ONE Chord to SILENCE Any Crowd (Play This!)
➤ Grab the Reference Material here: www.guitarmast...
Is this the guitar chord to end all guitar chords? Maybe. Maybe not. But one thing is for sure, this guitar chord gets people’s attention.
This particular guitar chord might be unlike any of the guitar chords you’ve currently come across. Just it’s crazy name alone sets it apart!
In this lesson I’m going to break down the chord (with a minimal amount of theory required) and show you how you can play it and add it to your guitar chord bag o’ tricks.
This chord can invoke a lot of emotion just by itself, but to me it works perfectly as a way to end a lick played in a minor key.
You can throw in some sweet minor pentatonic licks and then use that special guitar chord to end it as the cherry on top.
Not to mention this is one of those guitar chords that carries a musical “intelligence” to it. When you play it, it gives a sense that you know what you’re doing as a guitar player. That’s always a nice feeling.
When you unlock the fretboard and understand how to use this special guitar chord in any key, you’ll have command over your guitar and the ability to bring out the deepest emotions from your listeners. In my opinion, that’s the highest level of musical experiences!
📘 WHICH REMINDS ME!! Grab your FREE Guitar Cheat Sheet here: www.guitarmast...
👆 That Cheat Sheet will take what you just learned and show you how to play it in ANY key! Imagine taking this guitar chord beyond the key we used today and being able to play it in EVERY other key under the sun, along with killer licks to go with it! That’s what you’ll get when you click that link!
My #1 rule as always is to HAVE FUN with what you learn here! Take this new knowledge and put it through its paces, beyond just what I suggest you do with it.
Guitar chords are not meant to be put in a box, you can use them however you like, as long as they truly sound good to YOU, you’re on the right track in my book :)
Rock On!
Eddie

You can play it without wrapping your thumb using Your pointer on the top string and muting the second with your middle barring the other strings then using your ring and pinky on the other notes. I mostly play nylon so the wider neck makes it hard to wrap your thumb over the top

Thanks for highlighting this juicy chord, which sounds great at the end of 'Cry me a River' or 'Round Midnight. 'If, like me, you have small hands and your thumb can't 'play over the top', you can achieve a very similar effect as follows: First finger barre across the 5th fret, 3rd finger on string 5, fret 7, 2nd finger on string 4 fret 6, 4th finger on string one, fret 7. It avoids any need to damp any strings and it's moveable like Eddie's version. It doubles the 5th of the chord, but no-one has ever rushed up to me and complained as such.

As long as it's an Amin/Maj7/add9 why is the 5th string (which is an A) muted? You could just eliminate the thumb on the 6th string and play a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1-string chord. Moving the chord up and down the neck, however, would need to be done in the manner you describe.

Question(s)....when doing the Am, why not play the 5th string open, since it's an A. And/or....why not put the ring finger down on the 5th string 2 frets up of the root you are playing since you are calling it a minor chord and that note is in the standard minor barr chord? Just learning....trying to understand. Thank you.
@randomshtuff394
@randomshtuff394 3 года назад
@@GuitarMasteryMethod yes. I was guessing that. How bout the other question.....example in Am...ring finger on 5rh string 7th fret E, as that is part of Am barr chord? Or does that give the sound/feel of the sound you are trying to create too much mid-low? Thanks.

Hey Eddie I love this sound! Now I can play this on the Guitar as well!! Coming from a Keyboard background I was wondering why you were silencing the A string? If you Barr the entire 5th fret then just add your 4th finger to the 7th fret of the A string which you now be playing E. If you aggregate this on the keyboard with the following voicing it sounds WOW!!! A E B C E G# B FYI from my Music theroy back in the late 70's I realized the following: Basically the Minor 9th Maj 7th is made up of 2 chords in this case it would be = Am & EM Chord the 9th is B and the Maj 7 is G#. The 2nd chord is the 5th in that key. In this case EMaj. This holds true for other 9th chords as well IE Maj 9 is made up of two Major chords EM9 is made up of EMaj and BMaj EM9 = E G# B D# F# / E G# B (E chord) AND B D# F# (B chord). Then you have the different voicing of the notes that can change the way this sounds. LOVE all the great info that you, Charlie and the rest of the team have to offer. I just started back on Guitar in February and LOVE, LOVE your courses. Of course still playing the Keyboards and started that back up 3 years ago. Thanks!!!!! John Boy

@@GuitarMasteryMethod Hi Guitar Master. With all due respect, I've been playing guitar since before you, and the internet, were born. And I have never seen a chord annotated that way. If there is a "standard" way, it's with the strings vertical and the bass string on the left, commonly called a chord box. And chord shapes are not tab. Your viewers aren't sitting there staring at their guitars on their laps. They're watching YOU, with your strings horizontal and the bass strings on top, with some graphic above which is 180° different. That produces "cognitive dissonance", which will interfere with the learning process, and will probably make viewers look elsewhere for tuition. Businesses pay a lot of money for this advice, but this is a freebie from one psychologist/guitarist to another. Ignore it if you think you know better.
@brothercain2734
@brothercain2734 3 года назад
@@KingofRoath then you haven't been doing it right plain and simple this guy put the tab up correctly.
@KingofRoath
@KingofRoath 3 года назад
@@brothercain2734 It is NOT tab! That appears to be the confusion here. It is a chord shape, which shows the finger positions relative to the frets and strings. You can show eg a strummed chord on tab, but it's just a vertical line of fret numbers on the relevant strings. What most people find easiest is the shape of the fingers on the frets. And it helps if that picture isn't upside down.
