The VS OMNI Variable Speed Pumps with Smart Pool Control is the easiest way to fully automate your entire equipment pad. I am not just talking about controlling the Variable speed Pump from the OmniLogic App but controlling every piece of equipment from the pool and spa lights, heater, cleaner booster pump, water feature pumps, salt system, spa booster pump, spa air blower and more. The Smart Pool Control can automate everything on your existing equipment pad. The OMNI VS Pump and Smart Pool control is backed by an industry leading 4-year warranty (TriStar 950)!
I suggest getting a Hayward Service Tech to do the installation for you and after these 6 easy steps your equipment will be fully automated and half the cost of purchasing a full complete automated system.
1. Mount Wiring Base Unit and Control Pad.
2. Replace pump. Detach power from the filter pump (or other high-powered equipment) and make wiring connections to the Wiring Base Unit. Run the supplied 6-ft whip from the Wiring Base Unit to the equipment.
3. Replace the existing light switch with Omni Smart Relay or install Smart Relay in line with controlled equipment.
4. Connect control wires from the controlled equipment-including Control Pad, Smart Relay comm cables, VS pump comm cables, sensors, and actuator cables-to the Wiring Base Unit.
5. Pair Wi-Fi® and configure the Control Pad.
6. Download and install the OmniLogic App on your phone or device.
That is it. No big box to install at the equipment area. One thing that you may need is an extra Smart Relay and two Valve Actuators if you want the Smart Control to turn the valves automatically from Pool to Spa Mode. This is the one must have feature for the homeowner - the ability to easily put the system into spa mode, turn on the heater and the spa light with a push of a button. And you can do this with the Smart Pool Control by programming in a Spa Party Theme. Just press the Spa Party button on your Smart Phone from anywhere - at work, on the train on your way home or coming back from a long road trip. The Pump will turn on, the Valve Actuators will turn the valves into spa mode, the heater will turn on to your pre-set temperature and the spa light will turn on. When you arrive home, simply jump in the spa and you are ready to go. It is that easy.
There are 4 different OMNI VS pumps to choose from. The TriStar 950 is the top of the line version with 2.7 total HP and the latest version comes with reversible voltage. This means that you can wire it at 110V or at 220V. This is great if you have an older pool without a standard 220V connection that most Variable Speed Pumps require. Just note that if you do wire it at 110V the total HP of the pump will be throttled down to about half the 2.7 HP that it is rated for. This is the pump that I would recommend for most pools that are medium to large in size and of course for those who are running their pool equipment on 110V. You can also purchase the TriStar 900, Super Pump Vs 700 and the MaxFlo Vs 500 with the Smart Pool Control.
No matter which OMNI VS pump you choose the Smart Pool Control is a real game changer for the industry.
The ability to program in Themes is the best feature of this system. Besides Spa Party you can do a Pool Party Theme, a theme featuring the pool and spa lights, a theme featuring the outdoor deck lights, just about whatever you can think of combining into a single one-touch button you can do with the Smart Pool Control. It also works with Amazon Alexa and there are several voice commands that you can use to activate the equipment and themes with Alexa.

I'm going to be installing at new pool in the Spring. Pools will be 20,000 gallons. equipment I will have is... Hayward heater, Color Logic 12v Lights, Salt Generator. I like the controls with the VS Omni, but don't know what size pump I should get with that. And If I wanted to control the Pump, Heater, and Lights from my phone what all parts do I need to get that does not come with the VS Omni and Pump? Can I hook up the Omni with a standard electric panel or does that require one of the Hayward panels.

Great videos keep up the awesome work! Question will the system actually automate all my pool equipment? 950vs pump Hayward gas heater 3 actuators 1 pool light 1 spa light 1 spa blower ??????????? Or is the system still limited to only so many smart hubs you can add and only so many options you can control? Thank you Happy Holidays.

It should do all that. Each smart relay can handle 3 devices. So you are good. It is a really innovative system for sure.

With the pool we have, there is an omni installed and the spa is set to slightly spillover in pool mode. That means I have water spilling over 10 - 12 hours a day while the pump is running. This is really increasing my Ph. Is there a way to turn this off? I do not want there to be any spillover in pool mode. I would like for all water to go to and from the pool in pool mode. I will then set up a schedule in pool mode to have the water turnover in the spa for 15 - 30 min twice a day. Is there a configuration for this? Is spa spillover 2 to 3 times a day for about 30 min enough?
@SPL
@SPL 4 года назад
That is a good question. You would have to modify the spa bypass to shut that off. I know in the larger systems you can add a spillway program. I haven't tried that with this system yet. I am sure it is possible. Why don't you try adding borates to your pool to bring the borate level to 30-50 ppm. This will help buffer the pH.
@electricalsmokealarmsandmo1564
Do they make a version of this system that is able to be used for a new construction pool and spa combo? Which pump would you recommend for a pool and spa combo with 1 1/2 inch PVC?

