I have always wanted to see Iceland. I'm finnish so of course I want to go to Finland. That's my number one place I want to go but Iceland is another one. Thank you! I loved your video. Absolutely love it

I didn't want to mess it up by going back in and commenting. This is Shannon from Whidbey island. I commented said that I would love to host you if you came back here sometime if if you were so inclined but look at the number of views that was my view 777 it's a sign I'm really fascinated with with you and your your narrative and your your photography. The whidbey island one was the first one I saw. So now I'm watching Iceland and so it's nice to see a different mood anyway, I just sat and stared at that 777. I thought I'll have to comment to you. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos. I really do. I love your music. I love your style really, really, really soothing

Have started watching your videos, and OMG, I don't think there is another channel like this. Great videos, beautiful photos - and for me a fantastic narrative. I look forward to the next video. I guess you seem to love both wine and cats, so whats not to like 10/10👍

Another thing I really appreciate is how open you are with your thoughts/feelings about life, and time and how fast it goes. Are son (one child) is going to university this august and I have had a hell of a time coming to terms with that a part of my life that is forever over. It's been though, but I have started to accept and even feeling proud of the fact that he is grown up and wanting to find his own path. Still, not an easy thing for a parent. Keep up the good work Travis 👊@@traviscobb121

That’s how this whole thing began for me - a way to sort of memorialize what little time left I’ve got with my son. He graduates high school in two years, and I’m still wrestling with that, I feel you.

I don't often leave a comment, but so glad the algorithm recommended your Colorado video which lead to this suggestion after subscribing (only sub a hand full of channels). Almost thought I was going to see myself in the streets of Reykjavík as we arrived the morning of Aug 2nd and were walking around town that morning after our whale/Puffin boat excursion got cancelled. I have to agree with you on finding it cold, especially with the wind down near the water and I'm live in the interior of British Columbia that is no stranger to temps below freezing over the winter. I did not bring enough layers for conditions. We had done the bus golden circle tour on the 3rd and your footage of Gullfoss appeared to have 1/3 of the crowd than we experienced for the mere 1/2 hour we were given at that stop. We then boarded a cruise ship to get to the north and east side ports. As noted, there is so much to take in and if you're trying to capture images of it all you certainly will miss being there. Your video sure shows the green colours as I remember them. The presentation of your content is fantastic and am rely looking forward to viewing the rest of your content, especially the Whitby Island one as I have not been there since I was a boy in the late 70s, keep up the great content.

That’s insane - I left the states July 31, landed in Reykjavík August 1st, and drove out of Reykjavík august 2nd - ships passing for sure. There’s so much to see and do and I hope I’m fortunate enough to be able to make it back one day while I’m able to. I’m also planning on making a trip back home to Whidbey this summer - I miss the PNW terribly. Appreciate the love, big time. 🤘🏻🍻

You are better at pronounce Icelandic words than most foreigners. Loved your photos. I think your photos look more like the photos us native people in Iceland used to take before the tourist boom. More authentic - less photoshop-y. And no worries, Erica will be fine drinking the water in the river. The water is clean. No infectious diseases. The elf thing and the hidden people believe, is since the old days, so it more that we are just keeping our culture alive still believing in it, than actually still believing it. In my eyes this elf/hidden people believe came about in the old days when every inch of your life and existence was at the mercy of the elements of nature including the weather. It is easier to think there are some hidden humanlike creatures that controls it all. Then you can have conversation and make a contract with them (nature) or at least a compromise.

Thank you very much. I just want my photos to feel like a memory, like what I saw in person in the moment. And I love the idea around the hidden people - this idea that there’s something there that you can’t see, you’ll never see, but it’s there to help and protect you. I only saw half the island and would love to make it back and see so much more - I loved everything about it.

Hello Travis! Great video, fantastic pictures..to the sound of the shutter. I suppose you were holding a Pentax 6x7 or 67..(I'm a Pentax 6x7 user). wondering what lens(s), you were using,, though the Pentax 105 f2.4 might be one of them. What film you were loading? Sorry for so much questions. I hope one day I'll have the chance to visit this beautiful country, and I won't mind eating "horse" meat 😋 😊. Thank you for sharing your memorable moments. I watched all your videos, my thumb up Man.Take care. A viewer from Algiers (Algeria).

Appreciate the love - I actually recorded the camera shutter sounds myself, and it’s legitimately the sound of my Mamiya RZ67ii shutter clapping. I’ve got 3 lenses for my Mamiya, but the one that’s on 99% of the time is my 110mm - I love it, it’s the closest to the 50mm I use on my 35mm equivalent. I’d love to shoot a Pentax 67 and a Hasselblad one day. Much love 🍻🤘🏻
@keithandfrankdotheworld6988
Travis - you might want to reconsider your comment that horse on the menu is "fucking sick." In 2021 in the U.S. we consumed 30 BILLION pounds of cows. And that's just cows. I also eat meat, but I cop to it and don't kid myself that I'm morally superior because of which animals I eat. We also gas 1.5 million shelter dogs and cats every year, and pretend we're better because we incinerate them. Horses in Iceland have great lives - they are among the most free-range animals on the planet. Compare that to the brutal conditions in the beef and pork industries in the U.S. I guess sick is relative. That said, your video was a pleasure to watch. We were in Iceland this summer for a second time, 17 days both times, and we still haven't had enough. Worse than the tripod hordes? Fucking drones. What a blight. Thanks for making such a nice video without one. Peace out.

I appreciate the discourse, absolutely. But I was referring more towards the tartare aspect of it being raw more than anything else. I don’t think I’m morally superior to anyone - apart from people who choose to eat whale meat not out of necessity, and trophy hunters…I am morally superior to trophy hunters. I found it surreal and eye opening to be able to experience another culture that arguably isn’t that far removed from my own. What I found more interesting were the Icelandic people who we spoke with who said they find it tasteless that their culture still promotes it given they don’t consume horse meat or whale meat - both of which were on the menus constantly - they said that the stereotypes still persist because that’s what tourists expect to see when they visit, when the native population tends to find it repugnant. I only saw half the island and hope to someday be fortunate enough to return and see the rest - it’s a real privilege. I’m genuinely appreciate the dialogue - given the challenges we all face, it’s a welcomed conversation for me. 🍻
@keithandfrankdotheworld6988
@@traviscobb121 People in Iceland eat horse. It's not a stereotype, any more than Americans and hamburgers. It's just a fact. The native population does not find it repugnant, although I'm sure some do, certainly the ones you talked to, and lots of Americans are vegetarians. Frankly I wish I was. As for trophy hunters, I'll go ahead and say that I'm VASTLY superior. I'm just an old guy trying to pass on what limited wisdom I have. Thanks for your patience.
