We get them where I am on Manitoulin Island routinely as big as that large one. They school up in late fall and my entire graph/screen is black due to the sheer numbers. We use a tried and true method - a small Jigging Rap, the lead type with treble on bottom. Drop it down to the bottom (25-35ft) and snap jig it up in pulses just like you would for walleye, except you're anchored in the middle of them. You catch one on almost every drop but only keep the larger ones. My PB is a big female I snap jigged that weighed 1.65lbs. Good to see you back, Dave
Super fun exciting video! I love jumbo perch! I was going to ice fish Superior for the first time ever this winter but I got nervous from the mild el nino weather. It just sketched me out too much. Maybe next winter I'll get you to guide me to some Superior perch!!!! Great stuff Dave!
Joe, when you make it over this way we are definitely gonna have some fun with whatever is chompin at that time. And lookin forward to when that happens!
@NorthOntarioDave could have very well been this spring but because the Airlines messed up our trip to the arctic last summer we have to use our vacation time again this year for the same trip. I should have lots of days off for 2025.... tributary fishing.... perch fishing in the bay... we will make something work!
