T slim is the best because you don’t need finger sticks to stay in control iq. It also recalculates every seven days based on the past week of data.

I've been on the Medtronic 780G for the past 2 years and it is pretty good when it is working. The 780G has greatly improved my glucose levels and improved my health. It is by far the best when functioning. However the 780G pump has needed to be replaced 4 times in the past 2 years as it keeps having a Critical Pump Error 35 that makes the pump entirely useless and unusable. I'm on the 4th replacement as I have had this error 3 times. It has caused me a lot of difficulties and has put my health and family at risk. I do not recommend the Medtronic 780G for physically active users and people with independent movements as it can not be dependable where you are away from immediate access to alternatives in case the pump has an error that makes it nonfunctional. I am greatly disappointed in Medtronic's 780G hardware quality as it is crap and keeps breaking. When it works it is good, you just can't depend on it to continue working. It needs to be more dependable. I would highly recommend that it not be used for children, teens, physically active college aged individuals or physically active adults. It can not be trusted to function and does not have any longevity of dependability. When working it is better than the other pumps and I would recommend it if it could be counted on to function and if Medtronic addresses their huge problem of pump's becoming inoperable because of Critical Pump Error 35. They also need to build the pump out of more durable hardware so that it is strong enough to hold up to normal daily living as well as those living an active outdoor lifestyle. I'm so disappointed in Medtronic. (Medtronic pump user since 2004).

I have the omnipod 5. I love it. I have the omnipod sytem since 2017. The 5 is has improved compared to previous versions.

I am using the dash for almost a year and I can't say that I agree. The dash is a really good pump. But anyways God bless her for going through all that at 18 moths old. I've had diabetes since I was 7

@@jamespoland3078 The G4 sensor has been surprisingly good in combination with the Minimed 780G. With hardly any calibrations (once a week when starting a new sensor, and special occasions when I’ve been idling low for the maximum amount of time allowed.) It’s very accurate compared to the G3, and my experience suggests that it is very reliable. It’s helped me stay within 85-100% of the recommended values for months now. I’m strictly using carb values for bolus. The basal values is continuously adjusted by the pump, and on a daily basis this is also very accurate. If you accidentally forget to set a bolus for a small meal, the insulin pump with the G4 will take action and auto adjust. Though it can push you slightly low, due to the delayed time of injection of insulin. (Autocorrects when your glucose values rises.) The only thing I would like to see is an option for a combined bolus for larger/slow meals like pizza and lasagna. Hands down, the G4 combo has been a lifesaver for me.

Epic roads Are you saying you have 780g pump by Medtronic and your using the G4 Sensor with it? Didn’t know you could do this. Can you possibly give me update on how your doing with it now because I’m trying to make decisions which route to take on this! Much appreciated! Marie

I'm in the same boat, have only ever known medtronic but think I am switching to tandem because it works with dexcom which I love. What are you thinking of switching to?

Medtronic is the worst company

My son who is type 1 has always been on the Medtronic pumps. He is on the newest now. The biggest problem he has is the infusion sets . Seems its when he is very active. The needle inside of him gets bent and no insulin is received then he's in DKA. 4 times to the ICU this last year, all due to the bent needle inside him. Medtronic says the pump cant alarm you that its not giving insulin. Only if the tube bends on the outside do you get an alarm. Has anyone else seen this with Medtronics infusion sets? He wants to try maybe a different brand of pump but not sure if the Omnipod5 or T:Slim x2 also have issues similar. His doctor says he has another patient that has the issue. They are both real skinny and no fat to keep the needle in place while active. Anyone heard of this before? Thanks

The Tandem Tslim pump has an infusion set called “Trusteel”. It’s a very small steel needle about the size of a lancet needle instead of the plastic cannula so it eliminates crimped and bent cannulas. You stated he is thin though so it may not be the most comfortable option. Definitely something to ask his endo about though.

Thank you so much! I hope things will change sometime in the future for you and these pumps will become more affordable. With that being said, I don't personally use a pump, just like you, I use injections and my Libre and still achieve very good control.

Move to a state with low income Medicaid, sign up and it's all free.

The uk and Ireland all diabetic care is free to everyone including any pump and training.

My son is on Medtronics and wont wear the sensor because he says its way off on his real number. For example in middle of night it says his blood sugar is in the 60's and he gets up and does a finger prick and it says 100. The doctor just gave him a Dexcom G6 to try but it cannot send to the Medtronics pump; he is doing that manually. Any experiences that can be shared ?

