Our biblically-based, Christ-centered apologetic ministry exists to help believers understand and address false teachings. Our mission is to promote biblical literacy (Prov. 7:2), systematically break down teachings that challenge the sufficiency of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5), and lift high His beautiful Gospel. Our goal is to contribute to the intellectual and theological aspects of making disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:19-20) and promote freedom from spiritual bondage (Gal. 5:1) while emphasizing unity in the body of Christ (John 13:35).

Greetings Mr Solberg 🙏..Talking of GODS law. I know the HR,SDA proclaim and follow it . But are you aware of Calvin's beliefs on the issue,in his institutes ? He believed GOD Is still treating mankind as he did on moses law days. Thus in our countries we should be to develop GODS kingdom on earth, and made to live under GODS moral Law as per mosaic 613 laws. Thats both Christians and non alike..So state and Church must work together. He taught Church ministers must closely examine the lives of all who attend their Church to make certain all all are living via GODS law..That the Church expects the state to punish sinners in order to keep ones nation pure and and thereby avoid his wrath! 😮 ! What he proposed was essentially a Christo- Judaism! It still had the mosaic Law (without ceremonies) ,a Church -state, combination ! Yet all that is miles off what Jesus Taught about the Kingdom of GOD .We cannot combine his kingdom with any earthly kingdom,as Jesus Stated; " my kingdom is not of this world,..If my kingdom were of this world , my servants would fight ,so that I should not be delivered to the Jews"..John 18;36.. Just like the fourth century Theologians,Calvin too never saw the contradiction between their teachings and those of Jesus..

Hardened hearts, this morning was my little devotion. I thought it might help a little. Especially in the world we live in today. I take courage because surging Paul’s ministry not only was judaism attacking Christian’s, but also the ruler Nero. Maybe soon we will see history repeat itself but there is hope and the disciples shared that hope in the telling of what Christ has done. To start my study I went to got questions. Org. To better understand the causes and solutions for a hardened heart, it’s important to understand the broad biblical meaning of the word “heart.” The Bible considers the heart to be the hub of human personality, producing the things we would ordinarily ascribe to the “mind.” For example, Scripture informs us that grief (John 14:1); desires (Matthew 5:28); joy (Ephesians 5:19); understanding (Isaiah 6:10; Matthew 13:15); thoughts and reasoning (Genesis 6:5; Hebrews 4:12; Mark 2:8); and, most importantly, faith and belief (Hebrews 3:12; Romans 10:10; Mark 11:23) are all products of the heart. Also, Jesus tells us that the heart is a repository for good and evil and that what comes out of our mouth - good or bad - begins in the heart (Luke 6:43-45). Considering this, it’s easy to see how a hardened heart can dull a person’s ability to perceive and understand. Anyone’s heart can harden, even faithful Christians’. In fact, in Mark 8:17-19 we see Jesus’ own disciples suffering from this malady. The disciples were concerned with their meager bread supply, and it was clear that each of them had forgotten how Jesus had just fed thousands with only a few loaves. Questioning them as to the hardness of their hearts, Christ spells out for us the characteristics of this spiritual heart condition as an inability to see, understand, hear, and remember. Regarding this last criterion, too often we forget how God has blessed us and what He has done for us. Similar to the disciples in this instance or the Israelites wandering in the wilderness, when a new calamity arises in our lives, our hearts often fill with fear and concern. Sadly, this simply reveals to God the little faith we have in His promise to take care of us (Matthew 6:32-33; Philippians 4:19). We need to remember not only the many times God has graciously provided for us in our time of need, but also what He has told us: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews 13:5). Sin causes hearts to grow hard, especially continual and unrepentant sin. Now we know that “if we confess our sins, [Jesus] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins” (1 John 1:9). However, if we don’t confess our sins, they have a cumulative and desensitizing effect on the conscience, making it difficult to even distinguish right from wrong. And this sinful and hardened heart is tantamount to the “seared conscience” Paul speaks of in 1 Timothy 4:1-2. Scripture makes it clear that if we relentlessly continue to engage in sin, there will come a time when God will give us over to our “debased mind” and let us have it our way. The apostle Paul writes about God’s wrath of abandonment in his letter to the Romans where we see that godless and wicked “men who suppress the truth” are eventually given over to the sinful desires of their hardened hearts (Romans 1:18-24). Pride will also cause our hearts to harden. The “pride of your heart has deceived you . . . you who say to yourself, ‘who can bring me down to the ground’ . . . I will bring you down declares the LORD” (Obadiah verses 3-4). Also, the root of Pharaoh’s hard-heartedness was his pride and arrogance. Even in the face of tremendous proofs and witnessing God’s powerful hand at work, Pharaoh’s hardened heart caused him to deny the sovereignty of the one, true God. And when King Nebuchadnezzar’s “heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory . . . until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them anyone He wishes” (Daniel 5:20-21). Accordingly, when we’re inclined to do it our way, thinking we can “go it on our own,” it would be wise to recall what King Solomon taught us in Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” So, what then is the antidote for a heart condition such as this? First and foremost, we have to recognize the effect that this spiritual disease has on us. And God will help us to see our heart’s condition when we ask Him: “Search me O God, and know my heart…see if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24). God can heal any heart once we recognize our disobedience and repent of our sins. But true repentance is more than simply a resolute feeling of steadfast determination. Repentance manifests itself in a changed life. After repenting of our sins, hard hearts begin to be cured when we study God’s Word. “How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart. . . . I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:9-11). The Bible is our manual for living as it is “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). If we are to live life to the fullest as God intended, we need to study and obey God’s written Word, which not only keeps a heart soft and pure but allows us to be “blessed” in whatever we do (Joshua 1:8; James 1:25). Hearts can also become hardened when we suffer setbacks and disappointments in life. No one is immune to trials here on earth. Yet, just as steel is forged by a blacksmith’s hammer, so, too, can our faith be strengthened by the trials we encounter in the valleys of life. As Paul encouraged the Romans: “But we also rejoice in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us” (Romans 5:3-5).

