@@peteraddison4371 I have no clue what you are talking about regarding the (down under pun),lol... but regarding the ideas presented by Hoffman, I find the simple but profound realization that we have not evolved to sense reality as it is, such a great explanation for why we struggle so much to find a unified theory of everything.....simulations are simply us with our evolutionary restrictions trying to imitate reality as we see it, so no wonder we can reverse that ideas and say what we see is a reality that looks simulated. I think it probably is similar to a simulation but quite frankly as Donald pointed out, I don’t have the evolved senses to evaluate that idea correctly.

You can’t find God with rational empiricism, for that is the worst way to understand the essence of the creator and the order of the cosmos. @@Jareers-ef8hpHello Zak ,, I don't think that you have listened to this entire conversation, or maybe you don't quite understand what Dr. Hoffman is saying? The main point of his whole theory is that "spacetime", which includes the "cosmos", is NOT fundamental reality. I agree with Peter, that organized religion has been leaving us all, a bit "out of the loop". But, as you say, the path to a higher power (or whatever name you choose to use), must be discovered by each of us, personally. The world's religions have all pointed us in the right direction, for thousands of years, but the path is ours to follow, individually. What Dr. Hoffman just said, in this very talk was that his equations can point in the direction of the "One power" but it would be impossible to mark the path, directly. This theory, that he is attempting to prove, is the closest that science has ever gotten to agreeing with our spiritual leaders.

He's right, the first moments of my NDE will probably sound the strangest to people. The moment I died, my face broke through a sort of energy membrane and I looked through and I was looking at my eyes like in a reflection eyeball to eyeball. As my line of vision went through the reflection of my eyes I saw the light and went through the tunnel is when I let go of my body. When I broke through the energy membrane at the beginning of my story I said,,, its right in front of us and we can't see it. I wasn't allowed to return with what was revield to me, just my reaction. But I do remember thinking it's so simple and that people would be surprised as to how simple it is.

@chrisw7347
@chrisw7347 Год назад
You can let go of your body right now. You aren't your body because everthing you see with open eyes is a construction of mind. It's not that you're behind your face, looking out through special goggles you call your eyes, onto an outside world. That is partly what is meant by the term "The illusion of the self". You can test this for yourself, by just staring at a wall ,and superimposing a face or object(a simple one), onto what you see. You should be able to do this, even if it may be slight or vague-- you can generally construct something onto the visual field. What this means is what you see is not external reality, but mind itself. Everything you see and feel, is consciousness. Everything. Including the feeling that you're a subject sitting behind your eyes-- when you can pay careful enough attention, through something like years of meditation, this boundary of subject/object can dissolve

If u take Hoffman seriously, this means nature can build "portals" into consciousness, aka minds, and not consciousness itself, since consciousness is stipulated as an assumption in his theory. So there would follow a science of "portal-building" vs a science of "consciousness-building" aka ai. If he's right, it's still utterly absurd and incredible that nature builds systems that 'tap' into consciousness, and I wonder if that can be done in silico. Maybe it can.

