Hello everyone! This week I sang Once Upon A December from Anastasia.
Today we kickoff the year of redoing covers! You have all been incredibly supportive about me putting my covers on music sharing sites like Spotify and Apple Music and now we’re getting to the big boys. I’m working with a few composer and arranger friends to make this happen. I’ll be reworking and rerecording a good chunk of my popular covers (yes, that even means Hellfire and Prince Ali) to have them up on those nice streaming and downloading services.
There are going to be some repeat uploads in the next little while because I want to give everyone a way to listen to these songs but I always love seeing progression in peoples covers, so maybe you folks will as well.
And also a massive thank you to Billy, not only a great friend but an absolute BEAST to work with. You will be hearing lots from him in this adventure as well.

Hey, I'm probs late but I wanted to share the warm up we used to do back in my choir group in Japan. What we usually do is a few sit ups and squats, to belt out you really need that gut strength my teacher used to say. After those we had a little exercise where we lie down with just our feet raised at a slight angle then we sing twinkle twinkle little star. Whenever you need belt out or sing a higher note I suggest you imagine a ball getting thrown out from your stomach (sounds weird but trust me it works lmao) I also recommend the vocal training where you sing a higher and higher note or a lower and lower note, hope I helped :>

Personally, it just has this really weird schism between the more historical drama aspects and bouncing bugs backing up a lich Rasputin that makes the whole thing feel just plain bizarre. The Broadway version works a lot better since it replaced an undead Orthodox priest with a staunched communist official and grounded the whole thing a little more.

This movie was actually based on a time where Hitler was still alive and kickin. In Russia, after Vladimir Lenin died, Stalin rose to power. Much Like Hitler, thousands were killed in concentration camps or on the spot. Mostly because they complained of the Dictator. Tsar Nicholas ii had been trained little and hadn't tooken charge over Bloody Sunday and other things, which didnt help when he was forced to abdicate and later be executed with his family. During that time there were rumors that Princess Anastasia had survived the execution, and many had started to claim that they were the lost princess. However, Anastasia had NOT survived, and with her hands over her head crouched against the wall with her sister Maria, she had been shot down with the rest of her family. ________________________________ There may be some details missing, but its just something to know. For someone randomly thinking what happened and finding this comment

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a great week! If you didn't have a chance to read the description, I'm gonna be re-covering some older songs and have them published onto music streaming sites like Spotify and Apple Music (or whatever service you use, I don't judge). Over the next little while there are gonna be some reposts, though mostly songs 2+ years old. *facts about the dogs that were with anastasia's family during their execution:* the romanovs carried 2 dogs with them to the ipatiev house, where they were executed. tatiana's (anastasia's second older sister) english bulldog ortipo, and alexei's (her only brother and youngest sibling) cocker spaniel joy. ortipo was given to tatiana by a soldier she had a crush on, and it followed her everywhere. joy was given to alexei when he was younger to make him feel like he had a normal childhood while he suffered from hemophilia. at the ipatiev house, ortipo preferred to stay inside and be with the family. joy was too energetic to stay in house arrest with the family so surprisingly, the bolsheviks allowed them to let joy out at night. joy would always roam the streets and come back in the morning. fast forward to the night of their execution, the family, their few close servants, and their doctor were awoken around midnight to get ready to "leave". that night, joy was out on one of its adventures, and the bolsheviks made the romanovs leave ortipo out of the basement, where they would be executed. the gunshots from the officers and the screams from the family stirred up ortipo and it barked upstairs through the execution. after the bolsheviks had finished executing the family, they went outside to get things ready to dispose of their bodies. ortipo made its way to the basement and found its family killed. when the bolsheviks came back, ortipo barked louder than before and bit some of the bolsheviks. they shot ortipo and later threw its body in the family's mass grave in the forest. by the morning when joy would return, the romanovs, ortipo, and their servants' bodies were already gone. joy stayed around the ipatiev house and later roamed the streets. a bolshevik soldier that had worked at the romanovs' home palace before the revolution recognized it and took it in. later, joy was brought to the king of england, anastasia's father's cousin and close friend. joy, the only survivor of the romanov execution at the ipatiev house, spent the rest of its days depressed in england. after its death, it was buried in england's royal pet cemetery. today, there is a car park (parking lot) over the royal pet cemetery.

