Great well informed chat with these guys, all linked with the irrefutable truth of the risks of meat and dairy produce. If we could issue warnings to pupils/students and parents of the cancer links and health risks of dairy and processed meat (from an early age), also it would give the students time to make an informed decision of their choice of diet and ethics etc. It might just save their lives and our planet….
@natalietannerblogger-theed9419
I agree. But, here in the US dairy is a required part of a school lunch. As teachers we are either not allowed to teach this, or are strongly leaned on not to teach this. The government subsidizes dairy and if you are eating a free school lunch you are NOT ALLOWED to say no to the milk. A child is required to take it on their tray. AND the school is NOT ALLOWED to substitute water for the milk for free lunches (which feed a HUGE number of students in the US) even when we went on a field trip in Texas where we would be outside in triple digit heat the school HAD to send milk for lunch. Our government at work because these lunches are subsidized by the governement - dairy.

@@natalietannerblogger-theed9419 Hi Natalie, your situation seems like a horrible catch 22 scenario …. In the UK on the news a few months ago, a head teacher announced that his school was going plant based. ( including the omission of dairy) This caused a big debate but I think he managed to implement his wishes and as far as I know (will check out later)that still applies. Meat especially when it’s processed, is a no. 1 carcinogen, this has been scientifically proven. If there was a proven slim chance that somebody’s child could get cancer through a diet choice, even if it was extremely unlikely, I wouldn’t take that chance….on their behalf. Teachers are our future ! So …..inspire, educate, inform ….and change the world ! :)

Dr. Barnard. I have immense respect for your work and have learned much from you. Thank you for all you do. I would agree with you that "voting with our dollars" would be one helpful way to counteract the nefarious influence of meat and dairy models of exploitation, marketing, and consumption. You did not say nor hint that this proposed action is sufficient. I'm sure you don't feel that way; we agree on that. Much more needs to be done, and you live the struggle. However, I think we can also agree that voting with dollars, as a principle, simply leaves most of the votes in the hands of the wealthy. That means that political choices are made not unlike they are in our current, Wall Street-model of public health and food culture. So, yes, we should vote with our dollars, because it's the right thing to do. We should do so because we know it's the right thing to do and do not wish to befoul our conscience or compound an already massive public problem. Buying carrots and kale never felt so liberating. :-)

Great collaboration with some very well informed speakers. In Australia we get what are known as ‘$1 milks’. These products are basically a carton of mass produced, mass pasteurised one litre milk cartons. They are of the absolute lowest quality for extended shelf life and sold en mass by our two biggest supermarkets (the actual cost has now risen to about $4 due to inflation). These $1 milks have been almost universally accepted as a staple part of the diet. Long term consumption revealed it causes up to 50% decrease in male fertility because of all the oestrogen the dairy industry inject into the cows. But at the same time we are told its essential drink it every day for calcium. Of course, by ruining male testosterone it has a host of other very unpleasant side effects to men. Add to that, the health risks discussed in this video…

I've been a Whole Foods plant based vegan for the past 13 years but 2 yrs ago I ended up getting melanoma (CANCER) any way!! Extremely upsetting that someone like me who eats insanely healthy ends up getting cancer anyway. Life is not fair!!! I went vegan 15 years ago for ethical reasons but then I switched to Whole Foods plant based vegan for my health and I still ended up with melanoma!!! 👎 This freaks me out more than words can express cause I feel like I really don't have any control whether I get melanoma or not regardless of what I eat because I've been eating very correctly for many many years now.... it's been my PASSION!!!!!
@natalietannerblogger-theed9419
I'm sure that seems horribly unfair!! I'm sorry that happened to you. I feel certain that you are protecting yourself from more or worse....plant based is good for you we know from science. Keep up the good work and keep your chin up.

@NoExitLoveNow
@NoExitLoveNow Год назад
You are grasping at straws. There is nothing special about cheese from Greece or cheese from sheep.
@iamdebmiller
@iamdebmiller Год назад
Please consider this: It doesn't matter what animal cheese comes from. It all comes from recently pregnant and lactating females, which means it's a very high load of foreign animal estrogens and other hormones that we are not designed to ingest. These hormones have strong effect in humans, negative effect. We are the only species on the planet who bizarrely insists on drinking the milk of other species as part of our daily routine. Sometimes in nature when one animal may lose his or her mother, another animal may step in and nurse that baby. But that's a fairly rare occurrence and it's an emergency, not the daily routine. Generally, babies, of all species, are supposed to wean as children. No animal, aside from humans, drinks animal milk into adulthood. Digestive enzymes are present in the bodies of babies, but at the weaning age, those enzymes naturally fade away, and the babies wean off of milk and begin eating the foods that will sustain them through adulthood. This includes humans. Human adults have no need to drink animal milk, of any kind. We are no longer babies. Human babies and children should not drink animal milk either, as the nutritional profile of cow milk or sheep or goat milk is very different than what human babies need, and that mismatch is significantly important. Animal milk is not healthy for humans. Human babies need human breast milk. And no other. And no one past the age of weaning needs any breast milk of any kind at all. Think about it - can you picture yourself curling up today in your mother's lap and breastfeeding? It's ludicrous, right? Can you go further and imagine yourself curling up underneath and nursing from a cow, a goat, a sheep, a pig, a dog, or for that matter, a giraffe or a porcupine? All of those options are similarly inappropriate - we are not supposed to ingest anything but our own mother's milk, and only until the age of weaning. Poor health results when we stray from this truth. Considering other aspects like whether or not the milk/cheese is organic, or if it is produced in Greece or on Mars, or if it comes from sheep rather than cows, is just splitting hairs. The fundamental issue is that for humans, ingesting the milk of other species is just wrong, period. To make cheese, milk has to be stolen from SOME animal, somewhere. This means that a lot of innocent babies are being forced to do without their own mothers' milk, and many are outright killed so we can steal their milk, which their mother made for them, not for us, which we don't even need, which actually harms us. What kind of selfish monsters are we, when we steal something as basic and precious as mothers' milk, the very life fluid of infants, out of the mouths of little babies? It's hideous, when you stop and think about it. It's bad for the animals who are caged and exploited, who have their babies taken away from them. And it's bad for human health because it is food we are not physiologically designed to be eating. Dairy is depravity and disease.

@DebMiller what a fantastic iteration of cow's milk dairy you have described! I may borrow it and give credit of course to you. I would also add that if milk were classified as a chemical rather than a food it would be the second most toxic carcinogen that we know of! There is plenty of science to back this. Cow's milk for humans is pure, unadulterated poison!
