For me i think thats a consequence of a soul if they get trap by ghost/demon, because if people die and they're soul go to that place, why we don't see her mom trying or at least try to save her daughter if she in that place in first place. And that ghost keep telling her we can live forever so it was the place where the ghosts/demon come from

it's an open ending like if u want redemption of Mia u would think she jumped willingly but if u want redemption of jade u would think otherwise

And if you do go to that scene frame by frame, you see (from behind the windshield) Jade running up behind Mia and shoving. However, I do think that Mia willingly *let* herself be pushed. I don't believe someone is strong enough to fight this horrifying power of the hand to throw themselves into traffic, same as she couldn't fight stabbing her own father, or that guy stabbing his brother. But I do think she had enough strength at that last moment to let go of the wheelchair when she realizes the truth of the drowned woman's/"mom's" words. She knew Jade was behind her from all the shouting, and she lets go of the wheelchair just in time to get shoved instead of Riley. At least that's what I tell myself to feel better about Jade pushing her, lol!

I would definitely say she threw herself into traffic... not her being pushed. You have to remember she was being mentally tortured... literally up to a point that she didnt know what was real anymore. The brother in the beginning of the movie was going through the same thing. They both killed themselves because they couldn't take it anymore.

I almost went into an anxiety attack watching that :')

I was literally crying and yelling at them to get the hand off in that scene

It's impossible for Jade to have pushed her. She was standing behind the wheelchair. If Jade had pushed her, both her and the brother would have gone into traffic. The only explanation that makes sense is that when the drowned ghost said "we'll have him forever," Mia realized her mistake, let go of the wheelchair, and threw herself into traffic just as Jade was lunging to grab the wheelchair.

My impression was that they made mia jump. Honestly tho, I'm not sure. It was left ambiguous and I like that

As much as Mia sacrificing herself might feel better, it's not the truth, you can literally google, "Did Jade push mia" and you'll see the actual creators saying Jade got there in time to save her brother. It's a tragic ending because she had just realized she was tricked and might have changed her mind. Like I said, you can literally pause the scene and see Jade get RIGHT behind mia, and then her arms go straight. This is not an arguable thing, it's a fact. They blurred it a little so it's hard to see, but you can look it up. She was pushed.

They need to do more horror movies.😂

That was what i was thinking when i watched the movie. This is literally teens getting high at get-togethers, until it went too far because they OD'd a minor. They don't even want the cops getting caught up to what they actually did. And yeah, the effects on them especially Mia like you said.

I don’t think that’s totally fair. At the very start Mia says she knows he’s keeping something from her/lying to her. They were both being distant with each other because of the trauma of losing the mom, I don’t think it has anything to do with appreciation.

@@Wraiven22in no way does that mean talk to spirits when you have no idea what you are inviting. She was grieving which is understandable why she’s so broken in the movie but refused to acknowledge anything and got manipulated from the very start of the first game.

Let's be fair to Mia Grief is a terrible thing. It consumes you. I don't think it's about her not appreciating her father. She's consumed by grief and is finding it difficult to accept that her mom actually unalived herself. The hand is an allegory for drugs and how they can be used to escape but like with actual addicts, it ends up consuming you and killing you in the end. Especially people who are emotionally vulnerable like Mia. She acts like a textbook addict actually.

I think Mia touching the hand allowed the spirit stuck with her to interfere which led to Riley getting attacked. I agree I think Mia's mom was the initial spirit he saw since the place felt like a purgatory of sorts and the spirits there were either damned by their actions or the others spirits there via the hands interference.

She didnt necessarily sacrifice herself. If you look closely, jade pushed her onto the streets to save her brother.

idk, people react to grief differently, but there are bad coping mechanisms that affect not only the person that is grieving, but everyone around them as well. granted, mia was experimenting paranormal things and hauntings as well, but that was, in fact, the result of fucking around and finding out. the entire debacle with riley and her 'mom' was admittedly mia's (and everyone else's in the room, but moreso mia's) fault. personally, mia was a very unlikeable character to me. i truly understand her struggle with being an outcast and grieving her mother's death, but i really don't understand the lengths in which she went to... talk to her mom? get her mom back? (i don't think that was even possible in this universe, i haven't watched the movie since it came out in theaters, forgive me) there are some things she did outside of the spirits' manipulation that really set me off as well, and it really seemed it was just traits of mia's character. which leads to me feeding into the 'wow she really fucked around and is in the midst of finding out' all in all, i think it really boils down to how to perceive addiction, grieving/loss, and such. and an additional note, mia didn't actually sacrifice herself at the end. she does end up coming to (due to the spirit's dwindling influence) and realizing what she was doing, but at that point it was already too late. jade pushed her into oncoming traffic to save riley, not knowing that mia was 'waking up.'

Listen kid, everybody lost somebody. You don't have to be stupid and selfish just because you're grieving. Riley has been good towards her, yet she sacrificed him for her own purpose. She literally put a kid's life at risk so she can have some conversation with her dead mom. And not just any other kid, it's her 'better sibling'. So yeah, I don't feel sad for her. B!tch even tried so hard just to be accepted by a bunch of motherfs, such a freak.

Same, I came out of theater scared. It was late at night too when it was showing. I was shaking as I was driving home. This film is a literal nightmare and yet, it's such a good horror movie.

Cause it was Mia's fault? Jade left the room, its not farfetched that she believed Mia would respect that she said no. Plus Mia is the closest to Riley, not the other guys. They don't care, but Mia should've. She let it go for too long not caring about Riley. Either way, they're all young doing stupid things. But in the end it's a good thing Jade pushed Mia onto traffic.