The acts 15 debate was all about circumcision for SALVATION. Gentile nor jews don't need to be circumcised to be saved not in the first century or ever before that time. From Adam, Noah, Abraham, Peter and all the righteous men we read about, not one of them were saved because of circumcision or by keeping any other commandment written in the entire scripture. Every one is saved in the same way, David, Abraham, Noah, Paul and myself are saved by Grace through faith in Messiah. If acts 15 means that it is not nessary for Gentile to keep the Torah, why then give the Gentile commandment from the Torah to keep. Acts 15:20-21 [20]but that we write to them to abstain FROM THINGS POLLUTED BY IDOLS, FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY, FROM THINGS STRANGLED, and FROM BLOOD. [21]For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.” All these 4 things are directly from the Torah of God and 3 of them are food laws. So it still matters what Gentiles eat and drink. Can I drink blood? Can I eat things sacrifice to idols? If what I eat and drink doesn't matter I should be able to eat things sacrifices to idols and drink blood without it being transgression of the law( TORAH)

Oh I'm glad you dealt with these "Torah Psalms" (& I just learned something new! 😊), because I'm sure you know parts of these get quoted by HRM all the time & it's difficult to know how to respond. As a baby Christian I had a habit of reading 1 chapter of Proverbs & 5 Psalms every day & I just kept cycling through them for a couple of years until thoroughly familiar. I took the passages about "the law" to mean the entire Old Testament & certainly didn't come away with the idea that I therefore needed to "keep" the law - just that the law had served its beautiful purpose - so it's helpful to have an idea how to defend against those who now use these same beautiful Psalms as "weapons" to bludgeon people toward HRM 😢

