Hi, I have to say that I loved the previous model On Peaks. What I didn't like was the lugs ripping off. I found that I could be very nimble in them. They felt light going up long steep technical terrain. As you mentioned they are like a track shoe. So when on the flat and windy trails you can really push it. On the downhills I run on my toes and the narrow heals work perfectly. As for the laces. If you do runners loops. That is using the extra eyelets, the laces are the perfect length. Doing the runners loops gives them a very snug feeling. Thanks for the video. Love the trail you were testing them on. Very similar to what I run on in Tropical Far North Queensland ( Australia )

Thanks for this review. I was very curious to hear about this new model. I will stick to my Salomon SLAB Pulsar SG. Lighter with more midsole and most likely more energy return!

Awesome reviews, I'll try not to run ON with too many platitudes. I like what I am seeing with the new peak 3, main complaints with the on clouds is trail running and picking up those peebles into the grip. These look less likely to suffer from this. I do have the 2021 version cloudventure peak, and tends to fit a bit too snug. I have been running on Altra Superior 5 - love just doing trail walks with these, but when running zig zag around obstacles at a quick speed, toe box is a bit too wide and don't have that locked in feel. Wondering if you have had a chance to compare toe box between these new Ons compared to previous peak versions? Already a like the wider laces here compared to the thinner ones I have.

Thank you! Yes I’ve run in every version on the Cloudventure Peak and the toe box feels consistent across them all. The laces are also just as slim in V3 as they were in V2 and unfortunately still way too long.

@@trailandkale Thanks for the update. Just wondering, since I am sure I have version 1 - the laces are round, not flat and have 4 eyelets compared to this version 5. I find long wearing cause more discomfort over dorsum of foot, so flat laces and 5 eyelets I think will be more comfortable. There is a unique lacing method for ons using that far back hole that locks in shoe more on the foot and does use up some more of the laces, but still, as you mentioned still is too long. I am just debating on if I will upgrade to this new version since your review is encouraging me. I love zero drop and at 4m drop still reasonable for me. Thanks again.

@@rhonalddelmar7885 The newest Cloudventure Peak is at Version 3 (not 5), and the laces are the same as v2 and I think V1 also - i reviewed them many years ago so I don't remember 100%. You don't generally need the last eye hole in On running shoes in my opinion as the heel lock is already pretty good. The lace length is still too long, even if you were to use the extra eye hole. If you enjoy the minimal feel go for it but there are better trail running shoes out there.

I have the cloudventure peak 2 and to me this seems like a backwards step , the lugs aren't as deep and the upper looks less hard wearing 400+ miles in the 2s

In general v2 is a better shoe in my opinion BUT, the outsole is in some ways better on the v3 due to the fact those huge cloud pod lugs have now gone, but the new outsole is far from perfect as alluded to in my review.

Are these good for an everyday shoe? I mostly walk trails, go to the gym, and walk asphalt as well. I then wear the shoes out to the store or dinner. They look nice. Usually I wear some New Balance 4 series trail shoes.

Oh no, I don’t think you’d enjoy these for every day wear.. they’re super minimal with not a lot of stability..

@@trailandkale Oh darn, I bought them a while back and never wore them, I'm not even sure if they will take the return now at the ON website. If you had to reccomend a shoe for that that doesn't look crazy funky, any ideas?

all my reviews share weight based on US(M)9 to provide consistency in data across running shoes, as brands tend to share weights for different sized shoes which is useless when comparing shoes across brands