@@mycookie2570 I am so sorry this is happening to your son. I had a nightmarish experience with the Medtronic sensor, would call tech support who would diagnose no problem, but still getting wildly disparate readings. I finally discovered a barely visible hairline fracture in the transmitter. I sent a photo to the Medtronic RN district manager. It was then Medtronic replaced it. I’ve read if you complain long enough, they will replace the transmitter. Since I started using Dexcom, I put the Medtronic pump warranty on a countdown clock. It’s hard enough choosing a pump and then you’re committed for 4 years. I see now Medtronic is offering a 30 day free trial with their new CGM. There just isn’t any interoperability between Medtronic and Dexcom unfortunately. Dexcom does have the Clarity app I downloaded from the App Store that I find easier to use than Medtronic’s Carelink. It has plenty of information, especially useful to me is time in range. I suggest consider the Dexcom Clarity app to track and trend data in the absence of a pump with communicates with Dexcom. I also learned that Tandem cannot get the ball rolling to get me their t:slim pump until the Medtronic pump is out of warranty and not a moment sooner. Good luck and I hope the current pump warranty is not too long.

That’s a very good point and I hope this is something they change in the future with an update as I’m sure you’re not the only one who experiences this issue.

More corrections are a very requested feature though and they can add it with update so interested to see if they will. The more the pump learns from you though the more the need for extra bolusing decreases so remains to be seen. 🤔

I used to use skin tac. I've found a much better way to keep sensors attached. It's made by uno medical and is called "fabric roll stretch" it's a gauze style tape that is breathable and works awesome, tape over sensors and they stay stuck. A key is to cut the tape so that there's no square edges to start to peel from . ( I cut 2 oval shaped pieces and use them to stick it ) and to attach 9ne side and then pulpit a bit to stretch it across and secur the other. I've been using this method for over 10 years now,to keep cgm stuck to me. Hope this helps.

I think the tslim would be the best bet. Larger screen and it’s touchscreen which makes it a bit easier to use.

Bij 670g heb ik moeite met elke verandering vanwege het trage alogirtme. Ik wil daarom misschien tslim proberen. Ik vind het zo spannend allemaal :) wat heb jij uiteindelijk gekozen?

While the Omnipod 5 is an advancement over the #4 ,personally I am more interested in what an Omnipod 6 would have to offer. I couldn't get past 4 days on Medtronic's enlite 3 sensor without sensor updating problems, and eventually gave them up and just have used the 670g pump manually. I have been using the Dexcom G6 for over a year and even though I still have Cgm readings about 45 min behind my blood sugar at times, but has worked very well for me compared to Medtronic's enlite 3. I think the Omnipod is a great alternative if you have a current pump that just quit working out of warranty, or I if you want a pump and are holding out for a different pump likely to hit the U.S. market within the next two years.

It all depends on what you’re looking for. No wires, then definitely the Omnipod. Medtronic seems to be the best fit for someone looking for the lowest glucose target which is very important to a lot of people. And Tslim is a long standing favorite with a lot of great features. Often if really comes down to which your insurance will cover. You can’t go wrong with any one of these though.

I think the eversense is a great CGM. As far as pump compatibility, that is a good question. I see no reason why the two wouldn't be compatible. Might just be an FDA approval related problem.

I have Eversense I love it. So many capabilities. I look forward to the future of Eversense. It can predict when I go high or low thirty minutes before hand.

And you can’t adjust your personalized goal range. Booo.

Unfortunately not, "microbolus" is just a fancy way of saying basal, but it does not give a true autocorrect "bolus", which is a larger volume of insulin that only the T-Slim and Medtronic are capable of at this time.

Unfortunately not. Most pumps are not very aggressive with their target settings. The Medtronic actually as of this time has the lowest possible target at 100. I think in the future they will allow lower targets as the software improves.

I haven't found any study's like that yet but I'm going to take a better look to see if I can find anything and I'll let you know.

