Love the vehicle choices. Wife has a 22 Black Sport Platinum and 23 Tesla Y and I drive 20 Raptor and 23 C8. I felt like I was looking in my own garage when I saw your videos.
That V8 rumble sounds soooo good that is a sound that an electric vehicle will never be able to duplicate call me stuck in my ways but i can't get with the electric car thing
Super fun video that I clicked on for Super Cruise. About voiding the warranty, there's actually a federal law against that. It's called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
I use my Slade to tow my 35ft 7800lb Toyhauler RV across 15k miles in the last 3 years. Weirdly, i do get a lot of people at campgrounds come and act surprised a dressed up suburban can tow such a thing. Towed my buddy's 27ft cabin cruiser across town, dump trailers for materials. The air suspension and 6.2 makes it looks so easy.
My '19 ESV has a 31 gal tank. I love the interior. Just not $50k love. I tend to buy my Escalades as barely used (under 10k miles). That used to get you 35% off sticker before the world went crazy. I'll wait and let the '21 owners work out GM's notorious glitchy first run models. Beautiful ride though!
She said if you do it wrong you might void the warranty. Which I guess could technically be true. If you forgot to put oil back in it might void the warranty and i would say that is doing it wrong 😂
When my family took our 2017 Raptor on a road trip, we learned that the gas mileage really thrives on the highway. With cruise control (not adaptive) we were getting about 20mpg and we had about a 600mi range. We essentially only had to fill up once or twice. However, around the city, it of course drops in ours to around 15, but the highway metrics really surprised me!
the parking is an ultra sonics based feature, so when u r scanning through a parking lot it is not really looking at lane line or completely empty sports. what it looks at is at objects and space between or beside them. that is why it was able to park next to the truck and not any of the completely open spots. but stay tuned newer tech coming in the future :)
Love this guy! Fun personality to make learning about the Escalade fun! The dinner plate reference to the gas door was classic! Thank you for the informative video! I just ordered a 2022 Escalade ESV, can't wait!
Great video! Not sure if you found a fix on your integrated cargo liner, but I used super glue (krazy glue maximum bond) to re-glue the smaller velcro circles back to the bottom of the mats and let them cure for a couple days to be safe. Has held up good so far.
We couldn’t keep batteries charged in ours. These rides are very hard to jump off with jumper cables. We were stranded several times and had towed. Then the fuel module went out at 23000 miles and stranded again. I wasn’t comfortable with my wife driving it away from home and trader it after the fuel module went out. We traded it at around 25000 miles. Maybe a fluke but was sick of it. Most beautiful and best riding vehicle we ever had.
Omg 😳 You had me at the voiding of warranty with the oil change mess… Dirty smh. Commentary Hilarious 😂!!!! I liked the convenience of the phone charging. No Wires!! I liked how you pointed out the proximity of backing up too. If your not paying attention somebody can take they truck clean out.🙃. This is a bad ass truck though 😎!!! Nice Video and Very Informal!!
It makes sense to me why the automated parking works as it does. If you are in a wide open parking lot with plenty of parking spots open, you really shouldn't need to use it so it's set up to look for open spots next to a car already parked figuring that you need help parking in the middle of that spot. That's why it stopped at the open spot next to the truck.
I love that feature...I’m usually sitting in the car and I don’t have to get out to help load stuff my kids bring in..especially picking up from the airport.
I 100% know what you mean with the gas tank size. I went from dailying an 01 ram with a 35gal tank to dailying a 2012 sierra with a 26gal tank and they get about the same mileage.
That mpg is low. Mine is 16.4. Also, don't know if you guys noticed but in the gas tank door says Premium fuel recommended. Regular gas gets me 300 and something miles per tank and also lasts way less. Premium gets me 418 miles per tank and it last up to 7-9 days for me. 😊
When you drive a big truck like an Escalade, you will soon realize the unwritten laws. E.g, if you go to Walmart, you will ignore the whole parking lot and look at the far end of the lot and see a bunch of trucks parked like F150s, Ram etc. Take your Escalade there and safely park (Always Reverse) between these trucks, the trunk hanging over the curb. These are good drivers. Leave your side mirrors folded. This is where your truck is the safest. 💯 Avoid parking between minivans and smaller SUVs. Unless you plan to go home with a dent or scratch. And never park in the Dollar store lot. NEVER.
Amazing car but the (2020-) design was better, the newer one doesn't fit its fancy and classy style. However the technology in it is definitely a huge step up.
Hey bro, just watched your video. I love the way you took time to show most things and made it easy to understand. I can't believe the dealership or stealership would actually void the warranty if you change the oil yourself. I'm sure they have their reasons, but its crazy....
Thanks! I kind of think it was a sales tactic to sell an oil change package but hey, who knows. First potential warranty-voiding oil change is coming up soon!
