Once Saved Always Saved - Is it biblical?

Defending the Biblical Roots of Christianity

The idea of “once saved always saved” (OSAS) is 100% true, and it’s also completely false! You can find passages in Scripture that support that statement, and others that contradict it. And I believe that’s because this is the wrong question to ask. It misses the nature of biblical faith and salvation. Let's spend a few minutes looking through Scripture to build a basic biblical understanding of the certainty of salvation.

Hey Professor Solberg, I was wondering as a request (as I'm sure you receive many of), if you could discuss in one of your upcoming videos repentance? What is that supposed to look like? How are we as Christians supposed to do that? This is a concept I've been struggling with in my walk with Christ. I know it's supposed to be a turning away from sin (a changing of mind), but how do we differentiate between struggling with sin and still ongoing repetitive sin (despite there are feelings of remorse afterwards)? I know the Bible doesn't teach sinless perfection, so how do we address this and handle it? Thank you!

Repentance is something that happens AFTER Jesus has saved and made spiritually alive one of Gods chosen ones. Fake repentance is what happens to all the fake christians that fill all the apostate churches. They all think it is their repentance that has saved them, that they must live a totally repentant life to be and remain a Christian. The main repentance is in how we think and in what we believe. Those few who are actually saved completely change the way they think and what they believe. They turn form all their unbiblical ignorance and from all their false beliefs and wrong understandings. They do not live a sinless life.

Hey Rob, what do you think about Matthew 6:14-15 ? For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Does this speak against once saved, always saved? And is it considered works to forgive others that sin against you?
@Mikhael1964
@Mikhael1964 2 дня назад
Matthew 6 does not teach that our eternal destiny is based on our forgiving other people,it's not about our Salvation ..however, it does teach that our relationship with God will be damaged if we refuse to pardon those who have offended us. The Bible is clear that God pardons sin by His grace based on Christ’s work on the cross alone, not on man’s actions. Our right standing before Him is established on one thing only-the finished work of Christ (John 3:16; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10). The penalty for the sin that is rightly ours is paid by Christ, and we obtain it by grace through faith, not by any righteous deeds of our own (Ephesians 2:8-9). No one will be able to stand before God demanding that his sins be forgotten simply because he has forgiven others. Only when we are born again and given a new life through God’s Spirit by faith in Jesus Christ are our sins forgiven. Therefore, Jesus is not referring to God’s initial act of forgiveness (reconciliation) that we experienced when we first believed the Gospel. What He is referring to is the day-to-day cleansing we obtain when we confess our sins in order to restore fellowship with our heavenly Father-the fellowship which is interrupted by the daily tarnishing of sin that affects us all. This is not the wholesale cleansing from sin that comes with salvation by grace through faith.. Whether Matthew 6:14-15 is speaking of "relational forgiveness," or whether it is a declaration that unforgiveness is the mark of an unbeliever, the core truth is the same. We should forgive others because God, through Christ, has forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32). It is wrong for someone who has truly experienced God’s forgiveness to refuse to grant forgiveness to others.

I see these as christ has finished his work of salvation on the cross for all mankind, we are being continually being sanctified and refined into the likeness of Christ, and by perseverance in faith we will inherit God kingdom. All of these things have relationships to salvation because they are all results of faith in Christ which is the thing required for salvation. I beleive I am saved by faith, I continue in refinement and sanctification by faith, and I will persevere in by faith toll the end.

To people in the comments stating their "stance" on OSAS & trying to compell me to state my "stance" on OSAS... You can BELIEVE in OSAS & be completely lost. You can NOT BELIEVE in OSAS & be completely saved. The Pharisees (in general) thought they were saved & yet rejected their Messiah. The tax collector (Luke 18:9-14) thought he was unsaved, but it turned out he was saved (unbeknownst to him). Ultimately it is between you & your Savior whether you are saved or not. It is not a matter of policies, statements, doctrinal creeds, etc. Anyone relying on these is standing on shifting sand. Let this heart matter be between you & your Lord only. The thoughts of your mind cannot save you.