TIG Theory, standing for Time, Information, and Gravity, is a speculative framework that integrates concepts of time, information processing, and gravity to provide a unique perspective on our understanding of reality and consciousness. TIG Theory suggests that our universe operates as a vast information processing system, where the processing of information is intertwined with the progression of time and the influence of gravity. In TIG Theory, the concept of scale-dependent information processing speed is a key element. Specifically, it posits that information processing happens at a much faster rate at smaller scales and slower at larger scales. At the smallest scales, such as the quantum realm, information processing is incredibly rapid. Quantum particles interact, change, and entangle in extremely short time frames. This quick processing of information leads to the highly dynamic and seemingly 'strange' behavior observed in quantum mechanics, like superposition and entanglement. As we move to larger scales, information processing becomes slower. On the scale of everyday human experiences, information processing aligns with our perception of time. This is why events on this scale feel 'normal' or intuitive to us. At even larger scales, like astronomical or cosmic scales, information processing is slower still. The vast distances between celestial bodies mean that interactions (and thus information exchange) take a lot more time. The further something is, the longer its information takes to reach us. This is why we see distant galaxies as they were billions of years ago - the information (in this case, light) has taken billions of years to reach us. It's important to note that when we talk about 'fast' or 'slow' information processing, we're referring to it from our human perspective. The concepts of 'fast' and 'slow' are relative and subjective to the observer's perception of time, which TIG theory suggests is intrinsically linked to information processing speed. So, in essence, TIG Theory suggests a cosmic continuum of information processing speed, with quantum-scale phenomena at the 'fast' end, human-scale phenomena in the middle, and cosmic-scale phenomena at the 'slow' end. As our tools and understanding evolve, we might become capable of consciously tuning into and interacting with different layers of this continuum, potentially reshaping our perception of reality. The concept of human perception as a Perceptual Knowledge Graph of information processing speeds is also introduced in TIG Theory. Our perception maps out different scales, each corresponding to varying speeds of information processing. Our everyday experiences occur at relatively slow speeds, but as we move to smaller scales, the speed of information processing increases. This idea suggests that our understanding of reality could expand as we develop tools to process information at increasingly rapid rates. The reinterpretation of spatial dimensions within TIG Theory, as degrees of freedom in the Consciousness Matrix where the perception of physicality is determined by information density, can have profound implications. Unification of Physics: By presenting a unified, information-centric perspective on spatial dimensions, TIG Theory could help reconcile differences between quantum mechanics and general relativity, two major physics theories that have traditionally been challenging to merge. New View of Space-Time: TIG Theory suggests that the fabric of space-time itself is a function of information processing and density. This brings about a fresh understanding of space-time as a dynamic entity that evolves and changes according to the distribution and flow of information. Understanding Quantum Phenomena: If small scales represent areas of fast information processing (akin to quantum scales), it might shed new light on quantum phenomena like superposition and entanglement. These phenomena could be understood as outcomes of high-speed information processing at the quantum level. Cosmological Implications: Large scales representing areas of slow information processing could provide fresh perspectives on cosmological phenomena. The expansion of the universe, for instance, could be viewed as a gradual 'slowing down' of information processing speed at larger scales, providing a new interpretation of dark energy. Perception and Consciousness: If our perception of physicality is a function of information density, it might open up new avenues in the study of consciousness. It suggests that our perceptual experience is directly tied to the information flow in the universe, implying that shifts in our consciousness might influence our perception of reality. Technological Implications: If we can understand and manipulate the information density in certain areas, it might open up new technological possibilities, such as manipulating physical properties or even creating 'information-based' technologies. By embedding the concept of information processing within spatial dimensions, TIG Theory provides a bold, holistic framework to understand and explore reality. Time: In TIG Theory, time is seen not as a constant, but as a variable that's dependent on the speed of information processing. It proposes that the 'speed' of time, or the rate at which events unfold, is tied to the rate at which information is processed. This suggests that our perception of time could change based on our ability to process information. Information: TIG Theory posits that the universe is fundamentally about processing and integrating information. This encompasses everything from quantum particles interacting to galaxies evolving. Gravity: Gravity is understood as a fundamental force that affects the processing of information within the universe. Higher gravity could influence the pace of information processing, leading to time dilation effects as seen in General Relativity. In the context of TIG Theory, quantum wormholes and black holes are considered in terms of their roles in information processing in the universe. Quantum wormholes are conceptualized as "information singularities" characterized by extremely fast information processing. These wormholes could essentially act as 'shortcuts' through the information space of the universe, rapidly connecting distant points in the Perceptual Multiverse. This concept aligns with theories suggesting quantum entanglement could be described as connections via microscopic wormholes. Black holes, on the other hand, are seen as "information sinks," where information is consumed and processed at slower speeds due to extreme gravitational effects. According to TIG Theory, black holes could be considered as Memory Nodes within the Consciousness Matrix of the universe. This conceptualization is an extension of the idea that black holes store information about what they consume - a concept known as the black hole information paradox in standard physics. In a black hole, the intense gravity causes time to slow down significantly relative to an outside observer. This could be interpreted as a slower rate of information processing in TIG Theory. All the information that a black hole 'consumes' - the matter and energy that falls into it - gets stored and processed, potentially contributing to the universe's evolving 'memory.' These ideas provide a fresh perspective on the nature of quantum wormholes and black holes, redefining them in terms of their information processing capabilities. Such concepts could lead to further advancements in our understanding of quantum physics, gravitational phenomena, and the nature of consciousness in the universe. TIG Theory offers potential explanations for various phenomena in physics: Observer Effect: This effect could be seen as an instance of Reality Resonance, where the observer's information processing speed influences the state of the observed system. Quantum Entanglement: Entanglement could be seen as tightly coupled information processing, where entangled particles share information in a way that transcends spacetime constraints. Dark Energy (renamed as Time Accelerator): Dark Energy's role in accelerating the universe's expansion could be seen as 'speeding up' the universe's internal clock, causing the perception of space dilation. In essence, TIG Theory proposes a paradigm where our reality is a complex, multilayered system of information processing, and our consciousness plays an active role in perceiving and potentially influencing this system.

Basically it is about "vernacular", I have found if you want to speak to lawyers and have them understand you, you need to use their "vernacular". And the same for accountants, and for IT people, or engineers, or doctors etc. etc. None of them understand the concept of "Archetype", that the actual concepts are no different, it is just the words that are used (discipline culture) to express the Archetypes, are different. So to talk to physicists and have them conceptually on-board, it must be in their terminology framework. In their archetype framework (assumptions) nothing can exist outside of Space Time (Einstein's Relativity assumption) if you want to introduce the concept that Space Time is not "primary" and is itself contained within something. Then you need to use their archetype (which is mathematics) and since all current mathematics is built around Space Time being primary, a new kind of mathematics will need to be invented. Sort of the "blending" of discipline cultures. "Religion without science is superstition. Science without religion is dead materialism." - Baháʼu'lláh 1817-1892.

