I have '95 Roadmaster that is having a little trouble passing NOx. W/ the EGR off the car I can hand vacuum pump it up and it holds as well as when I place it on the car. But, when I let the car idle it wont pump up w/ the hand vacuum. Is there something going on in the intake for this odd behavior? I cleaned the EGR w/ Seafoam before. Thx
There are a couple possibilities. One is that the valve is not opening and needs replacement. The other is that the valve is opening, but passage ways are clogged with carbon and unable to flow any gases.
an easy way to tell if the egr is gone is with a smoke test. hook up a vacuum line and blow some smoke into it. if the smoke leaks out from right under the egr head, its bad.
Should raise the engine about 6 feet out of the water. Okay everyone has vacuum pumps and scan tools. My 2000 5.4 expedition (195k) starts fine, runs a couple mins. then starts with a series of misfires that seem to be controlled with a electrical computer inspired clocked regularity for the next 5 mins. After a total of 10 to 15 mins. she runs perfectly for the duration. What is turning on and off?