The Hebrews passage about "if we continue in sin after receiving knowledge of the truth" refers to Jewish people who reject Christ's sacrifice and instead choose the animal temple sacrifices. Thanks for your vulnerability, NLAS. To me, it comes down to answering this question: "Right now, in this moment, do I trust in Jesus to forgive my sins and accept me into enteral life with Him?" It's a yes or no question. And it's not "Do I _deserve_ forgiveness?" It's "Do I trust in Christ's forgiveness." If our honest answer is "Yes," we are secure. Even if it's "Yes, but..." Or "I'm pretty sure" or "I think so." Even if we have a lot of questions. Even if we screw up and fall short (which we will!). Even if our obedience is less than perfect. If our answer is any version of "Yes, I trust Jesus," He will never let us go, no matter how much we squirm. Our job is simply to believe and trust Him, and He will help us with our faith, He will carry us. Our confidence is in Him, not ourselves. And our faith is strengthened as we focus more on God and what He has done, and less on ourselves and what we might do. When we mess up, we confess and repent and trust in Christ's forgiveness. When we wander away for a time, like the prodigal son, we turn around and head home and trust in Christ's forgiveness. Blessings, Rob

Hi, JS! Yes, I would say that my position on OSAS has evolved and become more nuanced. What I said in that episode is that I would generally answer "yes" to the question "Once a person is saved are they always saved?" But I added that it’s important to understand what that actually means. (Here's a link to the section of that video where I talk about it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1kOumNsC-Fc.html ) I said that when we come to a _genuine_ faith in Jesus, our salvation is secure. It’s not something that can be taken away from us, or that we can sin away, or that requires us to maintain a certain level of performance in order to keep. We are eternally secure if we believe. And that’s because our salvation isn’t based on our inconsistent human behavior, it’s based on God’s unchanging faithfulness. And that's all pretty consistent with what I mentioned in this video. The area where my position has evolved is in the realization that, despite what may or may not be going on "behind the scenes"-and I believe there is room for honest disagreement there-God's Word warns us against falling away, which implies that is a real danger that we need to be aware of and avoid. Jesus said, "The one who endures to the end will be saved." (Matt 24:13). And no one will endure to the end under their own power. God carries us! But the goal of this video is to encourage us to look at faith as a long game, to invest in our ongoing relationship with our Father. Blessings, RLS

@TheBiblicalRoots Hey brother! Thanks so much for answering. Off subject, but I have to say that your content has tremendously blessed me in dealing with loved ones who unfortunately have fallen to Torahism. It seems like such a crime to comment and not thank you for the tireless effort on your part. Thanks for the clarification. I will say your answer still slightly opens a can of worms. True conversation seems to be an identity change and something a true believer will continue to do. (2 Cor. 5:17) (1 John 3:6) 1 John 2:19). Even in John 3:16, the Greek word for "believe" is used in the active present participle tense. It is a statement that true believers are in a continual state of belief. One of the characteristics of the sheep is that they hear his voice, and that they do not follow the stranger's voice. It's not merely a work, but a characteristic of the sheep. The shepherd doesn't lose them. (John 10:1-16) Jesus in another passage makes it His responsibility to keep those the Father has given Him. (John 6:37-40) Even the prophesy about the New Covenant suggests a permanent heart change, not of matter of keeping up with salvation, if you will. He says I will put My fear in them so they will not depart. These are scriptures you've heard of. (Jer. 32:40) (Ezk 36:26). Jesus also makes a bold declaration when He says that in the last days, many will claim to know Him and He will tell them I NEVER knew you. (Mat 7:21-23). Jesus here doesn't suggest He once knew them, which is why I believe the good soil in the parallel of the seed and the sower is the only soil that receives salvation. Scripture sets up this idea of wheat and tares, and I do believe not everyone who confesses belief is actually a wheat. I believe we must live out our salvation thoroughly as the scriptures tell us, but it's not a matter of keeping our salvation. It's a matter of seeking the Kingdom and its righteousness (Matt. 6:33) and being a light in this world. Not out of hearing, but of doing. If a genuine believer could lose their salvation, then many of these promises Jesus makes are void. That means scriptures such as Romans 8:28, Philippians 1:6, Matthew 6:18, Isaiah 55:11 are null and void. Scripture also doesn't suggest that once your sin is nailed to the cross, Jesus will then unscrew for any reason. It's a once and for all action. Jesus is not nailing, then un-nailing repeatedly. Once you're purchased with His blood, pain in full by His sacrifice and stripes, His purchase can't be revoked. When you're born again, you can't become un-born again. When you're a new creation, you can't revert back to the old creation. That's the bigger picture to Hebrews 6. That passage is saying that it's impossible for those who are enlightened to be renewed again if they fall away. Why? Because Jesus only died once and you would have to "cruficy Jesus again." This statement is a hypothetical situation used to explain that the Jews no longer needed to do repeated animal sacrifices in the New Covenant, because Jesus is a once and for all sacrifice. Plus, if you take Hebrews 6 to mean you could lose your salvation, then that means you believe you can't get it back. Lastly, it's generally understood that Matthew 24 is speaking of enduring through the tribulation period, not about enduring for salvation. I don't know where your views on eschatology land, but in Revelation, the church age is not found during the tribulation period. The saints who get saved are there as well as the Jews, but not the church age who are built on the rock. You don't find the church age after Revelation 4. And they don't return until the second coming of Christ. Revelation chapter 22, I believe. Maybe this could be a video topic? Sorry, I didn't plan on writing this super long message. I know you're busy and stewarding the Lord's work well. I'd love to hear your feedback . Thanks for all you do brother.

