You don’t need HIIT, a study showed that walking 12,000 steps a day does wonders for mental health. I can testify to that, as I’ve been walking between 10k-15k steps a day for over a year, and my PTSD symptoms are almost gone and I’m in a much better mood.
WOW, Dr. B. I am so depressed right now because of a great loss due to my stupidity(!) I will try your formula (but I will still look to Jesus ultimately.) Thank you!
Sending hugs to you!! I'm so sorry for your loss & I pray God will pour out His mighty awesome power & love & peace & blessings & comfort in every way today!!
I have said it once and i REPEAT it again - Dr Berg's content NEEDS to be shared across social media and spread out to your loved ones. This guy is potentially saving so many lives.
I share to all my loved ones. This one I shared to my husband and he loved it so much he shared it with his sister. And this video in particular even made him consider the idea of fasting after hearing the story of the guy starving himself and it backfiring. Dr Berg is the best ❤️
I did the same, gave up, stopped eating, after 3 days I noticed how good I felt after decades of physical pain and depression. Only trouble is I got too thin!!
Fasting will heal me of allergies, also, but only when I am fasting and stay in an isolated, purified air environment. Ooh, I should starve myself to health!
Some plain green teas are bitter so I recommend getting flavored teas. My faves are Tr. Joe's organic Moroccan mint green tea, and the ginger peach or ginger fire chai by Stash. Always buy organic, since tea plants are sprayed with pesticides.
Where I live in the US, we have lots of Rails-to-Trails to walk on, and they are awesome. There's lots of flowing streams and small waterfalls next to them which I also find therapeutic.
@@babybelle5 that sounds perfect!! we have some here that cut through neighborhoods and by lakes, marshes.brooks and woods.. when the days get longer I can do that after work...makes all the difference in the world.
@@babybelle5 Omgoodness that sounds amazing to me!!!❤ Ever since I was a young girl 12yrs and up I LOOOOVED walking in areas where there were streams, babbling creeks etc. I would become so relaxed and feel so peaceful. I now live in NM so it's more dessert and so I don't get to see that much, but we have beautiful mountains (course I would have to drive to get to them and I'm not a mountain climber 😂). Wish I could walk with you on your trails I'd love it. Wishing you the best!
Husband and I love your vitamins Dr Berg! Seriously life changing!!!! We did Keto- he lost 85lbs! I lost 65lbs! We still fast and eat keto meals. We also” ground “ twice per day. We feel better, he was told he had to take blood pressure meds, insulin, he had severe depression, anxiety, beginnings of Alzheimer’s… he was 100% disabled per the VA. Thanks to you… he stopped drinking alcohol, started green tea, eating better and feeling better. Only thing is he was a Camp Lejeune Marine…. Chemical damage to brain and nerves. However…. his mood, health and outlook are much better and depression is minimal…. Thank you! If you only had an idea of how powerful your words are and life changing your education is - the VA doctors are amazed. You have a heart Gold! 🏆🥹
You didn’t lose weight because of keto. You lost weight because you ate less because less foods adhere with keto. You could’ve just reduced energy intake. Basic physics.
I have dealt with low mood my entire adult life. 10 months of Keto has helped a lot. I went off Keto when on vacation a couple weeks back in Florida. I had a depressive episode and ended up in bed by 6:30 pm on night. Anyhow I’m back on track. Just added in long walks, sitting out in the sun and now green tea is next. I am due for my annual physical and am going to wean off of Effexor. Been on it for 20 years. Thanks for everything Dr. Berg.
Be very careful when you wean off effexor. I was on it 10 years and I did weaned slowly but if my brain needed more grains(a time release pill) it would have what I called brain vertigo so I would add a few more grains. I think if weaned too quickly it could cause seizures.
@@ds9083 Yes, I am highly concerned. I’m on 75mg. It could take a couple years. I realize I could feel crappy during the process but I’m a very patient person.
I would like to add 2 important side-notes about green tea that wasn't mentioned in the video. This is from my own experience since I also struggled with depression for many years. 1. Green tea contains Caffeine. If it upsets your stomach or you're having trouble sleeping, there is decaffeinated alternatives! 2. If you can afford it, go for Matcha tea! It's a more powerful form of green tea. Preferably organic Matcha that isn't sweetened and made in Asia, especially Japan or China where it's originated
@@YodatheHobbit I have no experience of bottled decaf Matcha tea. I always buy grounded Matcha (with naturally occurring caffeine) and stir or whisk it with a Matcha bamboo whisk. It's hard to say or recommend a brand, depending on where you live but I buy locally. However, I heard the popular brand "Twinings" offer green tea decaf. Not sure if their green tea are Matcha though, I heard it's Sencha which is another form or green tea but it's infused whereas with Matcha, you consume the whole leaf and Matcha offer more beneficial benefits in comparison. In my opinion, the best organic Matcha comes from Japan especially from a place in Japan called Kyoto. China also have great Matcha powder. Just make sure it's legit and not outsourced from another country and preferably not sweetened. It's better to use your own sweeteners like good quality honey which I use since the taste of Matcha is not great.
