In this lesson, we will delve into the vital concept of triads. By applying this concept effectively, you can craft both simple and captivating melodies that are versatile enough to be played over a variety of harmonic backgrounds. Iconic musicians such as Charlie Parker and Wes Montgomery were adept at utilizing triads to enrich their music, highlighting the importance of this technique. Make sure not to miss out on learning this foundational musical element!

Excellent ideas here Nathan. Worth doing something on triad pairs? I think you did one on this a few years ago when you started.

Yes! That would be a good follow up lesson. I did do one, but I could redo it with better ideas and production!

Some interesting ideas, however, you should point out that when you’re going through through your whole step up half step back pattern, you are using borrowed notes out of other keys, other than C

Hi mark, thanks for your comment. I’m not really thinking of it that way. I’m just thinking of it as an enclosure pattern. These type of chromatic patterns are very common in jazz and are meant to focus on the target not rather than on each note getting there

Hi Nathan, thanks for replying to my comment. I really appreciated your talk about enclosure patterns. I just made the observation I did because it really helped me understand what you were doing, and I thought, ok, he’s not just working off CAGED scales, where everything is related to the key you’re playing in. I appreciated the lesson and your playing.

It’s a phrase that I use on some video thumbnails to draw in viewers. It’s simply a marketing tool. It’s worked very well on pervious videos, so I kept using it. As someone who is actually trying on RU-vid marketing is key. I’m always looking for better ways to package the videos Because I believe my content is worth it. Sorry the thumbnail offend you… but I’d encourage to watch what this video has to offer! Triads are such a useful tool!