The problem I see with this issue is that it really only matters to each individual. No amount of outside preaching, teaching, arguing, debating, commentary, policy statements, etc. can change/intervene/influence what occurs between God & that person. I speak from experience when I say that the false convert has no idea they're not saved (unless they're a deliberate infiltrator &/or con artist, but I'm not dealing with that sort of thing here). After all, they (the false convert) raised their hand, went to the front, prayed the prayer, signed the "decision card," got baptized, attended church, participated in communion, etc. etc. - how can anyone possibly say they're not part of the club?! That was my perspective as someone who was railroaded into Christianity by the mom of a childhood friend wielding a "4 Spiritual Laws" pamphlet: See? Here's a picture of two cliffs - you're on one side & God’s on the other - how will you cross over?! Then a cross magically appeared across the divide & the little stick figure was able to happily walk over the cross to God. 🤔 Where did the cross come from? What in the world did it mean? I'd never even read the Bible before! Who was that Jesus fellow & why was I supposed to be so eager to cross an imaginary bridge over to Him? I was just a child & nothing bad had ever happened (yet) - no deaths in the immediate family, no divorces, nothing. To me it came across like something I needed to do to preserve the friendship with the childhood friend (because I'd already seen her reject a classmate who couldn't be persuaded to convert). I had NO understanding of what it was all about & I was so young & naive that I didn't even understand that I was just going along with this clumsily-presented "Gospel" to save a friendship that was important to me. She eventually went away to college, got married, etc. & I saw no more reason to keep up the charade, although I would still tell people I was Christian, because, after all, I had done all the "stuff." It wasn't until middle-age when life came crashing down on me personally & I needed HELP! that I started reading the Bible, which was actually prompted by "accidentally" finding a copy of "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale - book I wouldn't recommend now, but he did consistently plead for people to read the Bible for themselves throughout. His recommendation to start with Proverbs/Psalms + Gospels leading into the Epistles, I still find valuable today. I won't go into my testimony here, but I eventually had a real life crisis where God intervened & I tell you what: When God Himself shows up you don't soon forget it & I quite frankly don't know how you could "fall away" from something like that? I mean, once the divide from "head knowledge" to "heart knowledge" is crossed, there's no going back. I'm not saying there were never times of doubt in the intervening years, but the same God Who showed up when I was first saved just kept right on showing up. I've lost count of the prayers answered & miracles seen & He has truly become my Life, my Love, my reason for being. And now I can look back on my false conversion & the difference between then & now is like night & day! But I can honestly say my falsely-converted self really thought she had become saved by all the "secret handshake" stuff (I'm being sarcastic, but that's what it felt like at the time), even though there was no life change, nor even a DESIRE for life change, let alone not even really understanding what in the heck was going on. So I said all this to say that all the back & forth bickering that goes on about this topic doesn't amount to a hill of beans to the person caught in the limbo of a false conversion. No amount of "persuasive words" can ever move them across the line from false to true - God Himself has got to do it. Until then, all this debate is nothing but shouting into the wind. Come Holy Spirit, blow.

The temporary “belief” that Jesus referred to in Luke 8:13 is a product of the sinful human heart and does *not* result in salvation or the forgiveness of sin. Genuine saving faith is a *free gift of God* which is granted solely to the elect whom Jesus came to save (Eph. 2:8-9; Acts 13:48; 16:14; Rom. 12:3). Salvation does *not* depend upon man’s “free will” decision to muster up saving faith or his continual effort to maintain saving faith. As Scripture declares: “So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy” (Rom. 9:16). Thus, Jesus is not referring to a genuine believer who “loses his salvation” in this parable. He’s referring to the same type of “faith” that Judas professed (a human work of his own sinful nature), that *never* resulted in his genuine reliance upon Christ for salvation. Scripture makes this clear: “For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him” (John 6:64). While Judas professed to believe in Christ, and everyone who knew him considered him to be a believer, Jesus Himself said that all along he was “a devil” (John 6:70) and the “son of perdition” (John 17:12). If Judas would have been granted genuine saving faith by God, then he would have received eternal life, remained faithful, and never perished (John 10:25-30), along with the rest of Jesus’ disciples.

