Just...words aren't enough. John Patitucci has been one of the most important guiding lights for me in my musical life and especially as a bass player. What an absolute legend. This song brings back memories of his one of the best ever albums..."One More Angel".
Mr. Patiticci made a long-lasting impression on this 60 year old musician. I believe I have seen more live music and bass players than most people. My guitar player and I met him in Detroit in the early 90's, as nice of a person as the extraordinary bass player he is. Peace from Detroit MI.
Years ago when I began playing, I bought a Video and a book that John did. I am left handed and play right handed. I was having trouble with my right hand coordination. John's lessons included a simple exercise called the Spider. That one simple exercise got my right picking fingers jumping strings and strengthened them. I learned a whole lot from John. He inspired me to slow down and work on tempo. And even those many years back, he was a stellar 6 string player. Thank you John Patitucci. And thanks for the absolutely beautiful song. Great to see a 6 string player using the lower registers and the upper. Sweet harmonics. I sat in front of John at a gig he did in Redondo Beach with Chick Corea. I'll never reach Johns skill level. But he is a natural when it comes to inspiring others.
I was fortunate enough to discover John back in the eighties, and he has continued to be the best bass player alive since then (IMHO). I've lost track of how many times I've seen him play live, from sitting outside a club in Dallas to listen to Chick and the Elektric Band when I couldn't afford a ticket, large venues, to a front row seat in Denver's premiere jazz club. His warmth and generosity remain unparalleled. Thank you John, for 40+ years of pure enjoyment and wonder.
I think it’s obvious that you are one of the best bassists in the universe(along with Jeff Berlin and victor wooten) your work with chick is freaking untouchable! I’m a multi instrumentalist/vocalist. Happy holidays!
There are so many more skilled bassists in the World today. But the players that started the ball really rolling are still Jaco, Jeff Berlin, Victor, Steve Bailey, James Jamerson, Carol Kaye......of course Carol has a place in history that is utterly unique. But yup John surely has a gift.
Sin palabras!. Éste hombre es increíble y digno de admiración. Es puro arte lo que hace con sus dedos. Me quito el sombrero ante tanto arte. Grande el maestro John Patitucci.
God Bless you John your mastery of The 6 String continues too inspire Me you and Anthony Jackson are the two players that got me into playing the contrabass.
John, the love for the melody, the instrument and the tone is inspiring. Bless ya mate! I had a few of your 'tapes' in my backpack when I traveled for years in SE Asia as a missionary in my early days. Man they got worn out. RU-vid has brought you back into my frame again. Merry Christmas to me. Gotta jump onto Bandcamp and support your work! Muchas gracias mate.
John Patitucci, haciendo del bajo eléctrico un instrumento más músical y completo, pues que hace tiempo dejó de ser solo un soporte de la banda, y que puede hacer su historia musical propia🎶👏
Hi John, great seeing you live in Portsmouth NH back in September please come back! Beautiful piece. I love how your tempo matches the tremolo effect. So subtle. Have a blessed Christmas.
