@@AnzelLmao DUDE i literally have 7 of those shits sitting on my desk RIGHT NOW there is no way i just said that i've been having fun with the Lumix S5II but i'm lowkey missing fuji
Can definitely see dwindling appeal for someone who described this as Matrix at home given the Matrix level price tag! TKLs are big for me, but I did the opening mechanism and mounting, would love to see them make a 60% at some point!
@@AnzelLmaoalso don’t think I’ve seen a leaf spring mount in that form factor (though I could be totally missing a board), which I think would be sick (especially with a sufficiently large bottom weight to dampen any case resonance)
I like design studios that are willing to take risks and try something new. But I LOVE design studios that are trying something new that can show an evolved form of what they were. It’s a cool design, but it resonates with nothing of the Owlabs board of the past. Respect for them making a unique board, just not for me.
I get it, you have your opinions, and you’re entitled to them. However, if you honestly want the keyboard community to flourish, don’t ever tell a keeb maker to make their boards any more simple, even by .01%. We have countless simple ass boards that can hardly be distinguished from 100s of others. You’re doing the community of a disservice in that regard. The reason this board resembles matrix boards is because every other f*****g keyboard has boring lines, no design on the face of the keyboard, and countless other boring design choices.
Hmmmm you make a great point! But I wouldn’t quite call it a disservice. Owlabs CAN do great, complex designs. Look at the original jelly! Weird, but industrial and overall relatively cohesive. I don’t mind a super complex board, that’s fine. But in this case I called for simplicity purely because owlabs couldn’t hone in the complexity. Again I have no issue with complexity, but with cohesion. Chaos is fine, but there should be some semblance of order!! Owlabs was SUPER close here. Maybe my main point wasn’t that clear in the video- but if they wanna keep the design as is that’s fine because honestly it’s art and it’s bold and owlabs should be doing bold things. But I think from a mass appeal point it definitely didn’t help, and I’m unsure if this will be a desireable board 2-3 years down the line. But like you said, it’s all a matter of opinion!! At the end of the day owlabs is still innovating and whether someone would consider this a bad or good design is honestly whatever, because owlabs is gonna do what owlabs is gonna do!!
This whole video is a personal opinion! I’m not telling anyone what to think, just putting out my own thoughts and reflections of this board, what it means for owlabs, and what they could potentially be cooking or the future!! I get that I’m harsh but hey for a $500 keyboard I think we should be a little picky!!
Another vid from Anzel?! What did we do to deserve this. I do have to say thanks for always putting out your open and honest reviews of these keebs! You’re awesome! 🫶🏽