@@dimitridoroshko Sure! Long story short, I have been struggling with depression since age of 13. Got professional help at age of 19 but nothing really helped, i didn't get any better and I put on a lot of weight so I started looking for alternative medicine. My journey to recover started in mid-september 2021 with cold baths and I thought what can I lose? I was miserable as ever been, had a lot of dark times with suicidal thoughts. With inspiration from Dr. Berg, I went on a keto diet in combination with 16/8 fasting in october 2021 for about 7 months, my main goal were to get better, happier, stronger, more energized and i was very successful. I also lost weight from about 92kg to 77kg. During the keto, I had green tea every day for a few weeks, (idk what kind) but then I found out about Sencha that others claimed to be a more potent green tea and I drank that for a month and finally I found out about organic Matcha which seemed to be the best green tea in terms of health benefits and it stuck with me ever since. I also drank apple cider vinegar daily to promote weight loss. During the 7 months of keto, I never exercised more than 10 min of walks outside every other day. Now, I can't say if the green tea were the biggest changing factor in my healing from depression but it certainly helped a lot and still does to this day. I feel a deeper sense of calm, brain fog is gone, easier to think and focus, memory improved, anger is gone, better sleep, more energized to mention a few. **The taste of Matcha is not great, doesn't fit everyone but I got used to it pretty fast. Post keto diet, I add some honey to my cup of tea for better taste and my tip for preserving more of the nutrients from Matcha and honey is to let the hot tea water cool down a bit first. Rule of thumb is about 60-70°C//140-158°F temperature, if you want to measure it. What happened after the 7 months of keto? I stopped the keto diet but were still fasting few days a week, ate more carbs (mainly complex carbs), stopped with ACV but still drank Matcha, continued to lose more weight. Continued with cold baths and implemented occasional meditation to my daily routine. Stopped medicating late 2023 after a long time of slowly reducing the dosage. Currently weigh about 70kg and I exercise a bit more. Final word - the action I took in 2021 were the best thing I ever did and the biggest regret is that I didn't start earlier. I feel happier and more at peace with myself and i'm a big believer in alternative medicine.
If you don't like bitter green teas, I recommend buying flavored versions. My faves are Tr. Joe's organic Moroccan mint green tea, and the ginger peach or ginger fire chai green tea by Stash. Always get organic, since tea plants are sprayed with pesticides.
My 6 pillars of mental health are: 1. Medication and supplements (ssri, omega3, theanine, vit D...) 2. Meditation and breath work 3. Exercise (cardio and resistance) 4. Sleep 5. Diet (low sugar, low processed food, eating max twice a day) 6. Light and darkness (getting sunlight during the day, turn off screens and lights at night)
I have acute depression because I am far from family and friends. New country, new people and new language. I will definitely start taking green tea now!
You should realize that clinical depression is not the same as being sad because of actual problems in your life. Clinical depression is a syndrome identified with feeling a low affect DESPITE THE LACK OF PROBLEMS. Feeling sad because you're isolated from friends and family is natural, not psychological. Establishing social bonds is the only thing that will affect your sadness, not green tea. It's not bad for you, you just don't have clinical depression to cure.
Lefty, thank you for your well meant words, but being totally upfront, I do not pray to a “ generalized universe “ for anything. I DO pray to God through Jesus, though. Have a blessed day, Lefty !
I’m 68 and been on these meds for 20 years (Duluxotine/ Zoloft). I want off these but every time I’ve tried all I do is cry! I am unhappy with where my life has ended up. I’m going to start drinking green tea!!!! Thanks for all you are doing to teach us the truth!!!
Sorry to say but green tea wont help you. There is nothing wrong with having to take an anti depressant, Lots of people do and they benefit peoples lives tremendously. Unless your getting some side effects why come off? Your best off cleaning up your diet and optimizing health parameters. Majority of neurotransmitters are made in the gut so fixing a possible gut issue would remedy you.

@@BackFireZz I know there are cases in which these meds are needed and though I want off I may not be able to. I’m going to start the green tea, add exercise (which I’ve gotten away from) and cleaner eating; I’ve started taking Unify for gut health and changed to a high quantity multiple vitamin regimen. At least I hope to lower the dose and become as healthy as I was at a younger age. Thanks for your comments- wish me luck!!
And if this doesn’t work, do what I do. drink a cup of staying away from stupid, narcissistic toxic draining people every single day and you’ll be amazed at what it can do for your overall health as the stress hormones that they cause are no longer being produced in your body .
