger reaction in the U.S i hear
the same jokes. hes gotta watch that or things get stale! he should start talkin about real life stories which can be funny beyond belief! Billy Connolly and Henry Rollins did that !
@chubbylilloser85 It also seems I have been explaining deadpan quite a lot lately, in the UK this style of delivery is usually complimented with a presented stereotyped `affliction` which in itself has no ring of truth at all but it is presented as a matter of fact(irony). Its nothing to do with shedding light on any narrow mindedness. It adds a ironic narrative reason for the fact that what he is saying is funny, but he presents it as if he had no idea he was being funny.
@chubbylilloser85 That's unjust really. The race jokes are not for loosening the audience up, they are opening gags which compliment the main materials delivery, its called perpetuating a stereotype and it gets laughs because racism is old news in UK comedy so presenting it as sincere is simple ironic humour. And a white comedian is likely to bring up regional stereotypes as well. There is no real controversial weight in race jokes in the UK, as there is no premise for them to be true.
@Terrra91 Thats also true yea :( Women comedians (uk at least) will go straight to the "Its hard for a woman because so and so" or "When i take a guy home to fuck i so and so" The female comedians like Joan rivers and lisa lamenelly (bad spellign but shes american) are REALLY funny and do bring up their femininity sometimes but its more in a natural way rather than falling back on it.
errmm.. i've watched omid, and yes he is funny.. BUT.. he always repeats his jokes.. the "please keep the laughter coming and the assylem application" and the joke and song thing.. he litarelly has only ONE act.. it funny.. but not over and over and over and over..
@jordofthejungle2 - He is making a joke of the stereotype that German's have no sense of humour. The part where he imitates a German by saying that "if Iran has 1 comedian and 3 more than Germany, that makes a deficit of 2 in Germany" is making a joke of their rigid order, routine and time-keeping. It was two jokes about stereotypes.
this guy really pisses me off, 90 percent of his jokes are about his country and ethnic background. He ridicules his country and countrymen just to get some laughs and he should be ashamed of himself. its not what i'd call a real sense of humour
This guy is not funny. His jokes don't even make any sense and some are not funny at all. Most of all he recycles, the same old material from time to time. Crowd is not laughing that much for a reason. He stinks!
wat the hell r u guys sayin?im iranian myself...livin in iran is so much fun...but it has its dangers...and that is why we r here...not bc of blonde girls...infact most of the guys i know prefer persian girls(99%)
why is it that europeans always do the 'surfer dude' accent to represent america? after clinton and bush, i'd expect the standard american accent to shift slightly east and south...
I have seen several videos of his, they are all the same, I mean all the same. He uses those jokes over and over again. He needs to work on his jokes, make more material.
this guy has had the same material for 5 years. the audience weren't laughin because they have heard the same jokes 100 times before. needs new jokes, and that hat was horrid
@chubbylilloser85 Sorry for the comment overdose, but it might also be important for you to know that white comedians have often played on the Northern English,Cockney,Scottish,Welsh and so on. Its not that the audience is racist and the jokes are presenting a light hearted view on their prejudice, its the fact that the prejudice is so unfounded and ludicrous its funny. I even felt unnatural writing `white comedians` because it has no relevance over here. I didnt think deadpan is rare in the US?
to be fair a lot of the videoes i've seen are from the same period, so when he's doing things like have i got news for you and a guest slot for jack dee, he was probably promoting his tour, so had a five minute routine and a line up of jokes to show what was on the tour without giving everything away. i'm sure if he went on tour again, the jokes would be different, not for definite, but probably
tough crowd.. and with everbody goin "he uses the same jokes all the time" bands do the same songs at gigs, you dont hear ppl complaining about that, also, hes an actor. stand up is his side thing so maybe he doesnt have as much time to come up with new material GO ETHNIC COMEDY YEA!
I use to think he was amazing and i still like his act. the problem is, is that he only has one act. watch all his video's and you'll see how he uses the same jokes over and over. Unoriginal!
In fairness to the guy, he was doing the Royal Variety Performance. A LOT of his material (or any stand-up comic's) is going to be off-limits. He's pretty much just picking up the best of what's left.