Firstly, I love your teaching style and love of scripture! Such a joy to listen to, and good production. I've noticed your pattern for dealing with being 'under law' and 'under grace' knowing that being 'under' needs to be understood. I think it's not difficult to understand and I'm more interested in why the tendency to avoid this simple nuance... The Roman Empire was primarily a slave society. I've heard estimates of 2/3 of the population was 'under' a 'master'. When we apply that to the Law/Grace issue there seems to be a mental block in the simple understanding of what Paul is saying. The Law of God are eternal... they are spiritual and God writes them on our hearts. God IS Love, His Law is Love! But when it comes to salvation, then our nature alone disqualifies us. So being under law is deadly for us. No one was saved 'under law' not even one. The Author of the Law and the Author of Grace is the Same Author. And He doesn't speak out of both sides of His mouth. To me, as I watch the efforts to avoid the Sabbath (that's what it always comes down to) it's crazy why we do that. Being 'under Grace' has higher demands on me than being 'under law' but I have help and not condemned when I fall short... it's still the same 10 commandments (inside the ark, def of sin) and it's Agape Love. This is a simple issue when seen in that light. To me, why is there such an effort to avoid the 7th day Sabbath and its blessing God so desires for us to receive? I may be off base on that but is my impression as I listen to you and others I respect that are honest Bible scholars. 'The letter kills, the Spirit gives us life...so we walk now in the newness of the Spirit not in the oldness of the letter... the law is spiritual...he that abides in love abides in God and God in him'
@kimartist

I've read your other comments & know you're SDA, which carries a fundamental misunderstanding of the covenants. Yes Jesus is the Author of the Old Covenant/Testament. Then He died, rose again & now we who believe & receive Him in our hearts are under the New Covenant/Testament by faith & can inherit the promises made to Abraham. It's not possible to be under both old & new covenants at the same time; it's like being polygamous - married to two different spouses at the same time - only in this case the first spouse has died.

That was eloquently and gracefully stated, Mr. Webb. Thank you! It is entirely possible that in my efforts to disprove the false theology of Torahism-which I see causing so much turmoil in the body of Christ and leading so many people into a spirit of legalism and slavery-I sometimes overemphasize our Sabbath freedom in Christ. My goal is not to talk anyone out of keeping a seventh day Sabbath. We are free in Christ to do so. But as I read the NT, it is clearly not required (Rom 14; Col. 2:16-17, etc.). That said, I do promote the spiritual practice of setting aside a day to rest in God every week. But I believe the NT teaches it does not need to be kept on a Saturday. I am certainly not perfect and I don't get everything right, but this is where the Scriptural data has led me. FYI My position is stated in some detail in our two-part series on the Sabbath: *A Case for Sabbath-keeping* Part 1 (OT): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jshpDg9gtRk.html Part 2 (NT): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GGMnQcR_AF4.html Blessings! I really like your deep dives. Bishop William Barber is adept at deep dives into these areas, as well. It would be awesome to listen to you both go treasure hunting together through all these old writings. Respectfully, “fear the LORD,” when it should say, “expect to be in true awe of the LORD,” and, “fear the consequences of ignorance of the power of spiritual law on the complexities of your soul,” is an important difference. The obsequious nature to, and the shrewd application of, power to gain obedience through fear in the real world makes the use of the word that barrier between old and new testaments you are grappling with. Tesla demonstrates a qualitatively improved understanding of God and His laws from the perspective of awe when he said, “there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration.” Not particularly groundbreaking, everybody knows what damage fear does to the mind, soul, to understanding and how cynically it is used by ppl in power but I wanted to help drive up your algorithms. Can you talk about, “Praise the LORD?” Everybody says it when they mean to be praising the LORD but saying that isn’t praise. It’s telling everyone else to praise the LORD. The result is, everyone is saying, “praise the LORD” without anyone actually praising the LORD, and that is very confusing. It seems like a pretty big error.