Switch over to carnivore diet... I have come across some videos here on u2be made by MDs that are claiming big gains in that area by using carnivore diet. Check it out.
Even getting out for a walk! Just get outside and go around your block and notice things. I'm in my 70's and try to have a little walk every day. Do it and have some fun!
Micro sprints, running like you had a tiger behind you, while counting "1 elephant, 2 elephants, 3 elephants, 4 elephants, 5 elephants and stop" this has rapidly reset my daughter's depression, insomnia and fatigue, it's the #1 remedy.
Or, walking heal to toe as fast as you can for 60 seconds, then continue walking to catch breath and do again. 3 reps and done. Proven the best for entire cardiovascular system. Don’t feel bad if you can’t do 60 seconds at first, it’s tougher than you might expect
Great one Dr! L Theanine is supposed to help with anxiety. L Theanine is found in Matcha Green tea, and green tea. I have been trying some of Charles Atlas tension book and exercises.Fasting and Vitamin D, great tips.
I'm so glad that guy went with the fasting. I once did the same for 3 days with similar self harm motives but by the end I felt so much better despite being a little ruined, because I was still going around doing all my daily tasks without EVEN WATER! Now though I'd definitely fast with water and minerals. It was a wonderful lesson.
@@jennifer9325 No I only mean fasting really improved my mood that time but I did it in a really horrible way of course. Also the depression doesn't just resume immediately like a switch flipping on once you break your fast. To keep it off I think you need to fix the life you're living in step by step. I'd suggest leaving anti-depressants as the absolute last option unless you are in really terrible shape. I hope you feel better in no time! Stay strong my friend! Also needless to say, I don't think being on a 3 day fast, break, 3 day fast, break cycle all the time is a good idea. In fact if you've never done it before, going in straight with a 3 day fast will be really difficult. Try skipping a mean at first and then maybe OMAD. Try 3 day (or 2 day whatever) once you improve your health a little more.
After reading about how millions of pounds of toxic substances yearly are released into Texas, Indiana, Alaska, California, etc. waters, it wouldn't hurt to add a bunch of Sun Chlorella to that green tea! 💯 Thank you, Dr. Berg, for sharing this remedy with us! Have a great Sunday, y'all! 🙂
I love the one-page summaries of Dr Berg's videos. They help me to remember what I learned when I need it and I don't have to make notes myself. Please keep making them, Dr. Berg, and thank you!
Unfortunately, Dr. Berg does not recommend specific brands, because he can't track the source and quality of materials they use. Dr. Berg is just directing you to the type of tea that may help so you can begin researching it.
@@sherrihardesty6177 Yes. It only contains honey, lemon, and ginger. All these ingredients have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that are proven to have improve mood levels.
to prevent any potential confusion, in the tea world, the word typically used for black and oolong teas is oxidized. Fermentation is a different process for a different category of teas (puerh and heichas (dark teas)) that you won't typically find in western supermarkets.
I've been drinking Green Tea everyday for years...but in my experience, Tulsi Tea is better for depression. Especially the Ashwagandha/Tulsi combination tea.
Then you should know depression is a spirit of heaviness and you must put on the garment of praise for it. Cast it out it could be environmental oppression or projections even from witches forecasting devices against God's people. Take all things up in prayer and spiritual warfare. Play over and over in your environment Healing Psalms, worship music and The promises of God do not accept or agree you have this depression. Say loud... I have the joy of the Lord at all times in Jesus Mighty name! It's a lie from the enemy so send it Back to the Sender and if it is a generational curse or projected infirmity coming from the enemy as an arrow break it off of your life forever plus eat, drink, think and exercise healthy. Honestly it may be any spirit or a toxic chemical some object you should remove or some persons or something in or around your home and life. Pray for revelation on where this is coming from and how to defeat it. Remember in Christ we have every victory. Keep pleading The Blood of Jesus over yourself, loved ones and all your property and land. Stay in The Full Armour of God always binding strongmen and demons and people who harass, malice or antagonize you forbidding them from operating in your life. Keep casting depression and other burdens out of your body and life and pull down the vain imaginations of depression and of others against you. The understanding of the sorrows of life or of global catastrophe and the impending doom of this fallen system as a Christian with everlasting hope is not depression it is actually matured empathetic wisdom and a healthy response to the woes of this world because you have a conscious. These other diabolical people out here do not feel and these robots and zombie under satanic manipulations and mind control do not care they are programmed for destruction they have no remorse neither do they feel the shame and repent. You may feel saddened at times because you bear the weight of the glory of the knowledge of Christ. It is a privledge and a badge of honour that you care enough to be sympathetic towards the conditions of the Universe also it could be vibrational lift your spirits raise your vibrations to 528 639 741 852 963hz and worship. There are some neighborhoods that even have ill causing low vibrations pumped into the neighborhood or electric wiring the hum from the poles and cell towers near. Also avoid a bad gut diet it has brain and mood correlation. Eat as much organic NON GMO and no processed foods really cut out white bleached flour and refined white sugar and regular cows milk that has nearly the reverb and affects of heroin on the body because it is so toxic filled nowadays. Pray about all things #1 n of course yes, Green Tea is an awesome antioxidant. Try also chamomile at bed time for relaxation too. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊
Depression don’t mean you aren’t Christian. We are living in an extreme high level of demonic activity & society. Keep turning to God and be around genuine Christian people plus diet exercise rest water positive music praise God. Try to have fun or do what you like. But Dr Berg gives good advice too but sometimes we need medication depending on what’s going on and that’s ok too.
