I’m just gonna repeat what everyone else is saying for the most part…. Eddie, I have watched tons of videos but no one has explained those two scales as simply as you did! You explained how to become melodic in the best and simplest way possible for newbies. I can’t thank you enough! I’m hooked on your channel buddy!

Hey, I am an older guy trying to relieve my glory days of the 70's when I played bass and keyboards. I have seen many videos try to teach us the major and minor pentatonic scales. They always lost me. Yours on the e minor scale at the start - I got it first time!

Agree.... I only wish we had technology like this ( UTube videos) back in the 70's. Being self taught I picked up bad habits cuz I didn't have anyone to mentor me with scales. I learned rhythm through tabs.

Hi Eddie, how are you. First of all thank you for your lessons. They are great !. Reagarding this one, two things you said that don't fit with what I've learned on the subject. When you are in a MINOR pentatonic, in this case E minor, to find the relative MAJOR pentatonic, you must walk to your RIGHT and not to your LEFT. For example, if you are in A minor scale, and want to find the relative major (C Major), you must move 3 frets to the RIGHT. Another point is the shape of the MAJOR Pentatonic is a little different from the MINOR. You used both shapes (MAJOR and SMALL) exactly the same. I would be grateful if you could clarify these points.

To any new players, THIS IS VALUABLE INFORMATION. Hes describing my AHA moment decades ago. In the first band I was ever in, I was filling in for the regular guy playing rhythm 12 bar stuff to a lead player in a blues band. (Its really all i knew at the time) Jeff, the lead player showed me this scale, just in a passing way, and I went home and sat for a week figuring it out by playing along to myself on a cheap cassette recorder. Figuring out different starting points and where octaves were etc, and expanding from there. This is a great video, described in such an easily understandable way, and will put so many new players on the right track.

What helped make it click for me was comparing it to using only the black keys on a keyboard (which results in a pentatonic scale also). Same as there are spots on the keyboard where there's no black key, there are places on each string where you need to skip two frets instead of one.

I’ve met many guitar legends and have been onstage with a few here and there setting up and talking shop. Pictures won’t lie. Anyway, the point I’m making is this, this is the best video in learning how to bridge the gap. I’d also add that knowing where the chord shapes are around the neck would be this videos equal.