Once saved always saved is the wrong attitude to have. It is not fearful of God nor is one that has the attitude that one cannot lose their faith in him truly relying on God. That is the difference maker. Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail. And he himself made supplication with strong crying and tears in that he feared. He had the right attitude. We must work out our salvation with fear and trembling with the attitude that it is possible to lose our faith in him relying on him to keep us through our faith and obedience. When Jesus talked about the person that causes one of the ones that believe in him to stumble, that word stumble literally implies causing the one that believes in him to lose their faith in him. It only says that in a few translations but those are the ones that are spot on.

Just because someone repeated a prayer one time did not mean they were saved. Many false conversions especially in America where gospel message is so often watered down. When a person is saved they believe in there heart Jesus was raised from dead according to romans. It is saving faith. It is a heart conversion. Those who are saved are born from above are sealed with the Spirit as a deposit become children of God pass from death to life and become a new creation. To "lose" salvation one must lose the Spirit promised by the Father to dwell within us as a promise of our inheritance, go from death to life to death again, go from old creation to brand new creation to old creation again. And be unadopted by God who no longer is your Father and then you stop being his child. None of this makes any senses. A true child of God who falls away for a time the Lord goes after and brings back. My God my Father will never abandon me. Even when I stumble as I grow. I am secure in salvation as I grown in sanctification. Either it is finished our sin past present and future has been paid for or it is yet uncomplete. Jesus said it is finished. Paid in full. Greetings Brother in Christ 🙏. After watching this video , I checked it with scripture ,as taught in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Also I studied the Ante Nicea Church Father's records ( Pre 325ad actual students of the apostles ) on what there writings,letters,Church letters etc,and what they were saying about Eternal Security. And it's basically similar to what you say ,and the Bible says . Indeed , Salvation is a journey, via loyalty etc.. Another point to back this up is..The Words "Faith" and "Belief" back then does not necessarily mean what it does now. The greek word "Pistis' is what we use in the NT translation, translated as "Faith" or "Belief " ,can and does involve; regarding something as true or real. Akin to how we may say:" I have faith that GOD exists", or "my beliefs are different from yours". However the greek word 'Pistis' and related terms have a much broader ranger of meaning. This range includes ideas that are not usually associated in our contemporary culture with '"belief " or "faith",such as reliability, confidence,assurance,fidelity, faithfulness, commitment and pledged loyalty. So the question is,when someone today says; " I am saved by my Faith in Jesus" what portion of the word "Faith" is understood to affect Salvation? Are certain portions of the legitimate meaning of "Faith" being unwittingly shaded out? . In What capacity is Jesus being regarded as the object of " Faith " ? And what mental images surround the process of Salvation? For example, SDA will say all true believers will want to keep Sabbath, and if you don’t and repeatedly ignore the Holy Spirit’s calling you to keep… you have chosen to leave your faith. What “sins” repeatedly done lose your salvation? And how?

One thing he (Reeves) points out about Luther’s concern how easy sanctification can be misunderstood or tuned into a merits based perception that says it maintains one’s justification…. Instead of the natural result of being justified. Being raised in a system that emphasizes this principle in subtle ways - sets one up to hearing those ideas over and over - even when not intended by the speaker. Made me feel better that this confusion has been around a long time.

@@michaelbrutsche75 I believe that is an unhelpful question - as the focus is turned on human nature. I believe what Paul is illustrating is that we are solely saved by Christ and the historical fact of what he did for us. Our works, good deeds and etc are not merits for earning salvation- less we boast and admire our accomplishments. The tension and easily misunderstood aspects- is we are given instructions or commandments on how to follow God. But we are never to confuse our works as meriting us salvation. When we look at each other or ourselves and we begin to measure our change then I think we can easily begin to have pride grab us. The challenge is to experience a changed life at whatever pace it happens to each of us … to have our hearts and minds renewed- yet we praise the Lord for it. Trying to measure yourself.. I believe that can create a warped view - if we are not careful. Love for each other is the main factor and that is looking outside of ourselves…. Not inwardly. My attempt is practical not theoretical. Somehow, the internal perspective- I fear - opens us up to discouragement or pride. So thinking practically we must focus on Christ and others.