2xs a day I have been using 770g for almost 2yrs, I have had Medtronic pumps for 18yrs(new model every 4yrs). Current Auto mode on 770g is dumb, have to turn off to manually bolus, so I use manual mode with auto suspend for low. My A1C is currently a 6.3, it's a lot of work. Am waiting for updated software for 770g to turn into 780g for closed loop tech. Now am actively looking at omnipod5 and dexcom6. I need a bigger reservoir 300 units, omnipods only hold 200 units

Love your post! I’ve been on Medtronic pump for almost 20 yrs. I currently have 630G it was replaced for another one I had but returned it due to the recall plastic ring on top. This one however has given me nothing but problems, been to hospital because of it. My warranty is up in Feb next year and planning to get the 770. Do you have any experience with this model I would love to know? I certainly would love some feedback from you if you can! Much appreciated Marie

@@mariesmith8076 we upgraded to the 760, my understanding is the 770 is just a software upgrade. We haven’t had any issues with the pump itself. Our issues were solely with the CGM system. We couldn’t get it to stay connected to our daughters phone, it originally for the first couple yrs was only available on iPhone & we were Samsung. Even when my daughter and myself switched to iPhone, we still had connection issues. She also had issues with them staying attached to the skin.

Trying the Dexcom6 about the last week to see if it works good, then possible switch off Medtronic's to a different pump. Just have to check if the other pumps have issues with infusion sets bending inside and causing DKA

@@mycookie2570 I’ve never had a problem with Medtronic Sensors and I’ve been using them about 15 yrs now. I used Dexcom a few times when I had to wait to receive my Medtronic order. I found them to not be as accurate as Medtronic. I’m sorry to hear that you had issues with them with your son! Hopefully you will have luck with the Dexcom!

Dexcom is way WAY ahead of all others for cgm, and t slim is a far superior pump ( currently on a 780g but waiting for t slim to arrive )

My sensors are lasting exactly 7 days. (Unless you are saying the accuracy is poor on those final days.) I had a lot of failures when I first started using them since I found them hard to insert/set up but I’ve gotten past that.

@@Kimbaface around day 4 and 5 they want to be calibrated every 6 hours. It gets very old when I keep getting woke up to recalibrate

@@JMyoutube1 As long as I am in automode, it sticks with every 12 hours. But I have been frustrated with my A1Cs and am trying to just do it on my own for awhile. And now it is asking me to calibrate every 6 hours (it gets changed today). And I agree. That's not a workable system.

Try putting the sensor towards the ground or at 6 o'clock position and transmitter up or 12 o'clock. For some reason that works. Have got one to last 3 weeks but definitely don't recommend. Was just testing them out. The newest model, not the 4, but they have one coming that is going to be great, awesome when they make the sensitivity a little better.

That sounds like its most likely the Omnipod 5. Thats really the only brand new pump out right now.

No problem! I’m sure your doctor means well, but I would definitely go with whichever one you feel is best for you, you’re the one that has to wear it all day. You really can’t go wrong with any one of these pumps though, they’re all great.

I got diagnosed type 1 at 39 and the financial pressure of this stuff is overwhelming... I can't imagine what parents of t1 kids have to deal with.

If it’s between the Omnipod Dash and the Tslim then definitely the Tslim as it has an automated insulin delivery system which the dash does not have. If the Omnipod 5 is an option then it’s a bit harder of a choice as it also has an automated delivery system.

Same here in the US unfortunately.

I use the back of a chair to help hold my arm in place during solo sensor insertion! Might be worth a try. It's awkward but it gets the job done.

Surprisingly I don’t use a pump and use multiple daily injections. Mostly due to cost issues with insurance but I hope to eventually get on a pump.

FYI you can request a replacement sensor online. I do that most of the time. The only downfall is you can only do 3 in 90 days, so after that I have to call. But thats rare because mine for the most part last 7 days. And you dont have to have the LOT# even though it asks for it.

I hear ya.. I hate my 780.. its so unbelieveablly annoying. Beeps even though it's set to vibrate only mode, then when you silence it it goes off agai after less than 3 minx.. over and over again. Have not slept in the same room as my wife for over a year as it wakes us both up all night for zero reason. Asks for calibration at the worst possiblle times. Breaks very easily, constant blocked lines notifications even though they are not ( weak motor ) . I will be gleeful with joy when my t slim arrives as I'm smashing the 780 with a hammer.. I hate it. Forgot to mention that sometimes the sensor Is Off by a LOT. Last night it said I was 2.8 mmol , when I tested my blood ( did not feel low ) I was at 8.8mmol, when I entered this as a calibration it tripped out, half hour lacerated for new calibration.. then said "Caoibration not accepted " Then failed after only 1 day of sensor. The happens at least once per box of sensors, it's hot garbage

If you click on the settings wheel at the bottom of the video you can set it to go at a slower speed like .75. I do speak fast sorry 😂.