I couldn't get my supercruise to change lanes or stop failing on some gentle curves. I had the same problem trying to get it to park in an open spot too without a barrier or car present. Made me a bit jealous of my friends Tesla that parks like a laser. He somehow made it take an offramp from a freeway, nav the whole freeway and switch lanes and get on another freeway by itself. CRAZY. It even stopped at red lights and took off when green, and even makes turns in neighborhoods and reads signs. I hope gm gets their $22k package to do the same one day or when my lease expires I might start looking.
@@ZeroToAwesome Of all the autonomous driving vehicle tech out there, surprisingly Honda and Mercedes have the most advanced tech. Not necessarily tech that has made it to cars, but having the ability. I believe Vice made a video on it.
Great review! 👍 Love the suv but the gas would kill a lot of people especially when it goes up. They really should have an all electric version of this vehicle.
16:47 it does that because it wants to make sure it is actually an allowed parking spot. It wasn't sure about the other spots since nobody was parked near them.
You can enable the locking mirror auto fold option on the Raptor, along with many other things, using a piece of software called FORScan. It’s free but you need to purchase an ELM OBD2 adapter.
@@ZeroToAwesome Sure thing. Plenty of info in this thread: www.f150forum.com/f118/forscan-software-enable-disable-features-your-truck-348987/ Might make for a good RU-vid video if you’re looking for ideas!
I like the new interior, especially the placement of the gear shift. It would’ve been cool to have a seat raise up in the middle...to make it an 8 seater. I have an 05 ESV just barely fits in my garage & I have the scratches on the front bumper as proof....😫🤦🏾♂️ ! Hope the Mrs’s doesn’t see this or you’ll have to pay her for the extra upgrade 😂. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾 !
This was one of the best videos on a Escalade I’ve found. Considering selling my 18’ mega cab Cummins for one.. I don’t tow as much as I used to. Should I do it?
Great video, nice demonstration. I ended up with a loaded BMW X7, and it will park itself easily and not by detecting another vehicle. Different process though, I have to use my blinker to initiate it 😂. The Cadillac was too soft and it seemed to drive larger than I expected. Looking forward to more of your videos. Cheers
Thanks for this. Had my ESV for a year and never used the auto park yet. Maybe I'll try. Also found a couple features I didn't know it had. The blackout letters weren't too expensive to get separately -that's what I did. I wasn't able to order mine. We a demo with 600 miles as I was scrambling to find a Yukon Denali but had 3 orders delayed and canceled. Mine gets decent mileage. Had over 28MPG a few times.
Enjoyed watching this, thanks. Um, soft close doors are a necessity in this class and price point. You don't want to be out there looking incompetent having to reclose your doors or slaming them. Or gawd forbid having someone forced to booty bump the doors oon your 100K Escalade. Booty bumping the doors are fine on a cheap Hyundai but wholly unacceptable on new Escalades.
The garage issue is definitely a problem with home builders these days than vehicles. They don't design and build them in order to actually fit cars and be usable. Even in a pricier neighborhood like yours, they still cram the houses in next to each other and make your three car garage so small. They're literally the smallest it can be and still legally be called a one or two car garage.
Wow I love your caddy I have one I purchased brand new a 2015 ATS Coupe 2.0 liter turbo it’s awesome my first luxury car I don’t think I will ever leave Cadillac lol I’m just gonna wait until the interior design from the Escalade trickles down to the ct5 and ct4 I can’t the interiors as they are right now
I think self-driving is a gimmick. My Expedition max on the second trim level has the Ford 360 driver assist that does radar cruise control and lane keep with hands on the wheel. On the freeway when you’d want to use auto driving anyway, it is ALMOST the same, just need my hands lightly on the wheel. Hardly have to drive at all. The idea of using it to change lanes or drive on side streets seems way too dangerous anyway. I think hands free driving is always going to be a risky and dangerous proposition.
Sounds like the majority of his complaints were with a seemingly shady dealership trying to squeeze you for every penny possible. Great video though, hope you're enjoying the ride! I wonder does it suffer from the "Generation 1 Curse" that you hear all cars suffer from?
When I built my house in 2005 an Escalade was the last thing on my mind. I’m almost embarrassed to say that I was quite happy with a mini van. I built a three car garage with extra large stalls. I started with a Suburban and quickly moved up to an Escalade ESV. I can not only easily slip into my garage, I can even fully open the tailgate with the garage door closed. I’m glad I built such a large garage and love my Escalades - all ESV’s. The new one has a beautiful interior and has a very comfortable ride. I’m waiting for the Blackwing to come out - rumored to be over 550 HP. A huge bump up from the 420 I have.
