I am Error wasn't a glitch though. It was the name of the character. Someone's else in the game tells you to "Speak to Error by the bridge." And the Error is by a bridge. If you dont speak to the first NPC first he just says, "I am Error" and nothing happens. If you speak to him after speaking to the first NPC, he still says, "I am Error" but then activates the bridge.

@@icspps "welcome to die" is intentional too: it's magneto interrupting his own bbeg spiel to get a surprise attack...though if you really want to do that the trick is to keep talking normally while you act, not to switch in the middle of a sentence: it makes it damned near impossible for people to parse the action as an attack instead of as part of the communication but you need to pull it off with no change in tone/pacing/expression/etc which is WAY harder than it sounds, even if you're just pressing a button or saying a trigger word...kinda like how it's nearly impossible to cuss with zero emphasis. "all your base are belong to us" really is a translation error though, specifically a ww2 machine translation which honestly makes it pretty damned impressive since all the parts are right, the connective words are just wonky since the languages use different methods for that and direct translation of them is impossible.

@@evernewb2073 all your base isn't machine translation. It's a result of cutting corners and forcing one of the programmers whose expertise included only programming languages to try and write properly constructed sentences. Humans are the kind of creatures to start breaking sentences and morphing concepts when met with language barrier. Try to search for a video when Japanese try speaking English and can't say "refrigerator"(UPD: it was "Eri Kamei (Morning Musume) Shock English Interview"). One of the people featured in the video said "Cheese in my hand" while she meant "Are the cheese". Machine translation, on the other hand, does not know the semantics. It can break the syntax but it would not translate "Together with Federation forces, we took over all your bases" into "All your base are belong to us" because no dictionary would put "take over" and "belong" as synonyms. That's the product of semantic shift only available to neural networks humans (and to lesser extent Google) possess. Toaplan did not have such technology.

@@MidheimOfficial There really isn't a "basic level" (other than an automatic score of 1 for just being herself). We've downgraded the standard undermining of the rest of the cast to a 4 since it happens so often.

I am error wasn't a mistake, there was supposed to be another guy that said "I am bug." but his line was mistranslated, so now there is just a guy that says "I am error." for no reason.

It actually was a half-mistranslation. His name was supposed to be “Errol” or something of that sort, but Japanese Ls and Rs are the same letter.

@@rodgersmilth30 his name is Error. Erā in Japanese literally translates into Error. Most people just assumed it was a mistranslation. There is another NPC who says "Speak to Error by the bridge." If you didnt talk to that NPC first, Error (located by a bridge) just says "I am Error." and does nothing else. If you speak to him after the other NPC tells you to, Error opens the bridge for you. In the Japanese version there is also a character named Bug who uses the same Sprite albeit with a different color shirt. It was an inside joke that was only half told in localization because Bugs name wasn't translated.

My favourite thing about the "I am Error" line is that it's NOT the line or name that got screwed up. Bagu, on the other hand, should've been Bug, to make the connection between the two (and the joke) obvious.

I wonder how many people know that Error in Zelda 2 isn't actually an error? (If you don't know or don't care to look it up, he has a brother named "Bug," and you need to put the "Error/Bug" pun together to figure out where to get a progression item. "Bug" was mistranslated as "Bagu" in the NA release, ironically making _him_ the error, not Error.)

Bad Advice character is probably doing this for one of two reasons: 1. He didn't get a line and therefore wants to run other people's opportunites or 2. He's like black hat from XKCD. making people nervous and making them mess up is his job... Either way, seeing him deliberately work to make Line Character nervous is giving me anxiety.