Matt 7:21-23 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. We, as Christians, can only imagine how horrible this will be for those that hear these words spoken to them from our Lord Jesus the Christ. It is obvious that those that Jesus is telling that He never knew them are Christians that have prayed the sinners prayer and have been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. They have worked to tell others of the Gospel and how they can be saved. So, why would Jesus tell them that He never knew them? Matt 15:9 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. I Jn 2:4 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. In the story of creation, it plainly states that on the seventh day He rested. God was not tired from creating all that is, He rested as an example to us and as a gift to us and as an EVERLASTING covenant between us and God. Exod 31:12-17 12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. 14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. Verse 13 says that remembering the Sabbath is a sign between God and man for all of the generations of man where men acknowledge that God is their Lord. Or, said another way, if you do not remember the Sabbath, then, you do not acknowledge that God is your Lord. Verse’s 16 & 17 above tell us that we are to keep the Sabbath FOREVER, BECAUSE IT IS A SIGN BETWEEN GOD AND US FOREVER, indicating that He is our God and that we are His children. Jesus spoke of this in the following scriptures, which not only say that there are not, and will not be any changes to the commandments, but also, that breaking any one of the commandments is the same as breaking all of the commandments. The jot and tittle mentioned in verse 18 is dotting the “I’s” and crossing the “T’s”. Incidentally, Jesus did not come to fulfill the law as some preachers will tell you, He came to fulfill the prophecies that foretold of His coming. You cannot fulfill the law, you can only choose to either obey it or to disobey it. Matt 5:17-19 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. The following is proof, from the writing’s of Paul in The New Testament, that the Sabbath was not changed by or with the permission of Jesus the Christ or His Disciples. The “them” that is mentioned below are those that were led out of Egypt by Moses and are written about in Hebrews, Chapter 3. Heb 4:1-12 1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest (salvation), any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest (salvation), as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest (salvation): although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest (salvation). 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if Jesus had given them rest (a different Sabbath day), then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest (Sabbath) to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest (salvation), he also hath ceased from his own works (observed the Sabbath), as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest (salvation), lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Verse 8: There is verification that Jesus did not change the Sabbath day, saying that if Jesus would have changed the Sabbath, then, He would have told us. In verse 9, it plainly states that the day of rest (the Sabbath) remains as God made it in the beginning and that we are to continue to keep the Sabbath Galatians 3:26-29 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Ecclesiastes 12:13 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

What does the Talmud say about Jesus? 🤔
@TheBiblicalRoots
@TheBiblicalRoots День назад
Funny you should ask. I've done a bit of study in this area. It is important to note that the Talmud's references to Jesus are often ambiguous and were written in a context of significant tension between early Christians and Jews. The Talmud was primarily compiled between the 3rd-6th centuries CE when the growing Christian religion was spreading and differentiating itself from Judaism. The Talmud doesn't refer to Jesus directly by the name "Jesus" but uses various names and titles, such as "Yeshu," "Ben Stada," or "Ben Pandera." Scholars debate whether all these references point to the same historical figure. Some passages (e.g. Sanhedrin 67a) suggest that Jesus' birth was illegitimate. The text speaks of "Yeshu ben Pandera," implying that Jesus was born to Mary and a Roman soldier named Pandera. And in Sanhedrin 43a, there's a reference to a person named Yeshu who was executed because he practiced sorcery and led Israel astray. This is often interpreted as an allusion to Jesus. That same passage describes the execution of Yeshu on the eve of Passover. This aligns with the New Testament account of Jesus' crucifixion, though the reasons for the execution differ, focusing more on sorcery and leading Israel astray rather than theological reasons. he Talmud also mentions Jesus' disciples and refers to his teachings as leading people astray from traditional Jewish beliefs. These references highlight conflicts between early Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism. Jesus is also portrayed in some Talmudic passages as a sorcerer who performed miracles through magic rather than divine power, which is obviously a direct challenge to the Christian understanding of Jesus' miracles. Shalom! RLS

What about these reasons that I have heard. 1. Because Satan is the god of this world. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Christ will return and remove him in the second coming, so he is still there now and "deceives the nations", this is why there is still so much evil in the world. 2. Satan used Simon the sorcerer (Acts 8) to start a false gospel of lawlessness. 3. This is the GREAT whore. In other words, the majority, not the minority, as then it would not be great. And its daughters are other Sunday keeping churches.

