And this is why I never bother listening to these magazine reviews. I swear, every mag has a different 'top bike'. I think you've missed a huge point that most people in the market for an MV or a Ducati are willing to spend the extra few bucks to get something a bit more rare and thrilling to ride. Yeah, you can buy a cheaper bike that's faster or does things better in a lot of occasions but it doesn't make it a better bike. The ZX10R is faster than my 899 but it looks like a pile of ass, I hate the ergos, no quick shifter, feels cheap, etc etc. You seem like the kind of guys that would say a Gallardo sucks because a GTR can beat it around track. There are a lot more pieces to the pie :).
@DarwinAllen

Keyboard warrior? Lol ok dude. You own both? Sure ya do. Sounds like you're the one that's full of shit here. Looking back at your comments you claim to own about ten different bikes. Let's see a video :).

Darwin Allen dude, I decided on the f3 because of the looks. I've seen the even more expensive ducs more often than the f3. those who complain about it's performance not being up to par with the Japanese bikes won't ever be taking the bikes to those limits anyways, I know I won't. I just want to enjoy riding it and looking at it.

yeah i argree with you man i have a z1000 2015 with trans logic quick sifter and akra full system with power commander tuned it was fast it handle good and was reliable but when i got on my friend monster 1200s with the termi slip on even thou there no perceivable real world advantage in both performance and usability in some instance even a disadvantage in some area i couldn't shake off the allure of the l twin it wasant faster but it just feels special it feels amazing the tft screen the design yes its more expensive and its not actually faster or economical or as reliable but when you ride it you never really feel its overpriced i think its like Ferrari yes there a Nissan that will beat it in every conceivable test you wish to perform and is cheaper and more reliable buts its not objective test that define the bike its the subjective nature of it they just somehow make you like them

I'm no expert on bikes and this is the first video I've seen from you guys. But when the majority of the comments on your video are basically shitting on it you cant ignore they might be right... Only reason I came here is because its one of the first videos that pops up when you search MV Agusta F3. Then you guys just say its decent and it needs work on a few things? The Mv is the most captivating sport bike I've ever seen. I would buy it just to look at it. I mean people pay way more for paintings right? Just because Older Ferraris and Lambos Weren't necessarily the best all around sports cars Compared to 911s Didn't stop people from buying them.. I mean when your bike looks like this and has this kind of performance you should expect to have to compromise anyways. I mean at the end of the day It's Italian, and what would that mean if it had no character? Ducati has been The Bench Mark for so long it also deserves respect in its own right. "The first thing you'll notice about the F3 800 is tremendous but usable power?" No the first thing you'll notice is that bike is the one of the most Beautiful and visually stimulating things I've ever seen and has the same effect as Super Car posters in a kids room. YOU SEE IT YOU WANT IT.

Worst of both worlds? A gateway bike? Better performance because of less power? I don't think an objective reviewer would conclude that no one should buy a particular bike. According to them, the MV Agusta has better power, braking and handling but you shouldn't buy it because of the traction control? What do they mean by rider interface? There's obviously lots of bias in this review which is disappointing.

Ari never likes MV's even when they are good. I think he expects them to feel like a Japanese I4. I race a new gen F4 and when I switched from my GSXR I was thinking "this was a huge mistake". In reality, I'd not go back. The front end on the MV's is much better than the big 4 (both race bikes had GP 25mm carts). Don't believe everything a magazine rider tells you. Especially a 250 racer!! :P
@flozell87
@flozell87 10 лет назад
Go check out motorcycle usa's shootout. I'm with Pridmore and Waheed. I think the MV's do have a shit interface, no doubt and they require a bit of setup to get right which makes it a bit harder. I think Ari and co. just need a bit of guidance.
@Pinprix

There point is clearly that why pay 15,800 dollars for a bike that will be out performed in almost every category by a ZX10 for example. Seems like a waste of money....a lot of this comes down to value on a review like this. If you like the MV and think hey ill just throw away 3 grand on electronics go for it!
@flozell87
@flozell87 10 лет назад
It won't get outperformed in handling by a zx10 and a zx10 can't race in a 750 class like this bike can. A zx10 also looks like shit compared to the F3.
@sexyitalian891
@sexyitalian891 10 лет назад
***** Guess what a gsxr 750 and gsxr 1000 can't do anything better than the gsxr 600 except accelerate better in a straight line, so why pay the extra money for the others? Same arguement. You are biased dude. For some riders they are willing to pay that premium. The daytona is also ugly and sounds bad compared to the MV. Being a new rider, the only thing that halts me from the MV 800 atm is the ride by wire thing scares me. Besides that, we all make compromises for something we like.