Can we not agree that simply put "if you love me you will keep my instructions", and "I am the vine and my father the vinedresser" and again "the wise man built his house on the rocks" and again "not all who say to me Lord Lord will enter into heaven but only those who do the will of my Father" are rather clear statements that seem to emphasize obedience. However, the New Testament makes clear that it's faith God seeks, like with Abraham. But faith, I think, is the driving principle of "obedience", it's the energizing "life-breath" of obedience like what oxygen is to our bodies. In other words, if we truly have faith surely we will live a life accordingly to that sincere and earnest belief. However, I don't know if we are to go so far as to say obedience doesn't matter. I do think James warns of a pure "head-knowledge" faith, where one believes in the mind but doesn't ever act on it. He compares that man to demons who also have faith that God exists but it doesn't do them any good. Paul also talks about the men who twist God's grace into license to sin, he says they *will* be condemned.

Once saved always saved is debunked in the parable of the unforgiving servant. We can be confident in our salvation, but we do not make the judgement, that is reserved for God. Judge nothing until the day of the Lord. On that day some will say to Jesus Lord, Lord and he will reply I never knew you.
@Mikhael1964
@Mikhael1964 2 дня назад
Wrong Sir...It does not teach that our eternal destiny is based on our forgiving other people. Do not be confused here; God’s forgiveness is not based on our works. Forgiveness and salvation are founded completely in the person of God and by Jesus’ redeeming work on the cross. However, our actions demonstrate our faith and the extent to which we understand God’s grace (see James 2:14-26 and Luke 7:47). We are completely unworthy, yet Jesus chose to pay the price for our sins and to give us forgiveness (Romans 5:8). When we truly grasp the greatness of God’s gift to us, we will pass the gift along. We have been given grace and should give grace to others in return. In the parable, we are appalled at the servant who would not forgive a minor debt after having been forgiven his unpayable debt. Yet, when we are unforgiving, we act just as the servant in the parable. Our relationship with God will be damaged if we refuse to pardon those who have offended us. Once again, the Bible is clear that God pardons sin by His grace based on Christ’s work on the cross alone, not on man’s actions. Therefore, Jesus is not referring to God’s initial act of forgiveness .. GOD BLESS 🙏

Of course God is always faithful and merciful, that’s not the problem, the problem is when people keep saying we are human, we will always make mistakes. Jesus came here to show us how to be successful through him by following his example of love, love conquers all, and allows Gods law to replace our heart of stone to a heart of flesh. Jesus loves the Father so much that not one temptation of sin could penetrate him. Ask yourself, do you really love God? If so, he says keep my commandments in your heart as I have kept my Father’s Commandments in my heart. This is how you fulfill the law, through love, the law in itself cannot save you, it’s by letting the law become your nature that saves you, for now you are back in the image of God. God’s greatest work is transforming people back into His image, like many in life and in scripture.

For me when im close to the Lord im fine with the carrot, when im distant and sin is calling loudly i find i need the stick... and scripture clearly teaches you can lose it, what about John 16:6 & even Romans 8:12 & James 1:15 below.. John 15:6 If you do not remain IN me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. v10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love. Rom 8:12-14 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation - but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13 FOR IF YOU LIVE ACCORDING TO THE SINFUL NATURE, YOU WILL DIE; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. James 1:15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; AND SIN, WHEN IT IS FULL-GROWN, GIVES BIRTH TO DEATH. And this is what the early church fathers taught (ad70-320 ish), Calvin went back to Augustine ad400, not the early church fathers whose letters we have... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JzqDV91AFPo.htmlsi=yknzRL20scuKDXah

It reads, “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. The principle applies, though, to anyone who departs from the faith. Anyone who departs from the faith is proclaiming a message that is not true, and is, in fact, opposed to Christ (the essence of the term antichrist). Hi Rob🖐. Ive been thinking a lot on this recently among other things... I know that in my past I had said that I accepted Jesus/Yahusha into my life as my savior and then I later went my own way. I know now that at that time I really had no understanding of Yahusha, no real biblical knowledge and thus a lack of real conviction. I agree with your message here and this is a reaon why Hebrews 6 is so frightening. I believe there isn't enough thought given to whether or not a person truly understands what they are professing when they mouth their dedication to Messiah and/or what their baptism really means. The true weight/meaning of it all. Luke 14: 28-30 being the best summation of this. This is why I don't see the point of baptising children (I truly believe Yah has them if they should perish) and i think it is often misleading for people to be called up to the altar to accept Jesus/Yahusha without a pep talk on the ramifications of such a decision as many of these people are just flirting with the faith (speaking from personal experience). Anyway we know Yah's acceptance and condemnation are both always holy and righteous. No one wants to experience Matthew 7: 22-24. Do you believe that there is a level of understanding (1 Corinthians 3: 2) and conviction that one must reach before being truly held accountable to that pledge? Is there any scripture that you can think of that supports or denies what I'm thinking here? Thanks!🙂🙏

