Yeah, that's what I got from the video, it's not a "Daggerfall mod" in any sense. Not going to throw shade at him though, I will die saying that Daggerfall Unity is fantastic, but I can't blame modern Elder Scroll players for not enjoying DFU as much as I, it is a bit dated for some.
I am not using nostalgia goggles when I say Daggerfall is the best entry, because it's the last one I played in the series, Morrowind being the first. I really urge people to master some of the steeper learning curves, because behind an aged exterior and control system is a master work of eclectic algorithm based adventure. There's no doubt the game can be very difficult. Just the preliminary dungeon alone can be too much for 90% of beginners. And there's a lot of necessary preamble: like if you want to be a mage you better make sure you select the high Intelligence advantages during character creation or you'll next to never have enough Mana. The dungeon maps are also confusing, and often designed to be claustrophobic. Plus the game is riddled with bugs, glitches, and even broken story sequences that might brick your progress. So, yes, it's very daunting. But if you can grasp the vision the game was trying to achieve, and you start playing in a way that compliments its ambition; I think you'll have a wonderful experience.
I see where you're coming from. It's a cool game and if you have the will to play the original do it. Unfortunately I don't and just wanted the condensed story so Skygerfall suited my needs.
@Silent Night Then watch a RU-vid video of the history. You're not doing the game justice with a piss poor replacement. There is Daggerfall Unity that is the complete game with all the bug fixes plus modern graphics if that is what you want. This abomination doesn't do the original game justice and in fact mocks it.
@PopulousLove Except that the Creation Engine Skyrim uses looks awful compared to DF Unity running with the graphical mods like DREAM. Here's the Mages Guild in Daggerfall using DREAM plus the ReShade settings. imgur.com/1k9B6Jy Here's one inside of a dungeon running DREAM plus lighting mod and ReShade. imgur.com/g7s5sLy Skyrim pales in comparison to what is now in Unity since the entire map is shrunk down to fit within the confines of the Creation Engine's pitifully small land area. Incidentally, Skyrim is less than 1/1000 the size of Daggerfall's full map.
@@googleandyoutubeareevil I am aware of Dagger Fall in DREAM as I have it installed. I just mean to say that it's not likely going to reprieve the uploader of his opinions by calling the mod piss poor. If anything it at least makes Skyrim a little cooler. I see your pfp has a cross and your username has "preacher" in it. If you are by chance a Christian I'd like to speak to that aspect of your person: which is to say, please deploy the calm voice I know that sect of life aspires too.
I find this clickbait tbh. I thought you was talking about a mod for of daggerfall as that's what the title says. Skygerfall is not a mod for daggerfall it is a mod for Skyrim. In addition while I respect your opinion, the best part of daggerfall is that it feels like a real world that your in. Your not some great hero of legand, your a hero for hire helping townsfolk and having adventures along the way so the fact you prefer one of the worst parts of the games the main story kind of baffles me.
Your opinion is just as valid. I just really dislike the randomly generated everything that Daggerfall has. I would like if the author of Skygerfall added the good sidequests from real Daggerfall. Also sorry that you felt baited. Luckily I know just the mod for you if you want the original Daggerfall experience in it's entirety. You should definitely check out D.R.E.A.M. for Daggerfall Unity. It enhances every aspect of the original game. I might cover it in another video if requested.
@@RejectedRecords1998 futhermore I play daggerfa Unity which has mod support for better quests such as archeological guild and better fighting mechanics.
@@chickenandksivideoreviewer9739 I think it was procedurally generated once and saved like that. But it's not generating those things everytime you start a new game. That isn't necessary because of the sheer amount of dungeons.
Lol kinda defeats the whole purpose of playing daggerfall by not wanting to play daggerfall. If the game is too hard for you, well then practice. It's not that hard of a game if you know how to play it. Remember it was made back before games where dumbed down for brain dead gamers. It actually takes skill to play Daggerfall Unity is all you need (I believe the dream graphics mods come packaged in with latest versions, if not download them).
Dude, what made Daggerfall great is the huge world and auto-generated content. It made you feel like an insignificant character in a huge living and breathing world. Of course this aspect is completely outdated by now, but it's still one of the aspects that give the game its charm. If people really want to experience Daggerfall, they should use Daggerfall Unity. I mean it's nice that Skyggerfall exists, but it's not the Daggerfall experience at all.
Given that Daggerfall is more of a "medieval/fantasy" life simulator. I'd say playing this way is kind of missing the point. But, I guess playing this is better than skipping the whole thing because you don't dig the idea.
Click bait since this has zero to do with actual Daggerfall. Daggerfall Unity recreates the original complete with mod support and bug fixes. You can even get the updated graphics from like DREAM mod. Skyrim is a piss poor engine to use since it can't do the full character class creation or any of the other options that are featured in Daggerfall. It also can't handle the sheer size of the map that is in Daggerfall either. Yet, Unity can handle all 62k square miles and with modern graphics. Also, Daggerfall used procedural generation mainly for placement of all the towns, dungeons, and other locations during the actual design of the game. They used a workstation to do it then went in to tweak the finished map. There are a few things that are randomly done during runtime like creating dungeons using pre-assembled blocks. Names for buildings etc... are also done at runtime. Quests are generated randomly as well.
it isnt daggerfall the finiete damage is completley different to a roll to hit then roll for dmg It makes it more tedius + since picking up daggerfall recently im finding that the actual beauty of the game is the randomness of it And the spells being able to do so so much if done correctly
Unless I'm missing something, aren't the only things randomly generated in Daggerfall location based quest assignments, items, kills, and givers? The entire map is static.