I have been drinking green tea twice a day for many years. There is something soothing and personal about the ritual of tea drinking which also may help with mental and emotional health. The necessity of focusing on the tea preparation and the attention which you are paying to your own needs helps in maintaining stability of mood.
@bird271828. I agree but if any inexpensive substance can help a little bit, I’m all for it. Anything that can help you feel more in control is helpful.
I feel ya. But tea can for sure help your body cope and then take the next steps. It starts with the mindset too. If you don't think tea will help at all then it probably won't. But if you test different blends and study herbal medicine you can find a healthier path in all areas. I'm not a doctor but I've managed depression most of my life with the help of teas and herbs. Most healing opportunities I have had to learn because I'm already to so many meds I've always been into naturally healing methods and nutrition. It's a fascinating journey.
Dumb comment. Your diet directly affects your state of mind. Ppl like you will go depressed their entire lives blaming it on external things. Time to wake up
I stopped coffee because of stomach issues. it was the only 'vice' i had left in my life and held onto it ! I immediately switched to Green tea and didnt suffer the headaches from withdrawal at all and I feel great! I buy from a local tea shop and enjoy the different blends. I love it!
Love this info about green tea, exercise, fasting & sunshine. Wow, so happy it works for me 😄 Also just have to remind you that your new studio & the river table are so cool 👍🏼

I love matcha tea! And I mean real matcha! It's so amazing along with many other green teas! I always choose tea over coffee and I choose green tea over black tea. Herbal teas are amazing tea too!
Dr Berg seems to be against processed food in general. So, I wonder why this video is about green tea instead of white tea. - Both white tea and green tea come from Camellia sinensis. (However production of white tea is more labour intensive and time-constraint thus making it slightly more expensive) - White tea has less caffeine. (A cup of green tea contains about 27-47 mg of caffeine, while a cup of white tea contains around 15-30 mg) - White tea is less processed than Green tea. - White tea tastes better. (It has a delicate, subtle, and slightly sweet taste due to its minimal processing. It's especially good with little cinnamon.) - Some studies suggest that white tea may have a slightly higher concentration of catechins and unique flavonoids, which could provide more significant health benefits. So, the choice is clear.
This short video is packed full of awesome and interesting gems! Thanks bunches! Cant wait to see all the ways to assault this cortisol problem! Thanks Doc!
If you do add green tea to your daily routine or ritual, just make sure that it's actually truly raw and green tea, preferably organic, and as relatively unprocessed as possible, and definitely WITHOUT ANY added ingredients like sugars or artificial sweeteners, fillers, etc. Most "green tea" that I've found in the regular grocery stores, really ISN'T 100% pure actual green tea and nothing else, it usually has something else added to it, as filler and/or sweetener, so be VERY careful about where you source it! Also, in order for green tea to actually retain all of its beneficial properties, it should NOT be heated to an extreme degree, like with boiling water, instead it would be much better if it was slowly seeped over time, like even making sun tea with it.
Having inflammation in my body caused me to be chronically fatigued and that caused a depression with no motivation. I wasn’t energetic and productive. Trying to do an anti-inflammatory diet of green tea, bone broth, cabbage, miso, turmeric, probiotics and cod liver. Trying to go back to the gym and incorporating my faith in Jesus Christ with fasting.
I love green tea and already drink it. I am really loving the use of the tabletthis new format feels more personal and for me its make retaining all this knowledge so much easier..
I have been drinking Heapwell Japanese matcha for past 5 years along with my 18-6 intermittent fasting. Absolutely delicious and antioxidant powerhouse.
I switched from coffee to green tea. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t have made it through some difficult life changes. If I go a day without my tea, I feel significant mood swings. It truly makes a difference for me. I eat healthy and don’t miss my vitamins. I also have a vitamin d deficiency.
Thank you Dr. Berg, that is very hopeful advice! I love the sound of adding green tea to my day because of its other benefits too. I appreciate your help.
