After a lot of thinking, we decided to release the full "Welcome to Iceland" Film for totally free, despite having invested a lot of money and time in the project.
All we ask is that you tell us what you think in the comments and if you liked it, Share and follow us on facebook etc.!!!
Coming from a country where Catch and Release is still officially prohibited, two brothers went to Iceland to find out about the state of conservation in a country where fish and free flowing rivers are still abundant, and they came across interesting people along the way.
A shorter version was featured on the RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival 2016!

I have caught and released several (hundreds) Brown, Brook, Cutthroat, Rainbow, and several species of 'lesser' fish...The "Key' to their survival is how long they are fought,(bring them to Net as quickly as possible), how they are 'handled', (don't keep them out of water until you get your camera ready), and hold them 'gently', they won't bite you...Hold them underwater, with their heads facing upstream, and let them swim away...Catch and Release works !!! If you do it right...

Ooooh my god!!! Well done brothres!! It was amazing, really amazing. I love the miusic in this film. This film remenbered me the situation in Sapin about catch and release, and all things that we will need for getting it. Well done! Oooohhh Dios mil! Buen trabajo hermanos! La peli a sido muy buena. Me gusta la musica de la pelicila. Este video me ha recordado la situacion en España sobre la pesca de captura y suelta, y todo lo que nos queda por recorrer para conseguirlo. Bien hecho!

In Canada we have been doing catch and release since 1973 and it works great, the angler has to be careful when catching, landing and releasing the fish but it is a great way to reduce pressure on certain species while still allowing fishing in that specific lake or stream.

Very interesting, great video! Being from the United States one thing I found very interesting is the lack of catch and release. In the United States catch and release is normal and has been for many years. In fact for those that fly fish close to 100% of any fish caught are released. This has been the case for probably 25+ years and applies all over the country. A trophy fish is landed with a quick picture and quickly released. Iceland is a place i have been many times, though I have never been able to fish the country. It is on my "bucket list" of places to fish, I hope to make it someday. Well done!

Wonderful, inspiring are just some words that come to mind . So good to see the dedication of these men in their personal commitment to the preservation of this precious resource . May it continue for generations to come . I am blessed here in British Columbia Canada to have unlimited access to untold lakes rivers and streams with abundant fish populations. Some of the worlds largest runs of salmon come to the area I live. May it always be so.

What!? read this it details all of the rivers in Europe atlanticsalmonfederation.org/rivernotes/?p=2853 Iceland salmon run health is like a million times better then the U.K. Thats when you taken into account all factors, like iceland has smaller rivers but the run count is insane. Then when you think about how few rods are even fishing its crazy... Iceland has over 200 rivers that get runs,, There's just a much lower population of people and more isolation then the u.k has. We ve long since chopped all the tree's on the island down, Though it was in the name of the navy! and been hard with industry. especially when compare to iceland iceland is one of the top places to salmon fish in the world. They have insane catch rates for anglers but tend to have much smaller fish,, some years 60 000 fish are caught with a low angler count compare to others

You are COMPLETELY right there!!!!!. If you wet your hands before handling the fish, it will not harm the fish. I myself always have a pair of thin gloves that I soak in the water before handling the fish !! The pike is the only fish that can take damage from it as it has a slimly layer that keeps the cold away in arctic waters. But with gloves that are soaked in the water you fish in, it also works well, You never wish a fisherman good luck where I live, we say crapy fish to you. 🙂I have been a fisheries management consultant for 38 years

Lovely film and the message re C&R rings true. I'm from Colorado and C&R is standard practice amongst fly fishermen and the evidence for C&R is abundantly clear - C&R is good for fish and fisheries and with care (barbless hooks, don't overtire the fish, don't pull the fish out of the water for more than a few seconds, especially when they are recovering, allow the fish to recover in the net (and always use a net) before releasing them) the fish will do well and go on to lead happy lives and create more fish. Anyone who says different simply does not understand how to take care of fish. Good on ya for promoting C&R!

Yeah, and at least like 70% of all the British and American rivers are privately owned and are in-accesible. I live in New Zealand where you have always (since introduction) been able to catch large trout in rivers full of emerald clear water covered by dense forest. We get very big trout due to our mouse season, which is when all the beech forests seed and the mice population explodes.

Another video with bad music choices. I'm sorry the music takes away from the grest vision. The use of music should be subliminal, use more natural sounds to draw the viewer into the on screen world you wish to portray. Loud music is like a wall or curtain that stops the viewer geting close to the emotion created by the scenery.

I really enjoyed this film. With so many fishing videos being fast paced and always only focusing on catching lots of big fish or how cool the latest gear is, it's refreshing to find a film about the underlying allure of fishing and the love the anglers have for these creatures that bring us so much joy. It really brought a smile to my face.

Great vid, great place, no trees to get hooked up on :). I agree with catch and release, it's vital to maintain these beautiful fish, but some people like to eat wild fish and we have been doing this for thousands of years, should we deny people the right to catch and keep a trout or salmon? Nothing wrong with killing 2 or 3 small fish a year for the table, large females should always go back in my opinion to spawn and replenish the river, people will kill fish it's a fact of life, With proper management it doesn't destroy a river but must be only 2 or 3 fish per season, the problem is people who fish a river every day and kill fish, they need to be educated or banned from fishing the river permanently. IMO.