It's the 2023 Escalade V. Coming out this fall. I currently have the 2020 Cadillac XT6 with the blacked out Sport package, 3rd row seating etc. & with the 3.6L V-6 it gets decent mpg too. XT6 aka my baby Escalade! ;-)
That’s really beautiful. Can you help me I’ll take a Chevy blazer RS I need a vehicle very badly. Thank you God bless you and your family. Color: White Sure would make a nice gift for the 2022 year. 🎉
On my 2013 Ram windows don't go back up with keyfob, although it does stop and reverse if object is in way of closing it... it seems to be programmed as option, but it never works... Frankly i wish they would get more creative and for example use the "rain sensing" feature to roll up windows in rain if vehicle is unoccupied, just matter of programming
I ended up getting the Grand Wagoneer. I think I might have chosen the Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum instead, but every dealer here is charging a huge markup due to shortages. I really like the styling of the Escalade better. However the seats, the rear seat (and passenger seat) entertainment, and the towing capacity sold me. Aside from the styling the super cruise was a very nice feature on the cqddy. It was a difficult decision, but I am going to likely get rid of it in 3 years, maybe I might go back to caddy then.
@@Stressless2023 yea, the 6.4 is definitely quicker off the line and more responsive. The next Escalade V will likely be pushing 700 HP though. I am just shocked he paid MSRP. Dealers around here charged 10k extra for the luxury models and 40k extra for a sport platinum.
Very cool! I see you have a raptor and I love my F-150. What vehicle do you think is bigger on the inside or are they the same? My biggest concern is the seat size and shoulder room
The f150 is bigger for sure. Even if it’s just an inch or two it feels significantly bigger. We actually wanted to get a second one but wouldn’t have been able to fit it in our garage
I think the term "driving by itself" is a bit of a misnomer. It's only semi self autonomous, it can't completely drive by itself. Supercruise has limitations.
I have the same floor mat issue with my 2022 Yukon Denali. They attach with velcro and it’s not a great solution. Also the bottom mat isn’t held on with anything and slides around constantly when loading in items. Bit of an oversight by GM.
Yes I agree about the rear cargo mat. Went to dealer and no solution. It does have velcro but doesn't work. The back of seats aren't an issue with mine and I do alot of up/down with my seats.
@@ZeroToAwesome you should be able to get the rare earth or neodymium magnets that are flat and easily hidden under the carpet, I imagine glued to the inside of the carpet, and glued to the floor mats. I can't see how it wouldn't work out perfectly. And if you do it I would love to see a video on it, maybe Cadillac even copies my idea in the future, fingers crossed!
As an aside, I somewhat got that idea from a stand-up paddle board company out of Florida called "Bote" as they use those magnets as a convenient way to carry a cup or water bottle while paddle boarding, without spilling it. Genius idea. Works amazing! Good luck
I watched that whole video and then it gets hooked up to a Moomba?! Time to sell the Escalade and upgrade the boat. But well done on the review. Thx. :)
Subarus have the similar "super cruise" option and it comes standard in most vehicles, they start at $22k... your option alone can buy a whole car in that sense
I've actually narrowed my purchase choice down to 3 very different vehicles, but reasons for each: The Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum, black/black, diesel for the highway mpg and the added travel distance, fully loaded including heavy duty trailering package to get 4L for that extra inch of air height for deep snow getting out to the road, and trailering of course. The Audi SQ8 Prestige, also fully loaded. And the Ford F150 Raptor. A big part of the reason for the Raptor is their optional fold out flat work service in the front center console, I would use that all the time. But I'm now thinking I might be able to make a portable version of something like that with collapsible, protective padded legs, maybe of thin wood or urethane, that I could put over the center console area in the Cadillac with a small foldable leg up front and laying flat on the front portion or the center arm rest, and when not needed, just fold down that front leg, put it in a cloth bag and store it in the pocket behind one of the front seats. Now I'm ready to take my home office mobile with a laptop and mobile hot spot.
Didn’t even consider it b/c of the exterior styling. We probably would’ve preferred a land cruiser but they hadn’t been updated in so long it didn’t make sense
Good video and good review. It was good info, as I am thinking about getting one very similar to yours. And, I will probably order it from what I think is the same dealership. The one next door to their BMW store, right? BTW, we are almost neighbors. I am about 9 miles due east. Don't want to violate any security measures for either of us, so I will leave it at that. Hope to see you around some day.
@@ZeroToAwesome I talked to Mitch and he is also a good guy. I was thinking about waiting on a V, as I have always been a performance kind of guy. My first car was a 57 Chev with a roller cam, etc. when I was in high school. I special ordered a 1966 SS396 Chevelle the year I graduated. Been attracted to HP ever since. Now that I am a certified old guy, I am beginning to have more common sense. Maybe a diesel for the long fuel range. Enjoy the toys and the lake. Eagle Mountain is one of my favorites. Hope the alligators stay in Lake Worth. I would hate for my great grandkids to be lunch, as they are on the west side of the lake.
The only thing I don’t like about performance trucks is that the handling of a sports car isn’t there. Then again it probably wasn’t with those chevys anyway! Good luck with whatever you wind up with