I hear what you're saying, GWR! However, I don't believe that saving faith requires a deep intellectual understanding of theology or the cost. When Jesus speaks of becoming like little children, I believe he's talking about the simplicity of true faith (Matt. 18:3; Mark 10:14; Luke 18:17.) It's not a sophisticated intellectual understanding, it's genuine trust. If our trust and loyalty (faith) in Jesus is genuine, we will do our best to follow Him, whatever the cost. Intellectually, we really just need to understand and believe that we are sinners who can't save ourselves, that God exists, and He sent His Son to pay for our sin and redeem us to the Father. Will there be a cost to following Him? Yes, a steep one! But, in my opinion, sizing up that cost is not a prerequisite to a true saving faith. Blessings! RLS

The level of understanding you talk about is present in this passage: "It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age"... The holy spirit does not dwell on surface scratchers. This cannot be contested since not even Nicodemus, being an old pharisee, was not yet born again at the moment he met with Jesus. Bible does not ever talk about superficial faith as being real faith. I can be wrong about this, but I think baptism is not by water anymore but by a supernatural event, and it happens exactly when you reach real faith (the moment of enlightenment). At least it was so in my case. That's why there are passages saying "Examine yourselves whether you are in the faith; test yourselves" (2 Cor 13:5). People do need to understand this. Remember: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. The presence of the holy spirit WILL push you to read scriptures, abide in His words and give fruits. As much so that people will be able to judge if you have real faith just by looking at the fruits you are giving. That being said, I also believe the book of Hebrews is not for christians, maybe not even for christian backsliders. Anyway, may Yahuah bless you with understanding and eternal life!

Hebrew 6 is a warning meant for hebrews - that means these jewish believers in Christ that had really from the beginning whole true good teachings inclusive the power of the Holy Spirit, hearing the Holy Spirit and were indeed in the true congregation. They knew exactly the true gospel, but it was a fact, that jewish people who was grown up in the Torah have problems with believing grace only by faith, because they had learnt otherwise by the religious Torah rabbis. And in that case where they were persecuted by Jews and the Jews accused them of sinning against God when no keeping the law. So they stood in attemption to believe the lies of the jews and got therefore a bad concious not keeping the law of Moses anymore. The author of the hebrew letter tried to explain, that in opposit to the lies of the Jews it is sin to go back to judaism, and that it would be as though one would cruzify Jesus once more. And that it is impossible then to go back to Jesus again. It has to do with the fact that the Jews said that Jesus's blood was unclean. To agree in that is a great sin. It was indeed the love of God to explain that to the hebrew christians and to keep them from falling in that dark trap of the enemy. But many people today, when they are invited in "churches" they do not get good bible teachings, very much denomination churches do not accept the Power of the Holy Spirit, do not baptize, do not teach about the gifts of the Spirit, much of them do not have the true gospel, do not have the good word of God and do not know the Jesus that is knowen from the bible, they taught instead their own traditions and their own commandments. Even when they gave their life to Jesus in that congregations they lack knowledge and a good foundation. So, it is possible that they do not find the true Jesus in this, that they left the church and begin to doubt if this gospel is true and left Jesus. But then, at some point when they feel lost they cry out to Jesus and begin to believe again, because Jesus chased them and search his sheep. So, never believe Hebrew 6 as a fact for you! Never doubt Jesus's love for you. Instead of trust in the Lord and confess your faith and trust in HIM. He will give you a new start . His grace and mercy is every day new. Believe that he will teach you now through the bible. Believe the good words for believers and confess them out loud. Say Him that you love him. As long as you breathe not give up your new awakened faith in him. It is from him when your faith is awakened new. Hold fast on your confession of your faith out loud to Jesus and to everyone. Confess to others what Jesus has done to save us all. Trust in the Lord, even when your heart condemns you. Confess your trust every hour until your heart knows that you trust in the Lord. Ignore your circumstances, keep on confessing your trust in the Lord. Write down the good words that encourages you and read them out loud. Read books of Kenneth Hagin. God is a loving God. Believe in that Love of God. Even when you fall away from Jesus and at some point of your life do not believed in Jesus anymore because of difficult situations and you began to draw believing people away from believing Jesus, when you feel the longing to go back to Jesus, you begin to believe agan, know that The Holy Spirit has put this longing into you woeing you back to Him. Believe it and confess it and never again let it go. Salvation is not depending on your works. Repent. He will forgive you anything. Peter has withdraw from Jesus. Paul has made mistakes, too. The simple answer to your questions is; Once Saved Always Saved,unless not saved in the first place..Eg; John 2:19 ; “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.” To paraphrase 1 John 2:19: “If anyone departs from the faith, they are demonstrating that they were never truly in the faith, for if they have been of the faith, they would not have departed. The fact that they have departed from the faith explicitly demonstrates that they were never a part of the faith.”..

