Bobby Azarian (the guy in the video!) here, posting from my youtube channel Road to Omega. Just wanted to say that the comments on the last video had some of the best questions I've ever seen in response to my talks, so this time I wanted to make myself available to anyone who might have questions or comments they'd like a response to in the comment section. Feel free to ask me anything, and thank you again to Carlos and the community for taking an interest in this work!

Hi Bobby, thanks for playing with my question that Carlos brought up. I was being a bit quick and dirty in using the phrase "... that's how things level up" [through cooperation], so let me expand on what I meant by "level up". Here I'm showing commitment to level ontology (Neoplatonic, see John Vervaeke, Alicia Juarrero). To give an example, cells have to collectively give themselves up, to be governed by, a higher mode of organization in order for an organ to form (level up). Cells are on lower level than organs, each level is real. In fact, I would maintain each level has "it's own kind of reality", to put it clumsily. Thus, an organ is understood as very particular modulation of a cell collective. (Privately, I maintain that anything that exists, exists as a stack of modes, but that's just in my head). This is directly opposed to nominalism, which would maintain that these higher-order patterns (molecules, cells, organs, etc.) are just useful arbitrary ways of carving reality and that only the lowest level is real. (Occam: one shouldn't multiply entities beyond what's necessary.) So, it is in this sense of cooperation that I understand complexification takes place. And ultimately, through McGilchrist, I believe that cooperation must be primary to hold an entity (organs, body, planet, etc.) together.

I wonder about Universal Bayesianism and it's limitations. Fundamentally, I think your theory tracks an important and relevant pattern, but I think its formulation has some limitations. I say this because I've read a few papers on ecological rationality and radical uncertainty. In Bayes theorem, as I understand it, one works with probability density functions which have to be defined over a support. In radical uncertainty scenarios, one is faced with ignorance even about what the support of that distribution should be. So if I don't know what the support is, then I can't form a PDF, thus I can't perform the Bayesian probabilistic inversion (get the posterior). I'm assuming in this case the universe is an agent with cognitively limited resources (or something homologous to it) faced with radical uncertainty. Do you have any thoughts on this? (I know crazy, but here we are :)).

Part 1 was incredible part 2 continues to earn a part 3. There are many highlights throughout, overall my favorite segments were the final ones. As always my gratitude, respect and praise for the effort and care when attempting to converse about the near ineffable.

What he says at the 29min mark about evolution and optimization is one of the most understated points in modern biosciences even though a handful of scientists are clear it's the most significant discovery of our era (and very related to the whole maxent thing). It's the main reason studying this stuff leads to huge breakthroughs in medicine or computing every time we get a little sharper of a picture of how organisms evolved, and it's gotten so complicated in recent decades we can basically only use big data and mountains of sensors to validate any of it. Also goes to show just how grounded your perspective needs to be to begin to get down to the core of all this, even if the most often you'll see it used in practice is in economics and adaptive military/industrial control systems x__x

Around the 1:11:00 mark talking about "cooperative emergent universes" or whatever, IMO we should be focusing on that bridge just between ourselves and refining what a rational consensus should look like as it's every man for themselves right now. This is especially pertinent as we throw ethics and consensus in the trash in American universities in favor of for profit politics and intellectual property hoarding that is an epidemic both in universities and corporations which look and act more and more alike every year. The fundamentals of philosophy begin in large part with a profound recognition of the Other, both in nature and in other people, and a deep longing to bridge our separateness of mind for a more profound experience of being entangled in love or immersed in beauty and joy that otherwise gets relegated to a purely religious or instinctual/behavioral belief, that's like the entire shtick of continental philosophy (and to some extent analytical philosophy in a more bottom-up way) which helped inspire a lot of the modern language behind what Bobby is saying. If we get too abstract from that we lose the plot, we need to turn these ideas that are bridging evolutionary sciences and psychology into proper human and environmental rights movements asap since they assert quite clearly how we need to be maximizing diversity and quality of outcomes if we're going to improve life on earth and reach higher heights. No single person no matter how smart will ever get past a certain outer extent from the collective unconsciousness that is our culturally/linguistically driven world and the imposed limits of how we can develop as people within that context (e.g. without trauma, with enough food, stimulus, etc). And otherwise we're all locked into a vertical of what has been written and verified with consensus and it's usually str8 up irresponsible narcissism or schizophrenia to talk otherwise, but we are well past the point of needing more incremental conservative science to prove things like human and environmental rights are immutable and top priorities in the face of our innate needs to be together in life or to learn to be more than just "functional for the economy" or whatever lol, humans are not meant to be serfs and most people deserve much better than they ever get. Nature even more deserves better for what it's granted us.

I don't know why people insist in that the realational way of thinking is the fundamental one, because in the begining, close to the singularity or in the singularity it self ( T=0, or "previous" than that) it's suposed that is NOTHING to related with, i think we need to think in a diferent way if we want to reveal a really deeper understanding of the nature of the universe and reality itself...

So regarding becoming better at Bayesian thinking, how would one go about improving one's ability to consider all possible hypotheses? Namely, how does one increase the scope of one's search space with regards to hypothesis testing for everyday things?

24:00 modern crypto consensus protocols don't use a lot of energy at all - it's mostly Bitcoin that is Proof of Work. Ethereum switched to Proof of Stake and consumes 0.001% of the energy of Bitcoin, and any modern L1 chain is PoS