This actually made me cry when I heard it. I haven't heard this song in so many years. I would always sing the soundtrack of Anastasia with my grandmother, she made me who I am today. But now she's in the hospital with cancer, only a year to live, and we can't see her because of corona. Tysm for bringing back the memories.

@@monilyn, my mom had cancer. At the end she died. I cried a lot, like, A LOT. Even while writing this. My mother was Russian, so we loved watching Anastasia together and discuss the lore and stuff. I can say - even if the person is dead, they’re not completely dead without memories left by them. I still hope you grandma will feel much better soon, cause I know how desperate it feels. The only thing you shouldn’t feel - is fear. Fear doesn’t help and emotionally makes a sick person feel much worse. You should hope and stay alive, keeping her memories of the person you loved.

From kindergarten to 2nd grade, I had a best friend named Aniya. She told me about a movie where there was a girl named little Anya who got hit by a train and lost her memory and how it was her favorite movie because the girl had the same name as her. The hit by a train part made me too scared to watch it (ironic now) so I never looked into it. She moved away and I started forgetting about her until I saw Anastasia. I loved it a lot and I remember thinking about the movie one day and just remembering what Aniya said and how this was the movie she told me about and now watching it makes me feel kinda connected even though I haven’t seen her in years. So thank you for your cover Anna it brings memories back

This version of the song is like a girl coming to her home and walking into the ballroom and remembering dancing with her family and her crushes family and her dancing with her crush before something like a war happened and she remembers being happy and giggling not knowing the horrific thing to come being blissfully ignorant of it and the girl remembering this dance and singing this song while trying not to cry her heart out like she trying to keep it together. (Yes I know this is very similar to the Anastasia scene where this song is from)

a few weeks ago i started listening to this cover on repeat, its so good, and in the end i watched the movie. When i had to do a solo for musical theater i chose to do this song for it. It went really well and i have you to thank for it because i thought the original was "too high" for me but hearing you sing these songs and having a similar range as you always gives me some kind of hope that i can sing them to. I know i am late with this comment, but as a Russian i so proud that this movie and this song exist. I know, it's not really an accurate movie from the point of view the history, but i always will be proud that my country interested in foreigners!

Last year in like November I went and saw the musical of Anastasia. I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE!!!! I loved It. I wouldn't stop talking about it for weeks. I cried seven times during the whole thing. I usually only cry once at the end of things, but NO SEVEN TIMES. SEVEN!!! I loved it and still do. I ESPECIALLY LOVED it when they sang Once Upon A December. The dancing and how they did was just soooooo very beautiful. One of times I cried was when watching them do Once Upon A December. After we finished watching it we went outside and my mom bought me the soundtrack. When I got home I went on RU-vid and went crazy with Anastasia everything. Though I was greatly disappointed with how little there was. But I ran into your covers. I loved them. I remember I stopped watching one early because I cried and the emotion was too much for me. Or in other words it brought happy tears to my eyes. and Your voice is really beautiful, and spectacular, and I could fall asleep to it(pretty sure I have). I'm glad I am able to listen to it.

My school just finished our production of Anastasia and it has changed my life, being with my theatre family and taking a journey to the past together has forever moved me. This song in particular will stay with me forever and I absolutely love this cover.

This song was one of my favorites when I was younger. I’ve always been a sucker for waltzes. I haven’t heard this song in a while though, so as soon as the first note played, all emotions came to the surface. Your voice is stunning, and yeah, your cover brought a tear to my eye. Simply beautiful. Thanks for this :)

This is making me have so many memories from when I was younger, I never watched the movie but it takes me back to when Christmas came around and when I went to my grandparents house, we would listen to Christmas music and drink hot chocolate 🥰, And your voice is so calming in this Thanks for bringing back the memory for me Anna, if I ever make something with this song, I’ll be sure to mention you so you can see it

The first time I heard the first cover, I was singing it with her on loop for hours. This time, my heart broke open and I could feel a wonderful ( in a strange way, as poetic as that sounds truly) pain in my chest while lulling my head along with the song. I was so over filled with so many different positive emotions you have no idea how much i needed this today XD . This recover is so beautiful Anna, you've gotten so much better.