I would like you to apply your "we don't see Abraham keeping all of the Torah in the text" (~32:00) to the life of Christ. Does anything in the NT state he observed every specific command from the Law of Moses? No. Does it say he lived and followed God's law and we assume that he followed every applicable command from the Law of Moses? Yes. Where is your consistency?
@TheBiblicalRoots
@TheBiblicalRoots День назад
That's fair, Cade. The reason we say Jesus kept every old covenant command required of Him is because the NT tells us He was (a.) "born under the law" (Gal. 4:4), and (b.) sinless: “He committed no sin and no deceit was found in His mouth” (1 Pet. 2:22). So, Jesus was a Jewish man who was born, lived, and died under the old covenant law and committed no sin. By contrast, Abraham lived and died centuries _before_ the old covenant and it's law were given at Sinai. Blessings, RLS

Alright I'll work with this. So now that we've established that it's 'under the Law' as opposed to Paul's interpretation of that as being 'under the curse of the Law', but that doesn't mean you get to just walk away with that distinction made. Now you have to wrestle with the questions: what does it mean to be under the Law? And why did Paul call being under the Law a 'curse'? It's because he understood that trying to fulfil the Old Covenant Law is literally impossible for any man, and there's only one person who was able to fulfil it perfectly, the Son of Man Jesus who is called Christ!

Hi, King! If you listen carefully to my videos, you'll notice that I teach and promote obedience to God's commandments for us. As I said in this video: "The Torah remains a beautiful and fundamental part of the Christian faith. The question isn’t whether the Torah is relevant or whether it has any enduring authority as God-breathed Scripture. It *_is_* relevant and it *_does_* have authority in our lives! But the question is this: What is the proper biblical _application_ of the old covenant laws under the new covenant?" I’m sure you would agree that not every command God has given applies to every person at all times. Some only apply to certain people (i.e., men, women, parents, Levitical priests) or at certain times (i.e., building an ark, gathering manna, while in exile). And I’m sure you would also agree that we are each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us. The NT expressly teaches that many of the commands given under the Old Covenant Law do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required (Heb 10:18).) We still serve God and obey His commands, “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6). And “If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law: (Gal. 5:18). RLS

Thanks professor. Law vs. grace-why is there so much conflict among Christians on the issue? translate video Law vs grace audio ANSWER One person says, “Salvation is by grace and grace alone.” Another person counters, “That idea leads to lawlessness. God’s righteous standard in the Law must be upheld.” And someone else chimes in with, “Salvation is by grace, but grace only comes to those who obey God’s Law.” At the root of the debate are differing views on the basis of salvation. The importance of the issue helps fuel the intensity of the discussion. When the Bible speaks of “the law,” it refers to the detailed standard God gave to Moses, beginning in Exodus 20 with the Ten Commandments. God’s Law explained His requirements for a holy people and included three categories: civil, ceremonial, and moral laws. The Law was given to separate God’s people from the evil nations around them and to define sin (Ezra 10:11; Romans 5:13; 7:7). The Law also clearly demonstrated that no human being could purify himself enough to please God-i.e., the Law revealed our need for a Savior. By New Testament times, the religious leaders had hijacked the Law and added to it their own rules and traditions (Mark 7:7-9). While the Law itself was good, it was weak in that it lacked the power to change a sinful heart (Romans 8:3). Keeping the Law, as interpreted by the Pharisees, had become an oppressive and overwhelming burden (Luke 11:46). It was into this legalistic climate that Jesus came, and conflict with the hypocritical arbiters of the Law was inevitable. But Jesus, the Lawgiver, said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17). The Law was not evil. It served as a mirror to reveal the condition of a person’s heart (Romans 7:7). John 1:17 says, “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” Jesus embodied the perfect balance between grace and the Law (John 1:14). God has always been full of grace (Psalm 116:5; Joel 2:13), and people have always been saved by faith in God (Genesis 15:6). God did not change between the Old and New Testaments (Numbers 23:19; Psalm 55:19). The same God who gave the Law also gave Jesus (John 3:16). His grace was demonstrated through the Law by providing the sacrificial system to cover sin. Jesus was born “under the law” (Galatians 4:4) and became the final sacrifice to bring the Law to fulfillment and establish the New Covenant (Luke 22:20). Now, everyone who comes to God through Christ is declared righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18; Hebrews 9:15). The conflict between Jesus and the self-righteous arose immediately. Many who had lived for so long under the Pharisees’ oppressive system eagerly embraced the mercy of Christ and the freedom He offered (Mark 2:15). Some, however, saw this new demonstration of grace as dangerous: what would keep a person from casting off all moral restraint? Paul dealt with this issue in Romans 6: “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” (verses 1-2). Paul clarified what Jesus had taught: the Law shows us what God wants (holiness), and grace gives us the desire and power to be holy. Rather than trust in the Law to save us, we trust in Christ. We are freed from the Law’s bondage by His once-for-all sacrifice (Romans 7:6; 1 Peter 3:18). There is no conflict between grace and the Law, properly understood. Christ fulfilled the Law on our behalf and offers the power of the Holy Spirit, who motivates a regenerated heart to live in obedience to Him (Matthew 3:8; Acts 1:8; 1 Thessalonians 1:5; 2 Timothy 1:14). James 2:26 says, “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” A grace that has the power to save also has the power to motivate a sinful heart toward godliness. Where there is no impulse to be godly, there is no saving faith. We are saved by grace, through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). The keeping of the Law cannot save anyone (Romans 3:20; Titus 3:5). In fact, those who claim righteousness on the basis of their keeping of the Law only think they’re keeping the Law; this was one of Jesus’ main points in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:20-48; see also Luke 18:18-23). The purpose of the Law was, basically, to bring us to Christ (Galatians 3:24). Once we are saved, God desires to glorify Himself through our good works (Matthew 5:16; Ephesians 2:10). Therefore, good works follow salvation; they do not precede it. Conflict between “grace” and the “Law” can arise when someone 1) misunderstands the purpose of the Law; 2) redefines grace as something other than “God’s benevolence on the undeserving” (see Romans 11:6); 3) tries to earn his own salvation or “supplement” Christ’s sacrifice; 4) follows the error of the Pharisees in tacking manmade rituals and traditions onto his doctrine; or 5) fails to focus on the “whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). When the Holy Spirit guides our search of Scripture, we can “study to show ourselves approved unto God” (2 Timothy 2:15) and discover the beauty of a grace that produces good works. @kevinprokopich1083

