You're right about the shellies. They prefer shells. I've done alot of research on shellies because i want a tank of them. Real bad. But I've got limited tank space, so I've had to prioritize. So in all of my research they've always said to make sure there is enough shells to go around. In the many tanks and set ups that I've seen, they're ALWAYS in the shells. If you don't have fry in the tank, then that's probably why. Shellies are almost as prolific as guppies.
I don't know this will help MD. But I bought over $200 API products because I watch your channel. We don't have aquarian in the US. Thank you for all wonderful content you produce.
If you’ve bought API leaf zone it’s not very good and only contains a small amount of potassium, that’s it really. Better to look for something else imo
I like leaf zone as a general fertilizer, it works well to supplement a good substrate system. There are products with higher nutrient content, but they can lead to algae growth too so it’s a balancing act
@@asherelliott2172exactly. Aquarian/API is part of MARS. One of the largest food corps in the world. It will be rebadged if not called Aquarian in the US
@@iwillfindyou3902leaf zone has worked quite well in my tank , the ephiphytes have grown solely because of the leaf zone I use , since I have don't such a good substrate system.
Omg same I bought 260 litre and 3 months later seal went. Bought another 330 litre black sand took forever to rinse still not clear water 😢 dragon stone bog wood put nutribase mixed with gravel I'm first then black sand thick on top was up until 5 this morning filling it with buckets 😂 so today I'll get plants and fish in I'm hoping the fluval internal filter I've been running for 2 weeks with fish in temp tank and the sponge filter also in with them when added to this new tank will stop a full on cycle also the dragon stone and wood is all been in temp tank with the fish so should hold good bacteria to I've quick start but I've added prime. I've got external on this new one but throwing those 2 internals in also purely for the bacteria. Who said this hobby is relaxing? 😂😂
@AllroundJack yeah they can but when you spend thousands on a thing you love and it gets destroyed its a big hit. On the wallet and the mind. so good deal points for you! You sure told me👏👏👌🤣🤣
I've said this many times before but, after seeing this 'tour' I have to say again, you create the most beautiful tanks! And they all seem to take care of themselves. Didn't know about the shell=dweller tank so that was a nice surprise for me. How cool that they rescaped it! You're the ultimate fish man!
How incredible that your wife Kate is able to help where and when she can. Spouses that support the hobby should get recognition. Wonderful tour (not tour) Keep it up! Cheers!
Hey MD, been watching for quite awhile. I just wanted to say this is a great structure for a video. I love seeing the updates and maintenance for these setups I’ve watched you create over the years.
I just watched Matt's video right before, loved seeing you guys filming. Glad you did a together video/clarification, was great seeing you both and your chemistry. Your friendly banter and teasing is great, plus it's nice to hear fish people talking shop. Cheers to you both 😊
I bought a load of API products when I setup my first tank recently because of this channel. I don't have friends with aquariums, so being able to see that it all works well on your videos is huge for me.
Have you considered putting your rainbows in the eight footer? Seeing a horde of those swimming around would look amazing! Also, if any of your kids are interested in fish you should do a video where you let them guide the project- it doesn't have to be a big tank but it would be fun to see what your kids would come up with =)
Superb upload & thorough update on your studio. MD you've come a long way since the fish "shack" days!!! Love that Kate is also involved. Such a fantastic career/business, yes career. Brilliant aquarist & lovely studio!!! Many blessings!!! ❤❤❤
People who speculate about a bust up or similar are likely just projecting their own life drama onto you. Don't pay attention. You do amazing work, and Matt's channel ain't too bad either! ;)
I use API products primarily. I'll pick up some of their root tabs and see if they help my tanks. Never used root tabs before though. Aquarian must be a British thing as I've never encountered it before. I'm in the States. Might try some for my fish in next restock. My wife loves your fish room. No way we will ever go nearly that far though, as she plays with every thing and I have to do all the real maintenance.
Loving the content, I'm just getting back into fish keeping and planted tanks after 7-8 years away. Really enjoying the video's getting me back up to speed 👍
After watching so many videos of your tanks I finally tried my design and I got to say it's a improvement. So keep to good stuff up!!! Love the explanations and the real effort your putting in your tank ❤
Don’t listen to people they’re just miserable and have nothing better to do than to make other people miserable and start rumours!! You have the best fish set up I have ever seen it it’s gorgeous and I know if I was a fish I would love to live in your aquariums you’re beautiful .
I've stocked up my fishy cupboard - all with API thanks to your recommendations. I already used Aquarian foods too :) Glad you have help wi ht the fish room, it's quite a handful, and looks amazing
Can't wait to start my new tank here in the UK! It's the perfect way to relax amid my studies. It's a bit challenging to find fish shops in Newcastle😅, but thanks for all the inspiration, Mr. MD❤
HEY MD! Point some wavemaker power heads like Sicce XStreams at the surface of your tanks. They will keep your tanks oil slick free. It would greatly improve the overall look of your gallery tanks! You need more surface tension breaks. They work better overall than surface skimmers do, and they circulate your water keeping a better quality of water overall I think
Great video MD! Really fun to catch up on all your fishes and I learned so much just by listening to your running commentary on how to keep a tank balanced. Thank you!