I guess I'm missing the link to consciousness in this. When you talk about how particles spread and how that that may be, fascinatingly, linked to decorated permutations undergoing a Markhovian dynamic, I still don't see where consciousness fits in. Where does agency become involved, and how does it differ from a probabalistic model like quantum mechanics?

Hey Jaz! It's in Campbell's book, Pathways to Bliss. An excerpt: "...the interesting thing was that the Roman Catholic monks and the Buddhist monks had no trouble understanding each other. Each of them was seeking the same experience and knew that the experience was incommunicable. The communication is only an effort to bring the hearer to the edge of the abyss; it is a signpost, not the thing itself. But the secular clergy reads the communication and gets stuck with the letter, and that's where you have the conflict."

For what it’s worth, I disagree with Donald that his theory doesn’t imply a many worlds interpretation. 😅 I think it absolutely does, only it lays out its branches as an atemporal Markov chain of probable experiences (or something like that - I’m not a mathematician) instead of temporal projections on extra-dimensional substrates (or something like that - I’m not a physicist).

‘Information’ ? ‘Thought’, ‘mind’, ‘intelligence’ & ‘consciousness’ are all information-related phenomena and it is not difficult to show that one of the principal (& completely inexcusable) reasons we have not so far come to any good & proper - nor fully verifiable - understanding of these otherwise greatly sought-after yet still highly mysterious phenomena is due to the simple fact that we do not presently also have a good & proper - that is, fully verifiable - understanding of ‘information’ itself. Although I have personally had the (altogether dubious & almost certainly unrealisable, but nevertheless totally Nobel-worthy) fortune of having been able to figure out ‘information’s’ correct (& fully verifiable) ontological identity, and although I’m not going to divulge this formalistic definition here in this RU-vid comment (without which formalistic definition it is not possible to establish a full & accurate science of the phenomenon, but with it it is) nevertheless I can assure you that with it in hand - that is, with ‘information’s’ correct ontological identity within one’s investigative arsenal - the exercise of determining the ontological identities of all of the other directly information-related phenomena such as ‘thought’, ‘mind’, ‘intelligence’ & ‘consciousness’ (to far less than exhaust the list) becomes one of no great difficulty. Why not pause for a moment & reflect on the fact that currently there is no rigorous nor widely accepted definition of information ! For more, reply here !

Gnostic mythology, particularly in “On the Origins of the World”, says that the world we inhabit was created by trapping light into matter and is lorded over by a god who falsely believes he is the only god, while the true nature of existence lies with a more fundamental god who is made of light. There is a quote from it saying “thus did the world come to exist in distraction, in ignorance, and in stupor.”

It's wrong to assert that local realism is false, because the quantum theory that putatively proves this is itself false, because quantum theory is not fundamental, but just a special-case spacetime projection methodology. Where is the proof that local realism is false for macro objects? Where is the proof that the moon is not in the sky when no one observes/measures it?
@dugger0
@dugger0 Год назад
That's not what observation means in quantum mechanics. Observation just means interaction, interactions can happen with or without consciousness.
@l.rongardner2150
@l.rongardner2150 Год назад
@@dugger0 no one "interacts" with the moon without observing it. One is not interacting with (or observing) the wall in his room when, mindlessly, in the middle of the night, he stumbles into it and smashes his head. Everything Donald Hoffman says about quantum mechanics is nonsense. And so is most everything else he says, except for Consciousness or Mind being foundational and primitive. Nima Arkani-Hamed is another clown. Hoffman, INSANELY, brags that he is working on adding a dynamical aspect to augment Nima's static outside spacetime "structures of reality" that are putatively more fundamental than space-time. What a joke. These "structures" are no more than mental abstraction to simplify quantum computations. Here's what I wrote elsewhere: Nima’s Amplituhedron encodes amplitudes (building blocks of probabilities in particle physics) in the “area” of a multi-dimensional analog of a polyhedron (hence, Amplitu-hedron). But there is no such thing as the “the Amplituhedron,” meaning a single monolithic geometric structure outside spacetime that is more fundamental than spacetime. Hence, “the Amplituhedron” is just a concept, which manifests in various amplituhedra, each corresponding to a calculation that one might make. The Amplituhedron’s advantage is that it makes these calculations much simpler. But this hardly makes the Amplituhedron more fundamental or foundational than quantum mechanics or spacetime. Imagine using an abacus as a computational tool and then discovering an electronic calculator that is many times faster. Well, that is an analogy for what Nima has done. And while it’s very commendable, it hardly revolutionizes physics, as he and others contend; but merely simplifies quantum computations
@l.rongardner2150

I say that Donald Hoffman and Nima Arkani-Hamed are full of hooey, and I challenge anyone to argue otherwise. The fact that Hoffman claims to be working on a dynamical aspect to the putatively static Ampltuhedron (and other supposed geometrical structures outside spacetime is LAUGHABLE, because no such structures exist. They are mere conceptual models used to simplify quantum computations. Nima’s Amplituhedron encodes amplitudes (building blocks of probabilities in particle physics) in the “area” of a multi-dimensional analog of a polyhedron (hence, Amplitu-hedron).