@@king_____geo273 What is the difference between the ceremonial law, the moral law, and the judicial law in the Old Testament? translate ceremonial law audio ANSWER The law of God given to Moses is a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that the Israelites' behavior reflected their status as God’s chosen people. It encompasses moral behavior, their position as a godly example to other nations, and systematic procedures for acknowledging God’s holiness and mankind’s sinfulness. In an attempt to better understand the purpose of these laws, Jews and Christians categorize them. This has led to the distinction between moral law, ceremonial law, and judicial law. Moral Law The moral laws, or mishpatim, relate to justice and judgment and are often translated as "ordinances." Mishpatim are said to be based on God’s holy nature. As such, the ordinances are holy, just, and unchanging. Their purpose is to promote the welfare of those who obey. The value of the laws is considered obvious by reason and common sense. The moral law encompasses regulations on justice, respect, and sexual conduct, and includes the Ten Commandments. It also includes penalties for failure to obey the ordinances. Moral law does not point people to Christ; it merely illuminates the fallen state of all mankind. Modern Protestants are divided over the applicability of mishpatim in the church age. Some believe that Jesus’ assertion that the law will remain in effect until the earth passes away (Matthew 5:18) means that believers are still bound to it. Others, however, understand that Jesus fulfilled this requirement (Matthew 5:17), and that we are instead under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2), which is thought to be "love God and love others" (Matthew 22:36-40). Although many of the moral laws in the Old Testament give excellent examples as to how to love God and love others, and freedom from the law is not license to sin (Romans 6:15), we are not specifically bound by mishpatim. Ceremonial Law The ceremonial laws are called hukkim or chuqqah in Hebrew, which literally means “custom of the nation”; the words are often translated as “statutes.” These laws seem to focus the adherent’s attention on God. They include instructions on regaining right standing with God (e.g., sacrifices and other ceremonies regarding “uncleanness”), remembrances of God’s work in Israel (e.g., feasts and festivals), specific regulations meant to distinguish Israelites from their pagan neighbors (e.g., dietary and clothing restrictions), and signs that point to the coming Messiah (e.g., the Sabbath, circumcision, Passover, and the redemption of the firstborn). Some Jews believe that the ceremonial law is not fixed. They hold that, as societies evolve, so do God’s expectations of how His followers should relate to Him. This view is not indicated in the Bible. Christians are not bound by ceremonial law. Since the church is not the nation of Israel, memorial festivals, such as the Feast of Weeks and Passover, do not apply. Galatians 3:23-25 explains that since Jesus has come, Christians are not required to sacrifice or circumcise. There is still debate in Protestant churches over the applicability of the Sabbath. Some say that its inclusion in the Ten Commandments gives it the weight of moral law. Others quote Colossians 2:16-17 and Romans 14:5 to explain that Jesus has fulfilled the Sabbath and become our Sabbath rest. As Romans 14:5 says, "Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." The applicability of the Old Testament law in the life of a Christian has always related to its usefulness in loving God and others. If someone feels observing the Sabbath aids him in this, he is free to observe it. Judicial/Civil Law The Westminster Confession adds the category of judicial or civil law. These laws were specifically given for the culture and place of the Israelites and encompass all of the moral law except the Ten Commandments. This includes everything from murder to restitution for a man gored by an ox and the responsibility of the man who dug a pit to rescue his neighbor’s trapped donkey (Exodus 21:12-36). Since the Jews saw no difference between their God-ordained morality and their cultural responsibilities, this category is used by Christians far more than by Jewish scholars. The division of the Jewish law into different categories is a human construct designed to better understand the nature of God and define which laws church-age Christians are still required to follow. Many believe the ceremonial law is not applicable, but we are bound by the Ten Commandments. All the law is useful for instruction (2 Timothy 3:16), and nothing in the Bible indicates that God intended a distinction of categories. Christians are not under the law (Romans 10:4). Jesus fulfilled the law, thus abolishing the difference between Jew and Gentile "so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross…" (Ephesians 2:15-16). Taken from got questions.org You may keep the teachings of Mr. Singer. Who by the way isn’t a scholar.

