On this weeks Viewers Rigs we take an in depth look at Dave's Native Watercraft Titan 13.5. This thing was custom rigged by Headwaters Team Member Romel (The Wizard) Labrador. He started off with a custom made wiring harness to allow two Lithium batteries to power the fish finder, motor, and dual Power Pole. It also features a custom bow mount trolling motor bracket that allows Dave to operate his kayak just like a bass boat. It also features spot lock so he can lock in his position and hold even in strong wind and current. The pedal drive allows for ease of control in tight spaces, and stealth when coming upon a spot.

Beautiful setup. Sure, maybe a bit over-the-top, but no one should tell someone else how to spend their money. Clearly kayak fishing (tournaments) is his passion, so good for him! He's also put a TON of thought and design into it, and should be commended for that alone. It's still a fraction of the price of a bass boat, and can go places a bass boat can't. Ironically, I get a bunch of crap for my Field & Stream Shadowcaster kayak with a stern mounted trolling motor. I'm going to have to find out where this guy launches, so I can launch next to him and people will finally leave me alone! 😂

Dave, wow. This is pretty dang impressive! I'm wondering about the bow mounted tolling motor - when using GPS mode functions, do you find it smoothly moving you around? I'm thinking that these things are designed for large, heavy bass boats and, depending on how it is programmed, may overpower the kayak when making adjustments autonomously. I'd be worried that these movements could feel unsafe or be unsafe on a light boat like a kayak. Be great to get your perspective! Thanks so much.

I think the only way Native could make the Titan 13.5 any better would be to engineer a mount on the bow for just such motors, as you have in this build. A Uterra with auto stow and a 24V Lithiom battery would just be the max! And are those forward troller mounts for sale yet? LOL! Great vid and build!

We can use it in any kayak tournament. It's not a jet ski or flat bottom or skiff. What kind of boat do u want us to call it since u told us to stop. It's your call and r u going to let us use them in tournaments (kayak) because I can't use it in boat tournament.? R u going to let me fish on it on Tuesdays? I'm waiting on your book of rules before I take my damn boat out. Can I fish for sun fish on it

I have a Titan 13.5 with a Torqeedo 403 AC motor, a Micro anchor on one side and the Torqeedo on the other side, a Grarmin 70sv fish finder with a custom trailer with a electric winch. Don’t need as much tackle , After a long day on the water I am are not going to get my yak out of the water at a steep boat ramp by myself. The electric wrench makes a easy job of it. I know I could have Purchase a small boat cheaper than I’ve got in my yak. From all of you who keeps asking why someone would do this, your missing the point.

Dan, I keep forgetting to ask kayakers with electronics a question, should the kayak flip what happens to the fishfinder, charger, and whatever else that electronically powered? Are they ruined?

Great video. Love the channel. I love the boat. Can you explain the appeal of dropping 10k on a kayak? Is it feeling close to the water? Exercise option? Despite the stabilityI know personally I will twist and shift to set a hook. I can easily see falling out while trying to make sure I don"t miss a fish. I guess it's an adjustment period. I'm just trying to understand why not get a deep v and really be comfortable and spend even less? Or a bass boat? I'm not knocking it. I think it's cool. Just maybe a sales tool? Great channel!

He comes from the boat world, still prefers the quiet simplicity of a one man vessel, and the community that kayak fishing attracts. No doubt about it thought he is a fisherman not a kayaker, and this thing is more boat than yak. Thanks for watching.

Boat will always cost more as well. Gas... carrying a 2 to 4 ton boat to and from versus a 2 to 4 hundred pounds. Gas... getting around on the water. These fit different people for many different reasons. I'd like to have one...

Nice set-up, still... Interesting progression in the last 15 years. Not that many years ago someone hot-glued a rod holder on an 8' Sun Dolphin and called it a fishing kayak. Now you can spend $15K-$20k on a full blown set up like this, never touch the paddles, and have the GPS drive you around with your trolling motor like some kind of electric chauffer and it's still called a fishing kayak. Makes you wonder when it's not a kayak. Doesn't really matter but it is a little funny.

That boat and trailer... could it be towed with a large motorcycle? Of course not fully decked out like he has it. Basics for fishing. Looks like it'd be fine behind a Goldwing or other large cruiser. Sorry dumb thought but curious. 😊

I know this is late, but for a bow mounted trolling motor, how do these fellows transport their kayaks from the truck to the water? The front handle is blocked. Asking cause my motor is on the way and I just realized this after I ordered it!

How does he launch this thing? He doesn't have to carry and drag it on wheels to launch does he? 2 micro power poles, a bow trolling motor, and all that gear. Must be 150lbs plus rig. I thought about getting a bow trolling motor as well, been debating if I should spend the extra for the Minn Kota Ulterra 80lbs thrust (hands free), or the Motor Guide xi3 as well. Definitely a bad ass one man rig.

My concern would be with all the add-ons regardless of the stability should the worst happen how in the world would you be able to flip the kayak back over with all the additional weight...

If it’s rough enough to flip this your shouldn’t be on the water. You’d fall off before you ever even came close to flipping it over.

With the wt. of the boat with seat and pedals at 178#, and total capacity of 550#(which includes the wt. of the boat), he only has 372# for him and all the accy's. He's no lightweight either. He's close or over max. No reason for that.

Nah. about 3k for the yak, 1300 for the motor. 1200 bucks for the two power poles. Not sure how much the fish finder is but I doubt it's over a grand. So 6500 for all of the expensive bits. I doubt the rest is 3500.

I believe that Harbor Freight sells a small boat trailer that looks very similar to that. I have been thinking about taking the Harbor Freight fold up utility trailer and turning it into a kayak trailer. There are RU-vid videos about it. Beautiful job on the Titan! Tight lines!