I'm looking at getting one of these bikes next year. I've owned a number of Ducati's and have had the pleasure of flogging one of the first MV Augusta F4's around Buttonwillow Raceway. I think both companies make superb bikes and each has thier strong points and each has some minor glitches. I think its going to come down to personal preference for someone. Each bike is so amazing. Minor glitches can ususally be addressed with adjustments and/or a few aftermarket upgrade bits. I think the price of the Ducati would allow for upgraded rearsets, mirrors and exhaust and still be less money than the MV. Either way, both are sweet bikes.

Did you all see this on your 899 when you were testing, and what would you suggest to correct this problem? Having ridden both extensively I feel this has been an unfair test. The entire point of the MV's nature has been missed, no it isn't a pin point accurate, Japanese inspired precision engineered track bike, it's an engaging, emotive and wild experience, far more exciting than the Ducati. The power is far more linear and usable and the suspension and brakes are considerably better than the Ducati. Side by side the only points the Ducati wins at are dealer support and the dash display.
@simewood2040
@simewood2040 9 лет назад
Ben Wiskin Itotally agree with you. I think the Ducatis throttle to rear wheel feedback is first class compared to MV ride by wire, but apart from ride by wire, the F3 captures everything I liked in my 848, RSV4R factory and earlier GSXRs.

The only reason I watch these reviews is to see the bike in action..Otherwise they are all pretty much BS. The same mag will rate the same bike differently each review.. Don't listen to reviews, buy the bike you want and love. Oh and all the "issues' with Italian bikes are most likely due to poor maintenance buy lazy owners.
@MotorcyclistMag

Actually, those two bikes have stacked up the same way every time we've tested them. We've had the opportunity to ride almost every bike in every category, so our perspectives and opinions are based on loads of actual experience with the bikes in question. On top of it all the guys are impartial, so you're getting straight, unbiased info on performance and features. If you want to ignore the facts presented in these reviews then go ahead, but our guys know how to ride and know how to evaluate bikes.

Look, the reality is, for those riders who prefer to be on one of the big 4, they ride them because they are more accessible to the general public. The Italian motorcycles are usually cost prohibitive for most. Now should one try and make the move from a japanese machine to an italian motorbike, bias is unavoidable. How else do you judge a bike if not based on your former ride? To say you are completely unbiased is a bit of an exaggeration, but I think some bias is healthy in a review since the reviewer will be somewhat more critical, and for those who are in the decision making process, you can go out, hop on a demo, and see if the critique stands... you can't base a purchase on a review... the review helps you see what may or may not be problematic, you absolutely must test ride it yourself.

This was a confusing and poorly worded review. Having ridden both bikes I would say that your riding impressions were only half right. What do YOU ALL want out of a sportbike? Though I agree that the 899 was easier to ride and to me was a better buy than the MV, what exactly makes them the worst of both worlds? Both on the street and on the track these two bikes were more fun to play on and could be wrung out more easily than any liter bike since the rc51. Stop wrecking your credibility by insisting for more power when 98% of us riders never use the power we already have. In the end the 899 likely IS better than the MV and more accessible to ride and buy than the 1199. What YOU likely meant to say is that its motor is more like a typical I4 600 with Vtwin sound, and a clear step up in torque above 8k revs.

I have to agree with classax1. Most of the riders primarily buys these bikes due to their looks and performance as second options.I live in malaysia and this machine's doesn't come cheap. With price like this,we as a customer wants a good after sales service from this manufacturers.So far Ducati offers the best after sales service in Malaysia followed by BMW. The worse after sales service would have to be MV Agusta. RSV4 APRC factory = MYR120K Panigale R = MYR250K HP4 race package = MYR150K Panigale 899 = MYR 120K MV F3 = MYR 99K But end of the day all we want is to have fun with our bikes..

Understand that the fastest bike isn't always the clearcut winner. Because, you know, not all of us are buying a superbike strictly for VR46 & MM93 wannabe work. Besides...A 1/2 second could be something as simple as a solid 9/10ths of a lap, and then doing something unrepeatable in turn X/Y/Z onto the back straight.

It is harder to ride than and get used to than a GSXR 750 or a 899 Panigale but once you get used to it you're going to turn faster laps on then F3 800'because of how terrific the handling is.