What are the 613 commandments in the Old Testament Law? translate video 613 commandments audio ANSWER The number 613 is often cited as the number of commandments in the Old Testament Law; however, there is no verse in the Bible that gives 613 as the correct enumeration. There are other counts as well. There is no universal agreement among Jews or Christians that there are exactly 613 laws given by God through Moses. In any calculation of the number of commandments in the Mosaic Law, complications arise. For example, if a command occurs in Exodus and is then repeated in Deuteronomy, does that count as one commandment or two? Further, some commandments can be understood as clarifications of other commandments rather than additional commandments. There is some debate as to who first came up with 613 as the number of commandments. The Talmud points to Rabbi Simlai in the 3rd century AD as the originator. However, there is no record of Rabbi Simlai listing all 613 commandments. The most commonly accepted breakdown was done by Maimonides in the 12th century AD. Maimonides further divided the 613 commandments into positive, “do this” commandments, numbering 248, and negative, “do not do this” commandments, numbering 365. Biblically speaking, whether or not 613 is the correct count is not that important. The purpose of the Law was to point us to Christ. Galatians 3:24 says, “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith” (NKJV). No one can perfectly obey all the commandments, no matter how many or few there are (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23). In fact, no one can even perfectly obey the Ten Commandments. The Law makes our sinfulness evident (Romans 7:7). God gave the Law to define sin and demonstrate our need for a Savior. Jesus is the only one who has perfectly obeyed the Law. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He fulfilled all of God’s righteous commands (Matthew 5:17-18). For more information on how faith in Jesus saves us from the condemnation of the Law, please read our article “What does it mean that Jesus saves?” Below is a list of the 613 commandments found in the Old Testament Law. Note that some verses contain more than one command: taken from got questions.org. You can see the list there under the 613 commandments. Plus if you have a question you can submit it there, just follow the guidelines. Note the rabbinic traditions and men, are at odds as it was in the early life of Christianity. So this is all in Gods sovereignty. Which on got questions.org is also covered. Mr. Singer and those like him defend Judaism according to their writings. Just like the professor here defends the writings of the church fathers. So this won’t be easily debated between both parties. Someone will have to pick a side to land on.

