I think it makes sense if we see Rumple as an addict, which he kinda is. He was forced to live without his power for a while, believing that he won’t ever get it back, so the rational thinking was expected, but as soon as an opportunity to try the power drug again came by… Especially now, when he’s back to full health and doesn have to die anytime soon because of the Darkness… Well, you get the drill. It’s not that easy to fight an addiction, it takes more than just a little character development. Way more, unfortunately.

@@АнастасияАгаркина-й3э True, but real-life addicts don't have their hearts magically cleansed. Rumple's glowed bright white in 4x22, and Emma referred to him as a blank slate in 5x04. So while IRL addicts can indeed relapse, to me it still doesn't make sense for what they had built this character into over the past 11 episodes.

Because that's his true nature. While he's not absolute evil, he loves his family and can be heroic at times, he still loves power over everything else. The whole episode was about who you wanna be despite previous and current decisions, and it showed that Killian wanted to be a good man, while Rumple will always want the power 🤷‍♀

​@theadamabrams i wrote a different ending to make myself feel better. He and belle found a way for them to rescue hook. They found that a dark one is the only 1 who can bring it back. They found a way for rumble to be the dark one only temporary enough to bring him back. Once he leaves the Underworld, the power is gone for good. But. He managed to do what Merlin knows might never happen. He found a way to use the darkness without corrupting him, thus making him the character he was in season 7.

the entire dark swan storyline (aka s5A) only works if you're watching it for the first time. the reveals are too shocking and ofcourse you root for captainswan. but the more you rewatch it (with exception of merida's story) everything falls apart. Like the fact that trying to save hook's life by tethering him to the sword cause emma loves him and can't live w/o him turns her full "evil". but going to the underworld to save hooks life by tethering him to a piece of her heart cause she loves him and can't live without him turns emma back into the savior. the entire thing with rumple turning into the dark one again. ik he has a thing with loopholes but its is ridiculous atp. the fact that hook was so scared for the darkness to be attached to him (again) that he'd revert to his evil self but NOT ONCE did he feel the temptation of doing anything remotely bad or hear voices of the dark ones in his head or even unconsciously making bad choices or hurting people. but the moment he gets his memories back he goes full theatre villain and just turns on emma. WHO btw while still being the dark one is suddenly all reasonable and good again. Maybe they should've just taken away s1 regina's memories, rumple's memories and tricked them into thinking they were their old selves. could've saved us all a lot of trouble no? And ykw the actual worst part of this entire storyline was? we never actually got to see Dark Swan do ACTUAL dark one level of evil when she was fully turned in present day. her trying to fight the darkness back in camelot was done well i think cause it was the start of her journey down darkness road. but once she was fully committed she wasn't remotely evil. And you can't excuse it to her motivation being saving hook which is a good thing. Rumple's entire thing was him trying to protect and then get back to his son which is why he clung to his powers. But he was still extremely manipulative and evil in his ways and sometimes even smaller intentions. The Dark Swan arc had so much potential and the story could've been SO compelling if they went all the way evil with emma. Hook still could've gotten hurt and she could've tried to hold on to her powers to try and keep him alive instead of turning him into the dark one too. She could've still turned rumple in a hero to get Excalibur to THEN try to tether hook to it and not tell him (hence memory erase). Rumple could've then saved the day by sacrificing himself to the darkness and tethering himself back to the dagger (here on a major he would've looked good but then his addiction could've come into play as well) and when the darkness left emma, hook would've died and they would've had to go to the underworld. bam, i fixed it.

I like all the seasons except for 7. Not liking seasons 5 through 7 is pretty common though. 👍

nah i personally LOVE season 7. can't say the same for s5 and 6 tho. edit: although s6B is pretty good ngl. they really brought it full circle with the dark fairy arc