@yuskjr
@yuskjr 10 лет назад
the funny thing is that if you watch MCN's review of the GSXR 750, F3 800, & 848 EVO Corse, you'll see that the MV was the fastest in every event & the GSXR 750 was the slowest in every event besides top speed [top speed is meaningless in the twisties - a.k.a. where these bikes were meant to be ridden in the first place].. the MV has better brakes, more power throughout the rev band, a quick-shifter, & better cornering/handling, so im not sure how you're arriving at it not being a good track bike.. the F3 800 hasn't once been rated as a bad track bike.. i know you're making that up - i already know you can't provide a single source to back yourself up.. please try finding a single shred of evidence to the F3 800 being anything but positive on the track & then i'll take you seriously. the F3 800 has but a few minor faults; some fuel mapping issues at low speeds [though this isn't anything new from an MV], a quirky quick-shifter, & an electronics package that is liked/disliked on an individual's taste [only an issue if you're a hardcore track junkie].. none of these are particularly off-putting for the average rider however.. what you meant to say was, "Seems like MV can't make a ROAD bike for anything. The bike is pretty much all show AND TRACK CAPABILITY cause the ride just sucks AT LOW SPEEDS &/OR IN TRAFFIC it seems. At least that's how it's rated.".

Horrible review. These guys give Mvs no justice for their looks. Maybe looks and attention to detail are what people are looking for in an Italian motorcycle.

i received your opinion and threw it in the bin. 899 better than the 1199 come on get real.

There seems to be very little insight in regards to how these bikes truly feel in this video. You've got MCN saying on their video (2 parts no less) that the 899 is the best sport bike on the market. Better than every other sport bike. Period. And then you have these guys pretty much just saying the 899 is better than the MV because the MV Agusta is a terrible bike. I get that this is just a "short shift" episode, but please, I am seriously considering spending hard earned money on the 2014 899 and would like a bit more insight.

I've seen a number of reviews/shootouts involving the 899 and most of them involve it coming up short. The 899 is a brilliant street bike though, especially compared to its bigger sibling, but if I wanted something with that class of power I'd get a 675R. It's a better track weapon out of the crate and the fully adjustable Ohlin's forks and shock can likely be tuned to replicate or approximate the 899's cushy ride on the street. Oh and it's a few grand cheaper. If you like the Duc by all means get it. Just don't do it thinking you've picked up a best in class machine. It's not.

BTrain5489 Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Each to their own I guess. In each persons eyes there is always something better out there regardless of what or how good it is.

Who pays for their advert's? Ducati? They had nothing good to say about the Ducati, and most things about the MV were good. Turn off t control and they liked the handling, and they didn't like th MV's display? So what does the display have to do with performance and handling? So they spoke highly of the MV, and had nothing very good to say about the Ducati, and then they chose the Ducati as the best of the two bikes? And then throw both bikes under the bus because they are not as powerful as the bigger bikes? Hey dudes, some people do not want or like super powerful bikes! Their weight and or prices also! Makes me sick. One bike has 1 horse power more than the next bike, or can go 1 MPH faster than another bike in it's class, so the other bike is the biggest piece of crap ever built. Get a life.

Kevin Hart they are biased to Ducati but honestly I love both bikes but if you love your balls and want to have kids someday go with the MV it's much more balls friendly if I had to chose one but if I have money why not both but still the MV will be my daily bike the Ducati is just for Saturday or Sunday haha.

Dude lets be honest here you wont really find the performance and value aspect in a ducati or mv agusta to be competitive that is the Japanese market people buy it for the premium brand and the way it looks to tell you the truth i really dont give a shit which one ride better as long as they are still some how competitive to their class the ducati looks better in my opinion and have more refined electronics as well as better looking display you see this bikes are all about the way they lookfor example the s1000rr is a better bike then a 1199 panigale s no question about that in terms of performance and value in fact most inline 4 super bike is better and faster then the ducati but the panigale comes with the carbon fenders and rear huggers and nice brembo marchesini and ohlins all wrap up with the first every bike with tft display and led headlamps it look drop dead gorgeous and it sounds unique if i blindfolded you would be hard press to tell the different between the sound of s1k zx10r and cbr1000rr but the duc l twin now that is magnificent you i can attest to you as Japanese bike rider myself i traded my z1000 for a panigale 899 tell you the truth the z1k is more relaxing have better power and is easier to live with but the panig just looks so good that i dident regret the trade

Worst of both world's? You boys lack taste and sophistication and are probably more user by the fact that both of these bikes are beyond your budgets

Meh or maybe you guys just not riding them properly?...Duc sux...maybe I've been watching too much MotoGp where Ducati are absolutely, embarrassingly crap...they even made new rules to try and help them compete n they're still nowhere. MV's drop dead sexy with historical race pedigree

You deserve the dislikes. Here's another. Dissing mv is pathetic, easily the nicest looking bikes and rare. Sounds great and powerful too! Clearly biased after been payed!