Awesome video. Thanks to your video, I purchased the same exact system. I do have a few questions though. I currently have a heat pump (which will be direct wired from the breaker box and just the communication line attached to the hub), the 230v Hayward VS pump (230V power from the hub and comm line back from pump to the hub), 115V Hot tub and pool lights (using one Omni Smart relay), and 230V blower for the hot tub. Do I need to purchase another Omni Smart Relay to run the blower? Also, if I want to separate the pool and spa lights so they operate independently, do I need to have individual relays for each light? From what I understand about my setup with the blower for the hot tub and the pool and spa lights working independently, I would need a total of three relays. One for the pool light, one for the hot tub light, and one for the blower. I also would like to add landscape lighting and party lights to the system so how many relays can be added to this Omnihub system? Last question, I have two Jandy actuator valves with no connector for the hub on the end of the wire. Can the connectors be purchased so I can add them to the end of the wires to leave my current actuators in place? Thanks for the help and really appreciate the video.
@SPL
@SPL 2 года назад
It is 3 devices per relay so you would need more for sure. You should be able to get the parts to connect your current Jandy Valve. I would call Hayward for more specific details on how many relays and were to get the parts you need for the actuators.

@@SPL thanks for your videos they help out alot. I'm looking into an omnihub system for my setup. I'm getting conflicting quotes to have the system installed and what I would need. One place tells me I need smart relays to control the actuators for the valves and hayward has told me that the actuators are controlled by the hub. I'm just trying to avoid paying for items I would not need. I just want a system that I could put my setup in spa mode from my phone.

Is this modular OmniHub setup replacing the traditional Omnilogic big metal box that has all the relays inside of it? In other words is this more for a retrofit application versus a new build?
@SPL
@SPL 5 лет назад
It can be used for both applications. A lot of builders like this because it is less expensive than the big OmniLogic system and can do almost everything the big box automation can. Unless you are controlling multiple heaters and 4-5 pumps the Smart Pool Control is the way to go in a new build. You can't beat the 4 year warranty either. I think all of the manufacturer will be moving to this type of system. The tech is there and in the case of Hayward it uses the same phone app.
@BonnerBB
@BonnerBB 5 лет назад
Thanks. Is it less expensive? By how much... Guesstimate is ok. 20 percent less?
@SPL
@SPL 5 лет назад
Since the Tristar VS 950 and smart pool control is a retail only product prices will vary. Figure $1,400 for the VS Pump and spamer pool control system. The OMniLogic Panel just by itself is $1,800 plus a VS pump for $1,000-,$1,100. So you save about $1,400 with the Smart Pool Control and VS pump combo easily. Not including the install and set up of the OmniLogic.

Hi, I had a stroke I'm in electrician and I've done some pool stuff but this is probably a little more technical when I start to add accessories. The problem is I lost my job and I can't afford to pay somebody to do this. I'm installing the Omni VS950 with a smart relay. I want to know if I can have the Smart Relay set to switch on only when the pump is on or at least set times to match the times on the pool pump comes on. What the Installation manual says is, "Would you like to add a pump driven accessory? Select whether or not you would like to configure a pump driven accessory. NOTE: this option only appears if more than one variable speed pump is discovered. So does this mean that I cannot add a pump driven accessory unless I have a second pump? I certainly don't mind setting my accessory to be a pump when it is not. But I'm not sure I understand the significance of it needing to have a second variable speed pump. Am I able to just set the smart relay to come on at the same time the pump comes on regardless of what the accessory is, maybe I only want the accessory to work at the same time with the pump. Not sure if I'm understanding this right but could I just tell it that the accessory is a two-speed pump and therefore set this smart relay to come on at the same time as the primary pump. It doesn't really know what's on the other end I can't imagine unless it wants an Omni pump with rs485. Otherwise, is it just asking for the parameters so that it thinks it's controlling a pump for some reason, or will it want an RS485 to this accessory I am calling a pump thats a non-existent second VSP, or will the relay just turn on because I told it it was a pump. So I'm trying to understand can I do this without a second pump and just have the accessory come on with the smart relay whenever the pump is on or do I have to try to trick it in some way? The instructions ask about pool accessories how many and then I can turn on a pump when the accessory is scheduled to run. So in theory I think I could tell it I have an accessory and I wanted to run and then program the same times as the pump I guess? But maybe I can just make the relay come on without all that mumbo-jumbo with the pump. Thanks for the video btw, Doug

@@SPL they said to set up interlock, the filter pump as #1 and supposedly the HUA for the Smart Relay will show and I can select that to be linked. It took talking to three people before I got somebody named Scott that knew what they were talking about, and a couple times the system hung up, and a couple of times it was voicemail. So I'm finishing the installation and then I'll try to do the setup and hopefully it will work. But supposedly you can run a single speed pump to come on with the filter pump through this interlock config.

Ive been a business owner in the pool service industry for 6 years and in the industry in general for 15. Such a ridiculous concept for the pool care provider. Let’s say every customer has this system (which I personally do around 15-17 pools per day 5 days a week). So.... I need to log into an app, punch in a password to access their system to turn it on and off? How dumb can Hayward be to not have an outdoor pause button, clean mode button and a start button? Nevertheless, Hayward over priced crap. They engineer their products poorly so you’re having to replace major components rather than making 3 parts out of their one part you have to replace the expensive one part rather than them fabricating that part into 3. Always go with pentair.

If it’s scheduled to be on, he can turn it off, but not if it’s scheduled to be off. He has to have access to my account. That’s too much for someone working so many pools in a day.
