Honestly I kinda like that it's "not quite true to the original", as you put it. If I wanted to hear the original I would've listened to that - we're here because we love how you handle it!
When the full sound of the SID kicks in around 0:22, I was NOT disappointed. That was such a nice little buildup, and it catches the listener way off guard when you switch it up. Beautiful rendition, I loved it. The SID has among my favorite sound of the retro computers, and you really put it to good use in this track.
I would definitely spend an eternity even just trying to exactly copy the original in a tracker. You tracker people are all super skilled and dedicated.
Even today I still dont understand why is it so hard for VSTs to emulate a C64 SID sound. This does not sound like C64 SID at all. I have tried so many VSTs and none of them sound like real C64 SID, most are way off. Insidious 6581 plugin is the closest (check Commodore 64 Sid Tribute channel), Fakesid app and SidTracker64 are cool too. It is pretty upsetting for us that like SID music. :) Does anyone know a great C64 SID VST? PS: I love your work (Jeroen Tel - Cybernoid 2 cover my favorite), I am just commenting the "SID" sound of this plugin, not the song.
@@SwissVinyl I really don't know to explain it but when you have been listening to SID chip for all your life you just know that it is not the right sound approximation. Again, I am only commenting the program you use, not your skills in any way.
