In 2008, I met Jurnee and her oldest brother on a trolley in Denver, CO right before the Democratic Convention. They helped me register people to vote. Very kind people!
I love Jurnee and I found out she did a show with her siblings and they weren’t kidding, the entire family is on this show. I don’t understand why it didn’t last at least 3 or 4 seasons. To see an actual family portraying orphans, a great storyline and easy to make more episodes from that alone.
@@autumnasters and the fact family oriented sitcoms were becoming oversaturated. Though if it had been picked up by UPN or WB it might have been a hit.
@@justabreeze460 yeah. Also, it's a cute concept but the idea of all these kids constantly outsmarting social workers as if it's in their best interest to not having any adult supervision is a little odd
Both this show and party of five premiered at the same time and were often compared when entertainment shows talked about the upcoming new shows of fall 1994
I remember On Our Own. It premiered on American television the same time as another TV series about siblings whom lose their parents in a tragic accident - Party of Five.
I remember this T.V program and all of the children except one were really related. I am watching them all grown up on food next work what a lovely family!
@@Powerduo88 : The oldest brother is Ralph Harris. He's not related to Smollet. The other kids are Jussie, Jazz, Jurnee, Jocqui and Jake Smollet. @@@Powerduo88 : Jussie should just throw himself on the mercy of the court with his court case. It's foolish at this point for him to keep lying. He's digging a deeper hole for himself.
@@trinabelle I wonder how his brothers and sisters feel about him lying about his planned assault and that silly letter he wrote to himself that was supposed to be threatening?
Although the this show came out before Party of Five during the same year, it didn't get the same play or the same marketing. Unfortunately we all know why also when watching the show do the comparisons of how the Department of Children and Family Services did this man versus how they did on Party of Five.
Look up the show. ABC tried with it, they really did. They gave it a good slot with an excellent lead in during the mid season and it still wasn't enough. Also, black sitcoms were all the rage in the 90s, this one just wasn't that good. Don't blame racism.
I think they were just trying to give journey smallet her own show following Full House but she wouldn't do it without her siblings or the parents said they can't have journey unless they put her siblings in it either way it seemed forced
Yet for some reason there are comments about how good it is with many likes to boot. I would like to sell these same ppl some poorly constructed trailer homes in the heart of tornado alley. I think I could get some takers...lol!
i was disappointed the show didn't last long......i wonder what ever happened to them. Jussie i remember from the very small role he had in The Might Ducks Movies, and his role in Empire. Journey had a role on the later years of Full House and then the movie Roll Bounce, but I hope they are all doin well
The show was produced by Miller-Boyett Productions and distributed by Warner Bros . Most of the transitional music used on Family Matters , was recycled for this series . It also aired briefly on TGIF . T'keyah Crystal Kemah joined the cast mid season as Scotti Decker , to replace Kimberly Kates who played Alana Michaels , the social worker . This was due in part to the " Ms Doubtfire " storyline being written out , because Josh ended up keeping custody of his siblings .
heyitsablackguy Miller boyett produced all the shows. Step by step full house family matters and this show. You noticed theme song is sung by Jesse Frederick and intros are the same
@@christophernicholson20 The intros were the best thing about some of those shows. Very well-produced. Nowadays, most shows just start abruptly. I really miss TV theme songs!
Reason 1 this show didn't work... he was 20 a manger at a restaurant, had been taking care of them for over a year and they didn't consider him an adult. The story was trash.
Never heard of it. I knew ofjurnee but didn't know her name and surely didn't know she was a smollett. And I only know the name smollett bc of the alleged attack claims made by jussie.
I had so many issues with this show as a person from St. Louis. We don't call them The St. Louis Cardinals. We just call them The Cardinals. Also what part of St. Louis is that house supposed to be in? Clearly the mom stepped out once ect.
The house looks mostly like the homes in Clifton Heights despite knowing this is just a low budget TV show. St. Louis almost NEVER gets an accurate representation no matter what.
