So in the previous Once Upon a December cover, you got a score of 9/10 from me. Let's see how you did here. Vocals are spot on, let's get that right. You did nail the notes, phrasing, lyrics, etc. right on the money. However, the overall mix isn't refined enough, it's as though the vocals aren't really "locking in" well with the backing track. Now, this doesn't mean that your vocals are off-time per se; however, the vocals just don't meld in well with the overall audio mix. It's the sign of someone who decided to just mix the vocals, bring up the backing track and then call it a day. If the Anastasia cover had the problem where the vocals overpowered the mix, this one has the exact opposite problem - it's not refined enough, and in the last part, the choir just completely overpowers the vocals. When I listen to covers that are produced in a studio mix, I listen for balance and harmony. Every element has to fit in well with just the right amount of dynamics, and assuming you were the one who mixed and mastered the cover, you failed to do that. What a shame...this cover had the makings of a near-perfect 9.5/10, but then you didn't refine the overall mix enough. For me, it's an 8.5/10.