Hey MD Love your videos. I would love to see more of a cave setup or something similar. I'm sure everyone would love that as well and maybe this will bring your creativity to a whole other level.
Wow, chunks is stunning. I can’t believe how much he has grown. The blues look so colourful aswell MD. Probably my favourite tank. Also as a side note, I finally did my first order with aquarium gardens on Friday and can’t wait for everything to turn up as I’m completely switching up my tank.
I planted some dwarf sag in one corner of one of my tanks and it took over the whole half. It tried to take over the whole tank but I had to be diligent to keep on top of it! It is definitely a fast grower! It throws runners out like crazy!
Damn. The rainbow fish tank (the triceratops tank!!!) has been my favourite tank of yours. Looking forward to seeing a new home for the rainbows, but I will miss this tank
Would love to hear your thoughts on saltwater tank setup and maintenance, especially because of your common sense approach to keeping aquariums. Great tour thanks
I love watching your videos. Remember God has a plan for you. It will be ok. I am praying for you all. I am a newbie on plants your ecosystems is what I want to learn. I miss my tanks. They were my peace of mind. Had to take them down because I couldn’t keep up with them. After almost four years away. I am starting a 40 gallon tank. Want to do guppies, shrimp, mollies easy eco system. Like your fishbowl. Well keep moving forward you will be fine. God bless you and yours. Thanks for all your teaching. I’m learning and will be taking the leap! 😊
I live relatively nearby so could pop around and do a bit of trimming or cleaning every now and then if you want, provided I was never seen or heard of in any video!
People always say that Java fern grows anywhere in any set up, but I've found that most variants really struggle unless there's good lighting and frequent feeding. It's gone crazy in my high tech set up
I have been watching your videos continuously for the last week and LOVE your aquariums! I'm researching information and deciding what all I want to put into a 40-gallon tank with as minimal maintenance (and as environmentally "natural") as possible. You've given me some GREAT ideas and I can't wait to put them into action :-) Also, I ran across a neon tetra today that was called a "Veiltail Neon Tetra" - its simply STUNNING ... have you ever seen one?
Hey MD I’m a big fan of the channel and recently saw the last video your plants and how you keep them, you see I’m a big UNS Systems fan as well and recently saw they released a new thing called the Foresta a huge plant holding tank! I would love to see a collab and see you keep plants there! Just a thought loved the video and hope you’re doing good!
md, you are the man and behind every great man... is a great wife. Your the dream team MD and I'm just so happy for you. I've stopped my channel due to personal reasons but maybe I'll be back making videos again. We shall see. Great stuff.
Absolutely the Best video yet. Their is not enough words in the dictionary to describe how beautify you have everything . Totally Amazing. 👍👍 I hope to see more salt water at some point. I am very proud of what you have accomplished.
Piekne akwaria 👍. Często ogladam Twoje filmy i jestem zachwycony poczuciem estetyki. Najbardziej podobają mi sie akwaria naturalne. Pozdrawiam i czekam na kolejne produkcje👍😃
Love your videos. I'm still waiting for you to do a heavy planted geophagus tapajos scape. Also, I would like to see how to trim Amazon puffer beak trimming Tutorial
Not sure if I’ve seen a specific video yet for how you decide spacing for each fish breed. Like pretty much good rule of thumb for spacing different species in different tanks. You brief it in each video but would be nice if you make a specific video going over different scenarios
I saw a video they were using black worms, that instantly had the pea puffers in a feeding frenzy and the worms burrowed, tbh, not many were able to 😂 but it provided the puffers in between feeding snacks. Plus, the loaches and other fish were crazy for the black worms as well, as a variation to their diet,
It would be cool to set up a species tank of adolfoi corys. They are such a striking variety of cory. Expensive though. I wonder if you could set up a tank such that they would breed for you. Imagine having enough that you could start exporting them to new tanks!
Some people just want to make an issue when there isn't an issue. The fact that you can both allow each other to do there own thing actually shows just how good friends you are and how supportive you are of each other MD.
Most people I know who keep and breed Cichlids found that Cichlids do a lot better on pellets once you get them started on them they grow like crazy and always look healthy as
Without a doubt the best freshwater fish RU-vid channel by far - well done 👏 Just a suggestion but do you feed your Mbuna additional algae-based flake or pellets ? They rely heavily on this so just a tropical flake won’t give them everything they need
I’ve not watched your videos for awhile. I thought you had some larger fish in the new 8 foot. There was a beautiful Royal Acara you haven’t got rid of them have you that big tank is wasted without a few larger fish, they don’t all predate on other fish you know. Cobra snake heads are big and beautiful. They don’t damage plants and you can have them with angelfish even neons and they leave them be. You should look into them MD they will be a real draw for the channel in my opinion 👍☹️
I get mixed up with the timeline of your vids but do you still prefer using zip mesh bags for substrate creation? As I heard you say a concern about toxic gas build up