I don’t know why this is still even a debate. Yes true born again Christians have eternal salvation. But the ones who fall from the faith were NEVER Christians to begin with. If people could simply understand that the majority have fraud faith would make it very clear why many return or stay in willful sin. It’s because they are not working with the Holy Spirit power to overcome sin. They have not crucified their flesh. It’s easy to understand. We are saved from absolutely no works for salvation. But AFTER salvation will bring obedience from their love and gratitude for God. They love God more than their sin, and one forgiven will find it nauseating to go back to what separated them from God to begin with. Many don’t even understand God’s grace and that makes it very dangerous. God’s grace for the willful sinner is only his patience for them to repent and be born again. And God‘s grace for the true convert sanctifies them into holy living. You will know them from their fruit on who is frustrating the grace of God. They will be the ones that defend their sin more than holiness. They will be the ones that Jesus says depart for me workers of iniquity.

..no, I know I was born again and yet I wanted to go off and live my own life because it appeared to be easier... and yet i had experienced the fullness of the Holy Spirit, an amazing supernatural joy that lifted me out of a suicidal depression... ...when i lost my awareness of his presence after a couple of months due to a certain sin and then getting involved with a wacky church that confused me about how to live it... I wanted to go off and live with my boyfriend, did not want to bother with marriage and all that committment.. wanted to live my own life... God did send me warnings... But living it was not automatic... i still had to choose... in galations 5 it says that the flesh wars against the Spirit, it is still a battle.. the church where i got confused taught, once saved always saved and it led me into sin... scripture clearly doesnt teach that, look at the parable of the sower for example.... the early church fathers (ad70-320) didnt teach that, Calvins theology went back to Augustine ad400 which had gnostic leanings... Here is david bercot on what did the early christian fathers teach about salvation. I don't think it's quite that way, even if much of what you say seems on target. I still go back to numerous passages like Colossians 1:22-23. It's evident, at least upon the basic read, that there are many who are legitimately in faith but, for various reasons, fall away from it. That's not the same as "never having been a true believer." 1:22 but now he has reconciled you by his physical body through death to present you holy, without blemish, and blameless before him - 1:23 IF indeed you remain in the faith, established and firm, without shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard.

Jesus discussed the concept of being "born again" during his conversation with Nicodemus, a Pharisee, in the Gospel of John, chapter 3. The key verses are John 3:3-7: "Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.' 'How can someone be born when they are old?' Nicodemus asked. 'Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!' Jesus answered, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’" What Did Jesus Mean by "Born Again"? Spiritual Rebirth: Jesus explained that being "born again" is a spiritual transformation rather than a physical one. It involves a renewal and rebirth through the Holy Spirit. Water and Spirit: The mention of being born of "water and the Spirit" is often interpreted to refer to baptism and the receiving of the Holy Spirit. Water symbolizes cleansing and repentance, while the Spirit signifies new life and regeneration. New Identity in Christ: Being "born again" signifies a fundamental change in identity, moving from a life governed by sin to a new life led by the Spirit. This transformation involves repentance from sin, faith in Jesus Christ, and living according to His teachings. Entering the Kingdom of God: Jesus emphasized that this spiritual rebirth is necessary to "see" or "enter" the kingdom of God, implying that it is essential for salvation and a relationship with God. Implications for Believers Repentance and Faith: The concept of being born again highlights the necessity of repenting from sin and placing faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. Baptism: Many Christian traditions see baptism as an outward sign of this inward transformation and rebirth. Transformation: Believers are called to live transformed lives, reflecting their new identity in Christ through their actions and character. The dialogue between Jesus and Nicodemus illustrates that this new birth is a profound and mysterious work of the Holy Spirit, fundamentally changing a person's heart and life orientation.

Heb 6:4-6 The people described here were not believers. It says that they TASTED salvation. It doesn't say that they took it in and ate it. They were exposed to it and saw the Holy Spirit work for a while but they never took it in and swallowed it. In your example, they never sat in the chair. 1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us. 1 If they are able to leave for good, they weren't really believers. 2 If Jesus said no one can take you out of His hands, YOU can't take yourself out of His hands either.

