Hi Wessel, the context is what is known here in Australia at the "Stolen Generations". Between the 1910 and 1970 (approx) various government policies resulted in the forced removal of indigenous children from their families. They were forbidden to speak their traditional languages or refer to themselves by the names that they were given by their parents. Most children were placed in institutions where neglect and abuse was common. Aunty Maureen was one of those children. The "black car" is what the government agents drove when they came to take children away.
