An IMOCA 60s world champion, Barcelona World race double winner, Vendée Globe finisher (80 days) named Jean-Piere Dick teams up with one of the worlds leading racing yacht designers (Guillaume Verdier) , who has wins in the America's Cup as well as Vendée Globe and IMOCA world series on his credentials to build his private speed cruising yacht. And most comments have nothing better to do than know-it-all-better. Well the rotating interior with nav station, galley, all batteries & hydraulics shifts the weight & balance and makes the boat faster and more comfortable windwards. It comes straight from the Paprec 2, Vendée Globe team .... In between the two front bunks, which are thought as daybeds really, you have the backwards to the bulkhead facing canting toilet, which will be a save shit wild heels. And a large shower cabin. For those who worry; there is two large cabins with comfy double bunks aft. You may like it, or not, but some thought went into there. By better sailors than all of us here....

Very fast planing sailing boat, but will tire any sailor going on a cruise in a wavy sea. That wide transom would not like waves attacking the boat from the back, the helmsman would need to stir well to avoid broaching. Still, at my old age, I would not mind having the thrill of sailing her, in a flat sea on a windy day.............for not more than half a day, however, as it would tire me around the waist with all the impulses one needs to face. A very good racer for young people.

This seems to be more for regatta-sports than for cruising - the canting keel and the rotatingb nav-/pantry-unit seconding the effort to balance the boat, clearly show this ! I like the idea to have additional system like this; the sheer beauty and atmosphere of the interior may well be neglected, if everything is set up for super light weight and mere functionality. You have to question of course, whether the joints on wich the whole weight of the rotating unit sits can endure all the stress of high speeds in rough waters ?

Interesting design. Would love to see the keel in full. Spartan as hell, but great for racing. Using the word “Cruising” is a bit odd in this case... Not really a cruiser in any sense of the word. Looks like a fast little witch though!

A 'poor' man's Baltic that emphasizes gadgetry over competence. It's clearly meant as a fast weekend cruiser rather than racing. How much a weight penalty is there for the silly rotating galley or the dinghy bat cave? Paper charts are clearly banned aboard, as there's no room at the "nav station." Where does one eat, after cooking on the very small galley. I could see a long weekend aboard depending on how the storage is handled. If it's speed matches its looks (which I'm seriously inclined to doubt), it would hit the spot for those who like a fast sail and don't like varnishing. On the other hand, I suspect the owner (or the yard workers) will spend a lot of time repairing this and that gadget.
@martijnheil8825

@@DavidHHermanson The rotating galley/nav station is clearly used as moveable ballast, so the added weight doesn't matter much.

I'm sure it's considered a day boat with exhilaration. obviously meant to be sailed by only the very skilled multi hull sailors. Not for mono hull sailors even if their experience spans decades. To sail one is an acquired skill, though easily obtainable for skilled mono hull sailors. Dean Barker is a perfect example. He rarely capsized if ever since 2012 if I'm not mistaken. Previous to his AC45 displacement sailing days and SL33 AC R&D, he mentioned having mucked around on Hobie 16's when he was younger. Anyone who can sail a banana hull designed for the surf successfully in difficult conditions knows.

In the real world of sailing when people are crossing oceans they have all sorts of things onboard that they carry, and sometimes in difficult situations the cabing gets cluttered with things, such as ropes/fenders/jackets/etc. Any of these items could get in the way of this rotating galley/nav station and block/stop it swivelling. This boat may appear wonderful in theory, but I wonder if it actually functions safely and properly in the real world

Canting keel and nav/galley, keep the weight to windward, didn't see an easy way to re-stack sails. Perhaps sails are meant to be kept on rollers and the main has 4 reefs. Somewhere aft are storm sails. Overall its a down to business racer with enough cruiser to make living on it for a few weeks a pleasant experience. Some of us, even when we cruise, we want as much speed as possible. Cool boat. The comments in this thread, ha-ha-ha-ha, so many inexperienced people. Hard to believe that the citizens of most countries were sea faring just a century ago.

The rotating module inside the the Star Trek interior is rather at odds with the clumsy - comparatively normal - loading of the tender into the garage, which entailed hauling by hand. Christ, there wasn't even a gas-strut on that huge lid...Given the choice, I'd sooner have automatic dinghy stowage rather than chase the cooker.

I see a few little problems with the rotating nav station/galley, like squishing sleeping or inebriated sailors. I also see people sitting on lots of hard plastic or gelcoat, which could get pretty bothersome on any passage lasting longer than a half-hour. Other than those semi-fixable situations, I LOVE this design and the futuristic interior!!!!!!

So, why have a movable galley/nav station in a cruiser where lots of little "clutter" items will likely get thrown around, particularly in such a light/fast cruiser? I like the attempt to create something unique, but I can't see that ever being used for real cruising. The dinghy garage is nice if you've got the room, I suspect every cruiser would love to have one. The chain washer looks mostly useless.

Kanting keel looks like it leaks, swivelling unit should be longitudinal. Steering wheel could have auto controlled unit. Sit in the cabin and press button! Pull sails in or let out. Big sky arm comes and lifts the whole boat over waves. OR stay at home and watch it all on TV. Music very annoying too- needs thunderclap wave riders and masses of green water flying over the decks. I suspect this boat will be discovered in the area of the Bermuda Triangle in the year 2072. An example of what not to do with a sail boat. Hope you like the comments, SUBSCRIBE AND ENJOY THIS CHANNEL Gpx
@AgneDei
@AgneDei 7 лет назад
Clearly the kanting keel is leaking by design (it would be unreliable to seal that kind of a moving part), so instead sealing the box around the keel kanting mechanism is the easy way to make it reliably sealed, and not introduce unnecessary drag on the kanting mechanism, and give an easy access to that mechanism. This is clearly a tourist version of a very extreme around the glove racing yacht, and I really like it. Perhaps except the rotating navigation/cooking thing, that's a bit much. If there wasn't enough ballast then they could just make the keel heavier instead of adding all that mechanics inside the boat.

Hmmm, news at 11:00, galley slave/crew crushed by rotating station. I can sort of see the weight dist. thing, but if you ever got into a bad sea and really had to get somewhere, I do no see this as an advantage. Nice centrally, permanent, located work place and use all the power of the fancy stuff to just a simple side-to-side, low power usage, counter-weight somewhere lower in the hull? Though I find much of new tech interesting/fascinating, I think it is sort of optimistic thinking, especially considering the electrical systems involved, not something I would want to pound the seas with or have break down, a fair-weather fast-craft for inner waters IMHO. The canting keel is cool feature, but in a heavy sea I would be concerned about the stresses involved having it mounted on only one side, would not having it braced/rams on both sides be more logical so they could spread the stress on the hull out? I don't know, not an engineer, but I do not think my concerns are unfounded. Its pretty and I wouldn't sneeze at it if it fell into my lap, but I'll stick to something that doesn't have so much tech voodoo thanks. Nice vid btw! Cheers!

the most important thing here is how fast can this boat average in 24 hours. now to pay for all those gimmicks, and putting up with all their problems i.e having to keep the saloon spotless to avoid jamming etc, and the boat only average 10 kt or 11 kt, then it will be completely pointless. however if the boat can average 17 kt or more in 24 hours, then all that AND more would be worth it to put up with. for a boat which suppose to go fast, don't you find it odd that the video avoided mentioning speed?
