The original Shalimar perfume was designed in 1921 by Jacques Guerlain, inspired by Mumtaz Mahal (the name means "Jewel of the Palace"), wife of Shah Jahan, Mughal Emperor of India. On the orders of this emperor, the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore were built. The gardens were designed as a Persian paradise garden to create a representation of an earthly utopia in which people can live in perfect harmony with Mother Nature. Shalimar was Mumtaz' favorite garden. The harmony of the Shalimar fragrance was created when Jacques Guerlain poured a bottle of ethyl vanillin (a component of artificial vanilla) into a bottle of Jicky, another masterpiece created by Guerlain in 1889. Just ordered Fidelis based on your two videos where you are recommending it. It should arrive next week. As far as I can see, it should be a fantastic fragrance and it was a tough decision. I was undecided between 1740, Ambre 114 and Fidelis. It seems that Fidelis checks on everything I like. :)

Just blind bought Mitsouko couple days ago, It seems like I'm blind buying Shalimar as well. 😊 My scent of the day is Kashmir. Indeed a delightful fragrance. My other favorites from Arabian oud are Amiri, Blue Oud & Aseel golden addition(an absolutely delicious gourmand scent)
