Solo trip to Robert C Byrd locks and dam in search of monster Ohio river walleye. Found a few SLABS, didn't break my ankle and accidentally snagged a chunky BUFFY.
Where is this at..I am thinking of hitting all the locks in ohio for my vacation this year. Any good places with easy access to? I am up by canton, ohio
People out here saying "you released my fishin spot" meanwhile I've been on that dam countless times with my dad and caught everything under the sun there in the summer and now that covid hit and I got time, I'm hitting it here and there, what's their point? Its a giant concrete dam, with water that is turbid and with millions of rocks covering the bottom, lots of good structure, and high oxygen content. Thats literally the recipe for a good public fishing spot.... People amaze me.
I used to catch big hog walleye down there on the West Virginia side in Newell 20 some years ago had a great time with my friend catching eyes and saugeyes. Fished of the Dam wall and down on the rocks great memories
You are a brave soul my friend. Putting your fingers down in its throat lol. But you a little power pack and plug it in to your gopro. That's what I do and it last all day!
I'm jealous. That's awesome man Down here its unheard of to catch a walleye but I caught one so that gave me the drive to catch another. As big of water way down here I'm willing bet that 10 pounder is here. I'll have to watch some more of your videos to get some tips
@@aaroncummins4109 keep an eye peeled I just bought me a 2070 crestliner so so boat content is headed that way as well as some more walleye/sauger/saugeye!!!
Damn, i haven't fished in the river for a few decades. it really is cleaned up quite a bit. those fish couldn't live in that water in when I was a kid and a young adult. After all the mills shut down it got drastically cleaner. I rarely caught anything in there but catfish and carp when I was young. It was very rare to catch anything else. nothing could live in that shit. I'm still scared to eat anything out of there because I caught so many deformed abnormal fish back then. Big tumors on their body, one eyed, 2.5 eyes, side ways jaws. It's crazy what those fish endured. I mercy killed a lot of them. I'm in south east Ohio.
I've personally eaten a few from the Muskingum and water shed leading into the Ohio. River is much cleaner today than it has been in decades (since it once caught on fire). Fish everywhere contain various amounts of chemicals you can't get away from that, but I know people who have been eating fish from the ohio for 40+ years no issues yet!
I figured I was going to catch it for "tossing these guys". My defense is that the splash from the waves was immediately freezing on the rocks and it was impossible to get next to the water without slipping and falling in. I don't condone throwing fish and I was trying to be as gentle as I could!
I'm actually ambidextrous it just happens to be what is comfortable at that point in time. I know it seems ineffective/inefficient to switch hands every cast. I'm all over the place. I'm right hand dominant and write with my right hand but I kick with my left foot haha.
Sometimes when we launch 3 and 4 oz spoons for hybrids my arm get pretty tired from hours of constant retrieve so I switch my handle over on my spinning combo. Its real dumb
If your from here then you know thats the only decent place to fish in this whole area so why put it on RU-vid? Now it will be difficult to get a spot there. Im all for people catching fish but why bring them from miles away to the only good place there is here just to film yourself on RU-vid? I don't get it
@@richardjohnson1332 There is a massive distinguishing concrete structure in the background, it's pretty easy to deduce where we were just from clues in the video. The only time we wont disclose where we are fishing is if its private property or someone has specifically asked us not to do so. If someone wants to drive hours to fish below Robery C Byrd, then thats great! We hope they catch the fish of a lifetime! There have been a few state record sized fish caught there! Good luck and good fishing!
Dont bother catching a valid sport fish if you are just going to turn him back. That fish wont bite again for a hungry fisherman who is trying to catch food for the table. If you want t hobby buy a video game.
I have a full-time job as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and my Co-host as an occupational therapist, that's how we put food on OUR table. As for the argument about "not biting again" I have myself on several occasions caught the same fish on the following day sometimes even within a 12 hour time period. I don't have time to play games or fish much at the moment as I'm too busy keeping people alive and breathing.
Who are you to tell people what to do with their catch? LMFAO GTFO that be like me telling you how to spend your money what you gonna tell me? The same thing I’d tell you kiss my @$$.