Really liked this video and thought you did a great job of pointing out those scriptures that seem to contradict each other. The best way I've seen it articulated from OWG is that we were saved from sin during Jesus' 1st coming allowing us to walk transformed allowing us to be ready for His 2nd coming! Refreshing to run into a brother with a burden to wall in a manner worthy until The King returns!!! Titus 2:14 NASB95 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds. 1 John 3:7-10 NASB95 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; [8] the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. [9] No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. [10] By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

Hebrews 9:28 NASB95 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. The 1st salvation was from bondage of sin. Totally unearned (grace). 2nd salvation will require endurance.

I genuinely want to know the pushback people have to what was said in this video Im open for correction The way I see it there’s the openness and understanding of Jesus Christ being our lord and savior , and then the willingness to do his will, or to be transformed. From what I can see while accepting Jesus Christ as your lord and savior is a glorious praise worthy moment. You aren’t instantly transformed into a new being. (Or at least you aren’t perfected) So for one to accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. It seems natural to conclude they want to do bare their cross and do the will the of the father. And knowing that our works will never live up to God standards. Jesus stands in the gaps for us But isn’t it understood that he wants us to sin no more and be transformed? Doesn’t that at least on our part require us to want to kill our flesh or have our minds renewed. Don’t we have an active participation in that process? I’m sure by the end of our fight Jesus will make all whole again but I question once genuine desire to be with the lord if they don’t want to change their current state But again I’m open for correction

All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. This teaching makes salvation seem less and less like a free gift and more like one with strings attached. Is there a scale mentioned in the Bible outlining how many filthy rags (works) I must do or show to keep my free gift of salvation. This teaching seems different than a person being saved to the utmost. If someone says they don't believe the gospel any longer, they never did. If saved, always saved! Well said salvation is God giving us a new life and saving us from the old one only those that walk in the new life will have final salvation Romans 8:12 -14 therefore brothers and sisters we are debtors not to the flesh to live after the flesh for if you live after the flesh you shall die but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you shall live for as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God Galations 5:16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Galations 6:7-8 be not deceived God will not be mocked the one that sows to the flesh will reap corruption but the one that sows to the spirit from the spirit will reap everlasting life 😇

Hmmm… this is a very interesting topic, and it’s definitely not one that everyone is going to agree on. Spiritual warfare is very much alive in everyone. I’ve seen videos of pastors and evangelists who became atheists in various debate videos, though it’s impossible to prove what they ever actually believed. The problem with OSAS is that it implies the loss of free will. Similarly, it also contradicts the Bible’s lessons of staying on the path leading to life and avoiding temptation. Not to mention, many will use it as an excuse to commit sinful acts, and in the worst cases some have even used it to justify suicide.

Thanks for your video, professor Rob! You brought out a good balance for the doctrine of OSAS while maintaining that we are saved by God's grace through faith alone in Christ alone and without diminishing our freewill to commit apostasy by turning away from the living God! But can you give me more clarity that we can't out sin the grace of God? It just seems that we can sin like the devil and still make heaven our home but Jude 4 warns against turning God's grace into immorality by living immoral lifestyles. And, did the apostle Paul warn us that the immoral or wicked will not inherit the Kingdom of God? I'm just hoping you can clear that up for me. Blessings to you and your ministry, brother!
@TheBiblicalRoots
@TheBiblicalRoots Месяц назад
Hi, Paul! You bring up a great point. The phrase "we can't out-sin God's grace" is a little vague. What I'm referring to there is the fact that Jesus' sacrifice covers every single sin, past, present, and future. Our sin is finite, His grace is infinite. And so for those who are "in Christ," we can never out-sin His grace. Our salvation is secure even if we mess up and fall short. At the same time, habitually living in a lifestyle of sin, as Paul describes in Galatians 5:19-21, is evidence that we are not in Christ and, therefore, we will not inherit the Kingdom unless we repent. I believe the NT mentions those kinds of sins because if we profess to believe in Jesus and yet those things are regular part of our lives, we need to check ourselves. If someone truly loves Jesus and finds themselves caught up in those kinds of sins and they come across this passage in the Bible, their conscience will be provoked and their ultimate response will be to repent and turn back to Him; to give their believing loyalty to Jesus rather than those sinful things. However, if they read this list and their rebellious heart says "Don't tell me what to do," or "My sins aren't really wrong," they have made their loyalty known. Blessings! RLS

Nope! In the parable of the soils, believing for a while indicates a change of mind not a change of heart else it would have been a "good soil" which brought forth true fruit of salvation. But only the fourth soil was "good" for salvation. Instead, those who abandoned their faith were able to do so because they had faith that wasn't a saving faith.
