There is simply no excuse. This should be available for a worldwide release on iOS. It’s been years overdue. Also, should be compatible with the G7 for the start. The G6 is old tech & the G7 is what the Omnipod 5 needs to support.
After years of anticipation, now that it'll probably be released by end of year, I'm not even excited about it anymore. It's almost literally just the same as using the PDM (aside from the food feature, which I don't see myself using much). And it won't be compatible with G7. Probably will still have to wait another year + for that compatibility. I feel like they intentionally don't answer questions regarding its release date as they know the general public won't be pleased with their answer and they don't want the public's reaction to reflect the company in a negative way. People are already very displeased with how they've handled this app development and how insanely and absurdly long it has taken. My guess is that the G7 compatibility has yet to be submitted to FDA, then we have to wait months for that, then again go through another round of LMR testing. Yeah, it'll be a long while still. At least that's my thoughts. I do hope I'm wrong I am wrong though and happens sooner rather than later.
Yeah, one thing I've learned from the years of waiting for this is to lower my expectations and avoid getting my hopes up too high. Unfortunately, these things take a lotttttttttttttt of time. At this point, I'm just grateful for where we're at in the world of diabetes, but I can totally relate with the frustration of how long these things take.
Im only excited for it still because I misplace and break my pdm too often, it’s also very slow and loses battery really fucking fast, this will be a very big upgrade for me

On the PDM the status delivery meter basically makes it so that you have to wait for the full delivery before you can do anything else. It looked like the status delivery bar on the iPhone app doesn't interfere with the other functions of the app. Hope I'm right. Also... I have been living exclusively in manual mode with good results, so I assume that I'll be able to do the same on the new iPhone app and continue using my G7 CGM. It will be nice not to have to carry around that damn PDM AND my iPhone.
🧡 😊 I think Omnipod should put more icons and emojis and make it more friendly to users to understand and see the screen clearly and better visibility.

Love the video and the information learned here. Rant I feel like Insulet should have had the app released at the beginning of the year. Not supporting G7 at launch is another kick in the teeth. Now I have to decide between moving to the iOS app whenever that's actually released or migrating to the G7 which will save me money. Also doesn't help that we're supposed to get an update to their PDM in 10ish days that adds support for G7 so it's a step back in technology either way. I work in tech and get product launch delays but this is nuts.
I have one more G6 then I'm upgrading to the G7 for various reasons. I loop with BC Diabetes so I do see a lot of similarities in what I already have with my looping although they're not fully integrated my G6 and Omnipod Dash is pretty close! Hoping that will continue with the G7. Thanks - always helpful vids.
Thank you for the preview! I just expected the iPhone app to look exactly like the controller app. It looks like they made some great improvements like the better graph. I always hated having to go back and forth from my Dexcom app on my iPhone to my Omnipod controller to make bolus decisions. I’m super excited to not have to carry two devices anymore! Can’t wait!
I love that the history button is now conveniently at the bottom of the main screen. I constantly reference the History Detail screen of the PDM app, but it's very annoying to navigate to. I doubt I'll ever use the saved foods feature. It seems very gimmicky to me. I'm sure it was an easy feature to add to the app, and I'm sure it'll be useful for some people, but I prefer to just guesstimate a carb number and be done with it.
Question for you Justin, can you ask them for a timeline on launching this for the G7 or do you have an idea? Or are we all going to rush back to the G6 and find out it's going to be 3 months. Omnipod has not been very good at communicating their intentions.
I bet it's going to depend on how smooth the rollout goes for the G7 with PDM crowd. If their customer service gets overwhelmed by people who screw up that changeover, then that will slow down the release of the iOS app with G7 support. I have little to no doubt that the iOS app with G7 is already built. They just need to make sure that the release of it doesn't result in mayhem.
I wonder why when entering info to deliver a bolus dose they didn’t fill the sensor value in by default? That would be more helpful. One less button to push. You could then change the value if you wanted to or enter a finger stick value if cgm was unavailable. This is part of the reason I didn’t stick with Omnipod 5 in the beginning. Soooo many button pushes to switch modes and confirm choices. The software is bulky. That and the fact that it didn’t work with my iPhone or G7. More bulk to carry around (a PDM ) and not being able to take advantage of the newer G7 technology. Plus I felt their algorithm just wasn’t a good fit for me. It let my glucose level ride higher than I wanted. So, overall, it’s now 16 months later and they’re excited to release an iOS app (but no date mentioned) and still no G7 integration. IMO, their software developers are either woefully understaffed or lack leadership and knowledge.

Just wondering if the app is accessible with VoiceOver? If you would like to test it out for us, that would be really cool. I currently use an insulin pump, but I’m completely blind. I need to pick a new one next year. I know the display app is completely accessible
Do we know anything about the alarms?? What happens when you have an urgent low, does the Dexcom app, omnipod app and the pod itself all make a loud noise? Any improvement in alarm fatigue?? Please.

It is a damn shame that we are still waiting to have an app on our iphone to use instead of the Chinese junk reader that we are stuck with. Insulet has so disappointed me with the extreme delay in getting omnipod 5 on IOS.
They knew the G7 was coming out; they knew that the G7 has been released for a long time now. And still it's not compatible with the G7. In fact, they launch a product without iPhone compatibility and still haven't released it. Tells me a lot about the company and how they don't embrace emerging technologies. I'm lost. I see nothing but a piece of crap system and a terrible tech company.

That‘s very one sided. Don‘t want to defend inulet, but approving medical devices takes some times (rightfully so). That‘s not just a phone app as malfunctions could have consequences for the users.
@@matthiasra1806agreed, I dislike insulet because their service in my experience was pretty bad, but getting medical approval for devices is very difficult. Here in AU we are still don’t even have the monopod 5 or dexcom g7 because of how long and laborious the approval process is
@@matthiasra1806 Exactly. Insulet is a teeny tiny company compared to Tandem and Medtronic. Jumping through all the hoops required by the FDA and Apple to make sure this app is stable enough not to crash and secure enough not to get hacked by terrorists who bolus us all to death in our sleep. I really want the app as soon as possible, but I get how this isn't straightforward and i'm happy to be patient. It's really not the hard to carry two phones in your pocket.
