We just had that yesterday as well Firetrucks and Ambulance that passed our house. I like the 1 firetruck that had a AMERICAN FLAG in front painted on the metal. Who was recording this videos.

I have a question. I've noticed some departments (particularly Boston) carrying blue lights on their rigs. Is this departmental preference or state mandated?

Massachusetts statute allows for "a blue light that turns in the reverse direction that the fire truck is traveling" if departments want.

I think it's the Q starting to spin, but I'm not a siren expert by any means so that's just my best guess.

Some manufacturers of the "Q" have it set up so a switch or pedal have to be engaged in order for it to be activated

I'm liking the Connecticut departments in the video. Hope you can get some Fairfield county units in there for this year like Shelton, Ansonia, Seymour, Derby, Etc. Nice work though!

I've personally called for Ambulances several times for my elderly parents and each time a Fire crew showed up around the same time as the Ambulance. Each time the Firefighters stood around and did next to nothing! This needs to be looked at much closer by City Officials.

Sometimes ambulance units are not readily available, or have not had a chance to "Resupply" because of a high volume of calls. Fire apparatus has more storage capability, thus has more supplies.

As a firefighter, we’ve showed up for what we think is a simple sick person call and it’s actually a Cardiac Arrest. You need more than 2 on an ambulance for a cardiac arrest. It’s better to have the extra manpower and not need them, then need them and have to wait for them to show up because they were initially dispatched.

Why all apparatus red, instead of yellow, or "school bus" yellow, which is more visible, especially @ night, & on main arteries ???

Department preference, many communities had the yellow in the past and switched back to variations of red.

During the 1970's it was thought that Lime or yellow types of colors provided better visibility. Decades later it was shown that red was more associated with "fire trucks" by the average motorist. With modern lighting what it is...the color isn't as important as realizing what you are seeing. Besides all that...God has spoken...and fire trucks shall be red. At 19:12 and 21:25 you can see white and yellow respectively. So not all red in this video.

Should be titled best of Fire trucks racing Ambulances to calls as with most Fire Dept's today the vast majority of their calls are so called Medical aid calls. A huge waste of resources and Tax dollars!

Kid, if fire departments only responded to fire calls, it would be a major waste of taxpayer money, and if funding was cut because of lack of calls, when a fire did come, people would die and property would be lost because the fire departments wouldn’t have the equipment necessary to handle the job. Plus, ambulances are overloaded as it is, if they didn’t have assistance from the fire department, then they wouldn’t be able to handle the load of medical calls. So why don’t you do some research before you go off making claims about “wasting taxpayer money” from fire responding to med calls.

A major waste of resources and tax dollars would be for fire trucks to not respond to medical calls. They’re first responders, which includes medical. Most medical calls require more than 2 people on an ambulance. And sometimes more than 6 on an Engine & Ambulance (Ex: Cardiac Arrest). As someone who works full time at a fire department and part time for an EMS agency, I can’t stand these takes from people who are clueless.

My goodness Code 3 sirens are so cheap and generic sounding. They must be cheap...cause everyone seems to have one nowadays. Police and ambulance included.