The Core 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets. Matt 22:37-40 (KJV) “with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” means that the first commandment is to be obeyed under all circumstances. And this love of the first law is “to love (in a social or moral sense) -Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary”, it means to do the right thing. And who is God that we are to love no matter the circumstance? ...and the Word was God […and the Law was God]. John 1:1 (KJV). God’s word is law (rules, ethics, morals, principles,) Matt 4:4. Man must coexist to survive. To coexist we must have laws to protect the rights of all. God gave us laws that would allow us to do just that, live, IF adhered to. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21:33 (KJV). Let’s face it the laws that we choose to govern by are not working no matter where you live at in this world. It is not enough to just to confess that you believe in the [fairy tales] fables 1 Tim 1:4 (KJV) (the leaven of today’s teachers). You can’t judge the world nor angels 1 Cor 6:2-3 (KJV) unless you know the right laws to judge by. And it is not enough to just know the letter of the law, 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. Ex 20:14 (KJV), but you need to know why they are laws and what happens if disobeyed. 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matt 5:28 (KJV). You need to take it to heart and know that adultery causes strife, contention, and disturbs the peace of all involved and tempts others to do the same. One who loves their neighbor as themself would not want to disturb their neighbor’s peace, they are not ruled by law but by love. Those that “don’t” only because they are told “thou shalt not” easily fall to temptation because there is no conviction and are ruled by law and are condemned by law. Those that are sincere in their want for peace and truth are drawn to God because that is what God is, peace IN truth, 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:… John 6:44 (KJV) and 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. …10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:8-10 (KJV) This is what Jesus and the New Testament do, they teach the true meanings and principles of the laws that are in the Old Testament, “the spirit of the law”. Being washed in the blood of the lamb means to learn and follow the true meaning of God’s laws, especially through trials and tribulations, (which is the chastisement of God, thereby showing his love for his children, 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Heb 12:6 (KJV)). That blood washing also being present for those who were sincere in their walk with God since the creation of mankind, hence: 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Heb 13:8 (KJV) and 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58 (KJV). The prophets, which includes Jesus, died BECAUSE of our sins. We (mankind) were ignorant, and our leaders were greedy, and their deeds were in darkness, and they killed the prophets because they brought those deeds to light. Jesus laid down his life FOR our salvation (John 10:17-18 (KJV)) by his blood, 20 …This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. Luke 22:20 (KJV) that was shed for the bringing of the New Testament (true meaning to laws), this is why it said that Jesus is the only way to salvation. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. Heb 9:16 (KJV). And he followed those laws as an example for us to follow, being a man and not God, showing us how to live according to the word in the flesh. 21 … because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an EXAMPLE, THAT YE SHOULD FOLLOW HIS STEPS: … 1 Peter 2:21-24 (KJV). Jesus was a man primed and groomed to be our master, high priest, and the mediator between us and God. 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he BECAME the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Heb 5:8-10 (KJV). 14 Seeing then that we have a great HIGH PRIEST (not God), that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but WAS in all points TEMPTED (in contradiction to 13 … for God CANNOT be tempted with evil, …James 1:13 (KJV)) like as we are, yet without sin. Heb 4:14-15 (KJV). Two separate wills mean two separate beings. 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42 (KJV) And 30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. John 5:30 (KJV) And 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 1 Cor 15:28 (KJV) {By principle of this; 14 … For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14 (KJV) Jesus’ life and sacrifice can be likened to less than a finger prick if he is THE God, for God is eternal.} Take a good look at the world and you can plainly see that sin (crime) causes nothing but pain and death. To nutshell it, unless you do your very best by your love and faith to put God (the word) before all else you are not worthy of the protection that the word (law) facilitates, Matt 10:37 (KJV). And make no mistake God will not jeopardize the peace of heaven for no one. 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. Rev 21:27 (KJV) May God have mercy on his children. Amen P.S. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. … 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. John 14:15-21 (KJV) And 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. James 5:20 (KJV) And 8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 (KJV) To be saved you not only have to believe in Jesus, but you must believe his testament that he signed off on with his own blood. “If you love me keep my commandments”. Salvation is free to all and cannot be bought (grace), but once you accept this “grace” the bible (KJV) tells us we are to work out our own salvation by the works of our faith without wavering and not to willfully sin. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. James 1:27 (KJV)
